p * c = total cost
1.2p * c' = 1.12total cost
1.2p *c' = 1.12p*c
c'/c = 1.12/1.2
c'/c= 14/15
c-c'/c = 1/15 => 6.66%??
A salesman used to earn 10% commission on his sales. Under a new scheme, he drew a regular pay of र2000 and if his sales were more than र10000, he would get a 10% commission on the excess of his sales over र10000. Now despite his sales going down by 10%, he gets र700 more than earlier. What were his original sales?

@allan89 under new scheme, earnings = 2000 + (10000-x)*0.1

let initiakl sales be xearning = 0.1xunder new scheme, earnings = 2000 + (10000-x)*0.1=> 3000 - 0.1xnow, 3000- 0.1x - 0.1x = 700=> 2300 = 0.2x=> x= 11500??
under new scheme, earnings = 2000 + (10000-x)*0.1
here we will take value of X 90%

Farook marks up the price of an article by 50% and then offers a discount of 20% to Shahrukh. Shahrukh sells it for र20 more than the price at which he purchased it. If Shahrukh's selling price is 30% more than the original cost price of the article, then Shahrukh's profit percentage is

original cost=p
shahrukhs cost = 1.5 * 0.8 p = 1.2p
shahrukhs selling price = 1.2p +20
=> 1.2p +20 = 1.3p
=>0.1p = 20
=>p=200
profit % =20/240 = 1/12 = 8.33%

oops ... its should be 20/240 😛
