In a class the ratio of the no. of boys to girls is 7:3 each boy is given only a 50 paise coin and each girl given 75 paise coin. the differences in the amount present with boys and girls is rs. 3.75 how many coins should the boys and girls exchange so that the amount with the boys becomes twice the amount with the girls ?

theek hai 4 hoga.

Is the five digit number ABCDE divisible by 13?

I. The number DE is divisible by 13.

II. 10A + B + 4C + 3D - E is divisible by 13.

  • Statement I alone is sufficient.
  • Both the statements together are not sufficient.
  • Both the statements together are sufficient.

Let f(x) = x^2−1. How many distinct real roots are there to f(f(f(x))) = 0 ?

x,y and z are complex numbers satisfying

x^1 + y^1 + z^1 = 1

x^2 + y^2 + z^2 = 2

x^3 + y^3 + z^3 = 3

The value of x^4 + y^4 + z^4 = ?

First weighing: Divide the coins in 2 groups, 14-14

Second weighing: Divide the heavier group in 7-7

Third weighing: Divide the heavier group in three sub groups 3-3-1

if both are equal, then single coin have higher weight.

If not,

fourth weighing: take the heavier sub group of 3 coins and divide it into three small groups 1-1-1

if both are equal, then third coin has higher weight.

If not, then higher weight one will be the answer

Hence, 4 weighing

thats why minimum of 3 steps right if 3 and 3 are equal , therefore total of 3 steps i think

Two joggers left Delhi for Noida simultaneously. The first jogger stopped 42 min later when he was 1 km short of Noida and the other one stopped 52 min later when he was 2 km short of Noida. If the first jogger jogged as many kilometers as the second, and the second as kilometers as first, the first one would need 17 min less than the second. Find the distance between Delhi and Noida?

Akash, Bhanu and Sam work on a project. After they complete 1/4th of the project, Sam takes a break. For 7 days only Akash and Bhanu work on the project. After that Sam relieves both of them. He completes the project in 5 days. Bhanu works 50% faster than Akash while Sam alone can finish the entire project in 20 days, How long would Bhanu take to finish the entire project?

ans 23 1/3 days

1/2 of the work is done in 7 days.

let akash do in one day x% so bhanu will do 1.5x% total of 2.5x% in single day

in 7 days = 50% work

in 1 day = 50/7%

2.5x% =50/7%

x=20/7 % so 1.5 x will be 30/7

so number of days = 100 /30/7 =23 1/3 days

B=23 1/3 days....

is oa 15 ?

speed of 1st one is (x-1)/42

for second (x-2)/52

where x is total distance

as per this statement

If the first jogger jogged as many kilometers as the second, and the second as kilometers as first, the first one would need 17 min less than the second.

(x-1)*52/(x-2) - (x-2)*42/ (x-1) = 17

using options 15 is coming

Can someone tell me that when we calculate the remainder from 11, do we subtract the odd digits from the even or the even from the odd? and how do we calculate the remainder?

@veertamizhan

Can someone tell me that when we calculate the remainder from 11, do we subtract the odd digits from the even or the even from the odd? and how do we calculate the remainder?

We start from the rightmost digit and then add the alternate digits....For example

453 MOD 11 = (3+4) - 5 = 2

4534 MOD 11 = (4+5) - (3 + 4) = 2

41628 MOD 11 = (8 + 6 + 4) - (2 + 1) = 18 - 3 = 15 = 4

Doesn't make a difference. You take the modulus of the difference, if it is 0, 11, 22...then the number is divisible by 11.

Funda is like this: Suppose I take a number like 53743 I can write it as

5 * 10000 + 3 * 1000 * 7 *100 + 4 * 10 + 3

= (5 * 9999 + 5) + (3 *1001 - 3) + (7*99 + 7) + (4 * 11 -4) + 3

= (5 * 9999 + 3 * 1001 + 7 * 99 + 4 * 11) + ( 5 - 3 + 7 - 4 + 3)

Now the first bracket is divisible by 11 as 11, 99, 1001, 9999 etc are all divisible by 11. So I only need to check the second bracket.

Hemant bhai....Pehle to pranaam sweekar karein aap _____/\_____

Solution shayad kuch aise ho:

Divisibility of 13 is same as divisibility of 1001 = 10^3 + 1

=> We need to find whether ABCDE is divisible by 13

=> (CDE) - (AB) MOD 13

=> 100C + 10D + E - (10A + B) MOD (13)

=> 9C - 3D + E - 10A - B MOD (13)

=> -4C - 3D + E - 10A -B MOD (13)

=> -(10A + B + 4C + 3D - E) MOD 13

From Statement 1: Nothing can be said

From statement 2: The number is divisible by 13

Hence statement 2 alone is sufficient.

Note: Fir bhi ye hemant bhai ka question hai....kuch locha hua to sorry hai :)
