Deciding on your Masters is always a gruelling choice, and for an MBA- it calls for a lot of investment. This is in terms of money and time, mentally and emotionally. It is a big leap into what you want to maybe do for the rest of your life, and it was important for me to come to a place of deeper learning. Not just somewhere I could sit for classes and get a degree- I wanted more, in terms of exposure, work and competition. IMT Hyderabad fit everything in my criteria, it had workshops, Harvard case studies and Student Exchange Plans. It was established but not yet old enough where I could not contribute any additional meaningful change.
Like the rest of the world, the Pandemic was an unexpected ordeal for me as well. I thought that I would be missing out on the MBA experience I had been promised and what I had been looking forward to, for half a year. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the way IMT Hyderabad structured its opening. It was beyond my expectations, right from the Management Orientation Program to the outstandingly done ice-breaking session. It flowed easily and even helped me get into the mindset of what online learning would mean- for even as long as a year.
There are many things in life where we may not get a say in; the only thing you can really control is how you react to things out of your control. And if you're lucky as I was, you may be supported by an organisation that helps you overcome these situations.
"Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way."

From the beginning, I was an avid foodie, and that's how my entrepreneurial journey started for me. It began with simple recipes and doing my research on them, and then I started my own cloud kitchen, Plan B Burgers, and did about 5000 orders in the first year. After a year, we opened a 32 seater restaurant. Since our inception over 2 years ago, we have successfully completed 50000 orders and have sold over 1 lakh burgers in Nagpur. A new outlet is in the works which will be a 100 seater restaurant. This will be our flagship outlet, and in the next 5 years, we'll be around the world.
For a long time, I've dreamed of having my own startup, which is why I decided to go for an MBA, and IMT was on my list of B-Schools when preparing for my CAT. Soon after IMT, I joined Future group to learn the retail side of the business, and after a while, I was ready, and I left my job and went back to my hometown and started research. After around 18 months, I opened my first cloud kitchen, and that's how my venture started.
Life at IMT involved balancing between academics as well as practically applying what we learnt. My first business opportunity was at IMT. There was a food fest, and I had the chance to set up my own food counter. This gave me a sense of having a real business. There were many such events, and I was a part of the cultural club, Antragna, where we used to have some major events and small-scale events where I had the opportunity to lead a team. This is what IMT offers, there are various teams which are well networked and work together for major events.
My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to start early and start small. Apply the concepts that you learn during your MBA. A couple of years of experience in the industry would really help you learn entrepreneurial skills and practically apply theoretical knowledge.
"Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great."
IMT Hyderabad heartily congratulates Mr. Roshan Kedia for emerging as one of the top 50 Winners at Investors' Knowledge Quest. It was a national level online competition on “Securities Lending & Borrowing” organized by NSE and NSDL.
We are extremely proud of you and your achievement and wish you many years of great accomplishments.
Why did you decide to go for an MBA from IMT Hyderabad?
IMT Hyderabad was pretty much a new institution back then and I think we were the second batch. After my CAT, I was eligible for IMT Hyderabad. I was excited that the IMT cadre has come to Hyderabad. As I knew about the Ghaziabad branch, I decided to go for IMT Hyderabad.
When did you know that you wanted to become a life coach and work in this field?
I could not say no to an opportunity like this when I realized that it offered me job flexibility and self-development.
What clubs and committees were you a part of at IMT Hyderabad, and how do you think they helped you grow?
I was a part of the core committee of Periodos, and we were the first batch to have conducted Periodos. I was the head of the sponsorship department, and it was phenomenal experience. I mean, I got a flavour of end to end organising and coming up with the rules, regulations. The entire framework was a lot of hard work, but I learned a lot about managing events and building the whole flow from scratch.
Tell us about the exciting journey at your Company and some of the challenges that you faced while building your Company.
Initially, my Idea of handling a business was different, but now I would like to say that I play the role of a mother and an entrepreneur so seamlessly that I cannot believe it. It frequently happens that I am working at my home office, and my kid is right next to me, playing or drawing, doing something of her own. For me, this is the best part of my work.
I am a workaholic, and before that, I did not even realise that. After having my first baby I started spending time with her too, along with my work. This is when I started looking for alternate career options, and after pondering I decided on life coaching, life coaching is all about self-development. There were a lot of challenges, firstly there was a taboo that live coaching must be a free service.
What are some of the skills that you learned at IMT Hyderabad, that have come handy with where you are today?
IMT instilled in me the quality of being a team player, there were a lot of projects that we used to do at the end of every term and a lot of market surve
