In a convex octagon, measures of the angles are in integers. and are in AP. Find the sum of the greatest two angles.
290?

sum = 1080
4 * (2a + 3d) = 1080
2a + 3d = 270
put d = 2
a = 132

Required sum = a + 7d + a + 6d
= 2a + 13d
= 264 + 26
= 290
@grkkrg
4* (2a + 7d) = 1080 nhi hga ?
3rd and 4th term

Is mai answer vary ni karega kya?
I'm getting 135+12(d) ; d=1,2,3,4,5,6

sum of angles = 1080
avg = 135
so angles be
135 - 7x , 135 - 5x, 135 - 3x , 135 - x, 135 + x , 135 + 3x, 135 + 5x , 135 + 7x

135 + 7x
7x
x
x = 6

two grtest angles are - 165 and 177
so 342

bhai idhar 3d ke jagah 7d hoga na??

sum of angles=(2*8-4)*90=1080

now, let first angle be a and common difference be d

=> sum=8/2*(a+a+7d)=1080
=> 2a+7d=270

now, a+7d

from first condition, a>90.

Answers could be different 2 for different values of a or d.
Option hain kya? :splat:

hga ..iske total 6 solution ayenge..when x = 1 , 2, 3 ,4 5, 6
but we want max..or acc to options...i calc max sum..

@maddy2807 ques me it shud be max sum..otherwise 6 diff APs are possible..

yeahh.even i tried the combination of 2,3,5,7 which gave max value less than 1000..so came 840..
