Like every year, this year also showcased a mix of different emotions among the fresh batch of students who set their feet in the classes for the first time in LBSIM. Ranging from the usual B.Com and Engineers to the increasing number of Science and Arts graduates, the PGDM Batch of 2019-21 consists of a commendable diversity.
The learned faculty of our institute, like every year, this year too organized The Orientation Program. It’s an extensive process wherein students are taught the basics of all the topics over a week. This helps them to work on the subjects they are behind others and stand on a common academic platform.
On first day of the Program, students encountered many subjects that were new to them. They also had a privilege to interact with prominent people from the industry, including many of our jewel alumni. These professionals were kind enough to find time from their busy schedule to come over to the institute to share their vivid knowledge and experiences with the students.
Even though we get to learn and grow every single day at this Institute, the first week of Orientation Program has left an indelible mark in the minds of the students.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organised a two-day induction programme for the upcoming PGDM batch of 2019-2021 on 12th June. Mr. Vineet Bajpai, the founder and CEO -Talentrack and Mr. Sougat Chatterjee, CEO, Dalmia Life Care Limited were invited as the chief guests.

The students were informed about the Academics and Evaluation System, Administration, Discipline, Infrastructure, Examination Department, Library, Bloomberg and IT facilities and the Anti-Ragging protocol.
On this auspicious occasion, Nivesh-the student managed mutual fund society of the Institute launched its annual magazine.

Yoga is a way of life that provides a rare opportunity to leave the madness of the world behind and attain inner peace. We, at LBSIM celebrated 5th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019 in partnership with the “Art of Living“ organisation which was warmly received by the students who participated in this festival of health in huge numbers. The institute campus came to life at 4 AM in the morning when students enthusiastically joined the volunteers from the “Art of Living” to perform complex asanas and pranayama. Taking charge of their breath and chanting “om”, students participated in a meditation session and felt relaxed from their hectic day to day hustle. After attending a complete session of yoga complimented with pranayama and meditations, the participants felt recharged and rejuvenated with their heads clearer and mind wiser than before.
The word Dishank means horizons. In furtherance of the view of providing a plethora of opportunities and achieving new heights, Dishank module is conducted every year.
Apart from the course curriculum students can participate in various academic and non-academic clubs. The new batch is acquainted with such clubs and student bodies by engaging them into various activities. They visit every section of the batch, introduce themselves, brief about their club and engage students in some fun activities aligning to their area of interest. This is majorly organised for the students to identify where their interest lies to facilitate them to be a part of something they want.
To name a few: Sparsh -the social initiative society, asked the students to organize a skit on issues related to health and sanitation; Genesis -the marketing club, asked students to sell or market his/her friend. Prizes were also given to the winners, depicting that this isn’t only fun but also a motivator for the students to participate actively in the respective clubs. This ensures enthusiasm among the students thereby fulfilling the purpose of an all-round holistic development.
