[Official] CAT 2013 Aspirants

@ASR2013 I will suggest you to do a topic in a day or two instead of focussing on the time you invest. This way you won't care for the time but will aim to finish the topic with interest. :)
For eg:
Mon - Time speed distance (TSD) concepts
Tue - TSD Practice
Wed - 15 RCs + 15 DI sets
etc..

@ abhinavg86: thanks mate

@ abhinavg86: thanks mate

one more query. can you suggest me a time table for preparation. considering im findin it difficult to start with.. my quants is weak by my assumptions. confident on verbal and DI though. still how should i start with all the three to devise a time table for the next 3 months. Have bought Sarvesh Verma for quants

@lamborghiniluvr BTW you should prepare a time table to your convenience ,I can only give you an illustration like I just gave above..
For eg:
Mon - Time speed distance (TSD) concepts
Tue - TSD Practice (L1,L2 from Sarvesh Verma)
Wed - 15 RCs + 15 DI sets
Thurs - VA Grammar + Grammar practice from old CAT papers
Fri - 15 LR sets + Ratio proportion concepts +practice
Sat - Sectional test/Mock test + analysis
Sun - Chill madu + wordlists :)

This way you will be somewhat happy by the end of the week that you touched all 3 sections and also took a test. Try to read good newspapers like Hindu or Firstpost online daily.

Which is best book to follow for preparing Quants for a beginner ? Quantum CAT (Arihant Publications) or ArunSharma's Book ?

@abhinavg86 thanks mate. will start from today... is it no good to follow Sarvesh Verma in the order of the chapters given there starting from basic calculation shortcuts and other arithmetic. BTW i read loads of stuff daily so i guess that should take care of RC and VA
@rameshiit19 I found Arihant's book very good. It has good questions and explanations of solved examples in a simple manner.
@abhinavg86 thanks

@lamborghiniluvr ofcourse you can follow in any order but i will suggest you to start with the biggies like Number system --> Geometry --> Arithmetic--> others in that order. The reason being these chapters have a lot of concepts to trick someone with different kinds of problems. Also they have had a high presence in earlier CAT papers. :)

@tonymba and @iimonly

thanks for ur response. However, i am not clear about Bs criteria. They allot 15% to tenth, 10 %to 12th and 15% to graduation after normalization of scores. But, do they allot the same points to those above a threshold like iima which gives 3 points if ur above 80%...or do they allot points based on the absolute scores i.e a guy with 85% in grad would get more points than a guy with80%. ??

@abhinavg86 as you say then
@TootaHuaDil @crazyrat Thanks a lot for ur suggestions guys..

@SBRPhoenix Unfortunately YES I know its quite difficult to get 90% in WB board [Though i heard that it has become easier since 2010]...I have also heard that its really difficult in Mumbai University too but these people just dont understand that. They measure everyone by the same yardstick & thats really tragic....Can u imagine someone with a good score of 92% in ICSE, ISC getting only 11/20? Thats why u find sooo many HATE MESSAGES in Kozhikode & Indore thread every year....
I m from West Bengal Board and Scored 96% and 90% taking all subjects as per new cat rule for calculating X and XII %age in class X and XII respectively more over i m a male non engineer currently in my final year of graduation...CAT 2012 totally depressed me with mere 80 percentile....determined to make it to 98+ in coming cat....and I know ek bar 99 a jaye toh(apart from the weird criteria of WMIWI(IIMA) of 80% in grad)
call ayegah baki seh..so with this dream of making 99 again started prep
