An instrument measures the temperature accurately but there is a problem in the instrument, such that it skips the digit 5 and moves directly from 4 to 6. What is the actual temperature it the instrument shows 3016?a) 2201 (b) 2202 (c) 2600 (d) 2960OA is (a). Please mention your approach.
has been discussed a lot

from 1 to 100 - 19 missing
from 1- 1000 - 19*9+100 missing => 271

from 1-3000 - 271*3=813

3005 and 3015

so total = 813+2=815 missing

3016-815=2201

Bhai agar sirf number of integer solutions bole to kitne solution hota ???
@krum _/\_ sir....thanks...m sure it would have been discussed a lot...it's from the legendary XAT 2011 ppr...ye approach to pata tha....i was trying to see if there is a shorter approach to it...CL ppl have solved it but in a very peculiar way which went over my head so came here...

Bhai 3016 jo reading mein aaya hai woh agar 0-8 k scale mein hota toh 3015 hota...

theek...

and 3015 jo hai woh base 9 mein value hai....toh base 10 mein kya value hogi ye calculate kar lo answer aa jayega..

shorter way is to convert it to base 9
3016 base 9 = 2202 base 10

this includes 0 also, so 2201

:nono:

bhai 3016 scale mein jo dikha rha hai woh asli mein 3015 hai...5 nhi hai isliye 6 dikha rha hai....

0 toh base 9 mein jo hai base 10 mein bhi wahi hogi...

A can finish a work in 24 days, B in 9 days and C in 12 days. B and C start the work but are forced to leave after 3 days. The remaining work was done by A in ??
A tank is filled by three pipes with uniform flow. The first two pipes operating simultaneously fill the tank in the same time during which the tank is filled by the third pipe alone. The second pipe fills the tank 5 hours faster than the first pipe and 4 hours slower than the third pipe. The time required by the first pipe is ?

1) 6 hrs
2) 10 hrs
3) 15 hrs

B & C complete 7w/12 work in 3 days..
remaining work = 5w/12

A can complete w work in 24 days...
so he will complete 5w/12 in 10 days...

let 2nd takes x hours

==> 1/(x+5)+1/x=1/(x-4)
==> 2x^2-3x-20=x^2+5x
==> x^2-8x-20=0
==> x=10

15 hrs

15 hrs...
let rate of the three pipes be r1, r2, r3
and Volume of the tank be V

time taken by third pipe be t
time taken by second pipe = t+4
time taken by first pipe = t+9

now we know that r1+r2 = r3

r1 = V/t+9
r2 = V/t+4
r3 = V/t

on calculating...t = 6

hence t+9 = 15 hrs
What is the unit digit in {(6374)1793 x (625)317 x (341491)} ??

it should be 0.
it is like x2*y5*z1
@pari19O1 yes bro !!!

then the answer is 0...

4^odd = 4
5^anything = 5
and 1
4*5*1 = _0
