Mr. Meter was going from Kashmir to Kanyakumari by his car. When he started his journey the odometerof his car showed a reading of 00000 km. On the way Mr. Meter realized that the odometer of his car wasnot functioning properly and displayed 'δ' in between 4 and 5 (i.e. after 34, first it showed 3δ and then 35).Odometer of the car at the end of journey showed a reading of 009δ5 km. Find the distance traveled by Mr.Meter during the entire journey.A. 1149 kmB. 594 kmC. 1171 kmD. 1271 kmE. 716 km

Since there is an addition of one extra digit : The number shown on the odometer is in the base 11
9δ5 --> Odometer
Add 1 digit to every digit --> 1056
Now, 1056 in base 11 = 10*121 + 5*11 + 6 = 1271 in base 10
So , 1271 Sirjee?

Q1 Plz explain

Can be solved by using both...correct??

Let ABCD be a cyclic quadrilateral such that one of its diagonals is a diameter of the circle. If AB = 72cm,
find the measure of the diagonal which is not the diameter of the circle.
I. Radius of the circle is 45 cm.
II. Side opposite to AB is of length 45 rt 2 cm.

bhai can you explain?

A ring (Mathematics) is also used to describe the area between two concentric circles.
So, 2nd statement is not needed I gues @soumitrabengeri ?

Sorry..was busy in the XAT prep group thread
Yeah..same logic as that used by @ScareCrow28..2nd statement wont be needed

Both statements needed?
From statement 1 we see that 15 fiction books are not in french while 10 are
From statement 2 we see that 17 french books are non fiction while 10 are
Two train A & B starts opposite each other, after meeting they reaches after 9 & 16 HOURS respectively. what is the ratio of their speeds?
i know by shortcut formula ans is the square root of inverse ratio of their times.
ans is 4/3
but what is the logic?

Please type the questions correctly. There is something missing I guess.

Sa/Sb=rt (Tb/Ta)=rt(16/9)=4/3?

D=a*t+9a
D=b*t+16b

t=D/(a+b)

==> D=aD/(a+b)+9a
==> D=9a/b*(a+b)

and

==> D=16b/a*(a+b)

so 9a/b=16b/a
==> a^2/b^2=16/9
==> a/b=4/3

ans is 4/3
but what is the logic?
d1/Vb =16
d2/Va=9
and
d1=Va*t
d2=Vb*t
so,
16Vb =Va*t
9Va=Vb*t
solve to get Va/Vb=4/3
