a square of longest possible side is drawn inside the triangle ABC with one side of the square lying on the side BC.If AB=13,BC=21,AC=20 ,then find the side of the square ..
84/11,
7,
28/3,
31/4

Solution plz...

84/11?
height of triangle ABC = h(divides base in x and 21-x)
13^2-x^2=20^2-(21-x)^2
x=5
so height will be h= rt(13^2-5^2)=12
now let PQ be the side of square...P at side AB and Q at side AC
let side of square PQ=y
height of triangle APQ=12-y
Triangle APQ and ABC are similar
so 12-y/12=y/21
y=84/11?

@DarkHorse25
sol btao bhai...mjhe gmtry me 2+2=4 bhi nhi aata:)
@hari_bang

Let OPQR be the required square with the side RQ lying on BC..Let AM be the height of the triangle ABC which cuts the side of the square OP at N..

Now, Area of the triangle ABC= [27(27-21)(27-13)(27-20)]^(1/2) = 126 cm^2..

Thus, Height (AM)= 126*2/21 = 12 cm..

Now, Triangle AOP and Triangle ABC are similar..

Thus, AN/AM = DE/BC, or, (12-l)/12 = l/21, or, l= 84/11 cm...

pic banao .. aur dekho... height of ABC = h
then h-a/h
=a/21

now area of ABC =9*14=1/2*21*h or h=12

put in 1st eqn h=12 and u will get a=84/11

one more frm geomtry

A and B are two points in a plane which are 10 m apart.The angle of elevation of tower as seen from A and B are respectively as 30 and 6o degrees..If AB subtends an angle of 60 at the foot of the tower, find the height of the tower.

ABCD is a rectangle. The points P, Q lie inside it with PQ parallel to AB. Points X, Y lie on AB (in the order A, X, Y, B) and W, Z on CD (in the order D, W, Z, C). The four parts AXPWD, XPQY, BYQZC, WPQZ have equal area. If BC = 19, PQ = 87, XY = YB + BC + CZ = WZ = WD + DA + AX, then the length of AB is
