7*9=63
so atleast we need to have 3 9's
a+b+c+d+e+f+g=59
a+b+c+d=32

999 9986-42

999 9887-105
a+b+c+d+e+f+g=59
a-b+c-d+e-f+g=11k[11 or 22 or 33]
k=0 or 2 will give a+c+e+g as 59/2 or 81/2 which is not possible
and we can take k to be at max 4
since max difference of odd and even places can be 9*4-0=36
a+c+e+f=35/41
41 is not possible
a+c+e+g=35
only possible solution is 9 9 9 8[so all cases with atleast 39's and atleast 1 8 can be divisible by 11]
case 1
999 9995
not possible
case 2
999 9986
aceg can be arranged in 4!/3!
bdf will be 9,9,6 3!/2!=3

case 4
999 8888
aceg can be arranged in 4 ways
bdf [8,8,8] in 1 way
4
case 5
999 9887
aceg 4 ways
bdf [9,8,7] 3!=6

Let the no be, (9-a)(9-b)(9-c)...(9-g)
Where the terms (9-a)...represent the digits
Where the terms (9-a)...represent the digits
Now, 9-a + 9-b ....9-c = 59
=> a+b+c+d+e+f+g = 4
Also, 9-a+9-c+9-e+9-g-9+b-9+d-9+f = 11,22,33
=> (b+d+f) - (a+c+e+g) = 2, 13, ...
=> 2(b+d+f) = 6 OR (b+d+f) = 3
b+d+f = 3
Total = 5C2 = 10 ways
And, a+c+e+g = 1
Total = 4C3 = 4 ways
Total = 10*4 = 40 ways

profit of 3.125??
@Asfakul Let the net amount for the trade i.e. CP = 100.
Cheats by 20% on purchase => Actual CP = 80
Cheats by 10% while selling => SP = 110
Discount of 25% on CP => Net SP = 110-25 = 85
% profit = 5/80*100 = 6.25%
OA?

no profit or loss...
Let the cp be rs 100/kg
so he gets 1.2 kg for rs 100
Now he offers 25% discount on cp
so sp/kg= rs 75/kg
but he sells only 900 grams instead of 1 kg
c.p of 900 gms= 100/4*3= 75 ( 1.2kg for 100, 300 gm for rs 25, 900 gm for 25*3)
ergo

let the person from whom trader is purchasing sells it at x
he purchases it in y
x-y/y =1/5
6y=5x
y=5/6 x
y=0.833x
he sells it at z
z-x/x=1/10
z=11x/10
z=1.1x
offers a discount of 25% so actual SP for trader=0.75*1.1x=.825x
0.833-.825/.833 = 0.005/.83=0.96% loss??

1 % is it ??
This is a question from CAT 2010 paper. Can anyone plz solve it coz I am at a loss ??? -->
A triangular garden is to be enclosed inside 3 straight fences. Raju started running at an uniform speed on the three sides of the proposed boundary of the garden & discovered that he was taking 48min, 102min, 90min to traverse the garden's three sides. However, in the latest colony meet, it was decided that the coverage area of the park should be reduced to accomodate a parking lot. Since the fence on the shortest boundary was already constructed, the length of the boundary covered by Raju in 90min was reduced by 60% & the longest was modified accordingly so that the park still remained triangular in shape.
1) How much time will Raju take to run along the boundary of the garden thus formed?
120min, 148min, 128min, 160min, 144min
2) If Raju's speed was 15metres/min, what is the approx area of the parking lot (in km^2)?
0.39, 0.28, 0.29, 0.45, 0.52
Plz post the solution as well or else it wont be of any help.
