Official Quant thread for CAT 2013

@maddy2807

Should be 42..

Here, m=2b..(i)

For Village Bilaspur, W/12m + 18b=60*7.5, or, W=1350*7m units

Thus, For Village Harigarh, W'=2700*7m units

Here, 2700*7m/21m + xb=50*9, or, 42m=21m + xb, or, x=42

AGAIN...In Bilaspur village, 12 men and 18 boys completed construction of a primary health centre in 60 days, by working for 7.5 hours a day. Subsequently the residents of the neighbouring Harigarh village also decided to construct a primary health centre in their locality, which would be twice the size of the facility built in Bilaspur. If a man is able to perform the work equal to the same done by 2 boys, then how many boys will be required to help 21 men to complete the work in Harigarh in 50 days, working 9 hours a day? A. 45 boys B. 48 boys C. 40 boys D. 42 boys

D.42?

12men + 18boys = (24+18)boys = 42 boys
working for 60*7.5 hours = 450 hours

Twice the size => 60*15 = 900 hours______________________x2
50 days at 9 hours per day => 450 hours___________________x1

Total boys required = 42 * 2 = 84

Number of boys required = 84 - 21*2 = 42
