@emanresu for 88 2,4,8,11 are the factors but we checking only for 8 and 11 coz if a number is divisible by 8 it should be divisible by 2 and 4 also. that's why we cecking with only 8 ( and not 2,4 ) rite?
yes that's right. like if it is divisible by 6 then it is divisible by 2 & 3. similarly for 8 as 8 can be written as 8=4*2. also as additional info to u for divisibility checking with nos of form 2^n one needs only to check n digits from last with 2^n
so n=1 last digit for divisiblity of 2
n=2 last 2 digits for divisiblity of 4=2^2
n=3 last 3 digits for divisiblity of 2^3=8 and so on.......

In a triangle ABC, three points D,E and F are choosen on sides BC,AB and AC respectively such that DE is parallel to AC and DF is parallel to AB .If the area of the triangle BDE is 36 and that of quadrilateral AEDF is 60,find the ratio of perimeter of triangle CDF to that of triangle ABC.
i am not getting this

anybody any approaches?

i think this should be 5:11.

I did this:

Joined A and D. (So, area of ABD = 30 + 36 = 66, and area of ADC = 30 + x , where x = area of CDF)

Now, BD/DC = 66/(30 +x) [Ratio of areas of triangle ADC and ADB with the same height]

Also, (BD/BC)^2 = 36/(96 +x) and (DC/BC)^2 = x / (96+x)

Dividing we get => BD/DC = 6/root(x)

Equate BD/DC from both => x = 36, 25

So, ratio can be 5/11 or 6/root(132) .. ?

If we rearrange the letters of the word RAINBOW, How many words will be there in which the vowels are never together?

According to me the solution should be : 7! - 5!*3!

But the solution given in the book (Quantum CAT) is entirely different. Please let me know how to solve this question.

_A_I_O_

Four letters are left and they should be arranged in the gaps, such that middle two gaps have one or more letters in each.

a + b + c +d = 4 , where b,c >=1
=> a + b' + c' + d = 2 => 5C3 ways

Also, A,I,O can be arranged in 3! ways => 5C3 * 3! = 60 ?

I did it orally, heres the pic i drew in my mind, dunno f the ans is rite, plz crosscheck with the question giver

@YouMadFellow

Answer is 1440

is it 1440?

seven boxes numbered 1 to 7 are arranged in a row . each is to be filled by either by black or blue ball such that no two adjacent boxes contain blue ball. in how many ways these boxes be filled ?

@joyjitpal

Yes. Please let me know the solution.
@emanresu
@YouMadFellow yes OA is 5:11.

4!*5c3*3!=1440

_R _N _B_W_

total no of gaps is 5

there are 3 vowels

so 5P3 which is 60

now R N B W

can be arranged in 4! ways

so 24*60 equal to 1440

Is it720???
@saurav205
Nope. Refer to joyjitpal's solution.
@YouMadFellow can you explain 2nd and 3rd line of your solution ? ratio of triangle with the same height(is this a property ?)... and the next line .
@emanresu from the figure i understood quadrilateral getting divided into 30 each.after that what did u do ? BED traingle me ki sides 6x,6x kaise ai ? same for traingle AEF ?
