Let S(N) denote the digit sum of the integer N. Let M denote the maximum value of N/S(N), where N is a 3-digit number. How many 3-digit numbers N satisfy N/S(N) = M ?

it will be just 2 times
concentration after 2 times .616 which is greater than 0.6
@Subhashdec2 what is this formula ? m a lil confused have seen these type of questions but dont know how to solve them

suppose the 3 digit number is 111 so the digit sum S(N) is 3 and M=111/3=37. i guess M should be a integer

4 gallons ?

M can be in fraction also but in all cases value of M would be same i.e. maximum among all possibilities
For how many positive integers n are there exactly ⌊n/2⌋ or ⌈n/2⌉ primes less than or equal to n ?
⌊⌋ = the largest integer less than or equal to x.
⌈⌉ = the smallest integer greater than or equal to x.

answer 9 hai kya.. digit sum cant be 0. so digit sum has to be from 1-9.. when it is 1 you have one possibility only. when 2 M(max will be at 222) similarly for other numbers

is it the digital sum or the sum of the digits in the ques?
@Subhashdec2 said:is it the digital sum or the sum of the digits in the ques?
digit sum
999 = 9 + 9 + 9 = 27 not 9

is it 9
n/sn maximum value is 100
so 100, 200......300 9 values
@jain4444
numbers shud be of the form 100, 200, 300 upto 900
@PPoison said:@zuloo If you plot the graph for the given equation of circle ...center @ (1,-2) with radius as 2sqrt6, and you need to get the largest value for y/xAny point on the circle on the 2nd and 4th quadrant will give you a negative value (y/x wont be max plus maximum you can get if y is having the max value)Possible case rests in 1st quadrant only where y is at its max ...iewhen y=-2 + radius(ie 2sqrt6)and x =1That will give the y/x ka max value as 2(sqrt6-1)P.S- Not sure if the explanation helps you
reasoning seems to be correct and similar to what i did or thought but we will have to be spot on and sure with the answer and in this context short-cut is required. in this case, one can't be absolutely sure of an exact answer. i hope you understand what i am trying to say.
