@TONYMBA -wat all extracurriculars can I do to boost my profile which can later help in the interviews??
those are rumours....all that is required to crack an interview are good conscience, proper mindset, apt to learn & the skill sets you have learnt from your past
It will be added as work ex, however you ll be asked questions on what u did durin your work period. It would be good if u are able to get into a project soon enough. In the mean while you could do some certifications either in technical or non technical areas like MIS. This would act as a value ad to ur CV :)
@ibad786 :I had also purchase TF materia last yearl....I have given only few ICAT'still now....will it get expired or can I ask the admins to extend my period?
@Teja5 More than the course material what matters is the student and his hard work. However, some good subsidiary books do help students. Just google 'Books for CAT' and you will find it.
@ss. In terms of profile, you can still make it to a lot of colleges. IIT Chennai has just opened doors for non engineers if I remember correctly, there is XIMB and XLRI (thru XAT), there is Symbi (thru SNAP), NMIMS (probably not top 20 but good nonetheless). So there are still plenty of opportunities.
@saurav.kgp Hi, MIS is management Information Systems. It deals with ERP, Customer Management Systems etc. and how they will ad value to the organization. Its a combination of management principles and IT.
@ss. Hello, most B-Schools are giving special interest to non engineers so you will have a chance of making it into one of the best schools if you work really hard.
As for dropping out to prepare for CAT, I wouldn't say its a wise idea. In PIs you will have to give a valid reason for dropping out and preparing for CAT will not be good enough.
In the mean time, you can join your family business or a friend's entrepreneurial venture and prepare for CAT simultaneously. This will be considered as work experience and you would have wasted one complete year :)
Expert opinions requestedHi .. I messed up in CAT this time. 3 Years back i gave it and got some 86 percentile.( 96 in qa/di and 70 in va&lr; This year i got 52 , same in both the sections. I now have a work experience of almost 22 months in IT on the role of a Business analyst. This year i have joined Career launcher weekend classes, Noida Center.(after the CAT exam)My scores academically are: X:89.5% CBSEXII: 74.4% CBSEB.TEch: 70.2% HBTI KanpurAccording to current CAT scenarios and cut offs etc what can i expect. I would do MBA only if i get some tier 1 college. What sort of preparation strategy shall i follow. This year i am looking forward to do the best i can. And i know i can . Please share your expert reviews.
ur XII percentage can play spoil sport .. rest is fine ..also u have 22 months work as of now which will be 30 + by the time u apply for CAT and since ur role was of business analyst that might earn brownie points :)
complete the study material first and then go for online sectional tests ( u may do this parallely )
u may go for additional test series also , if u need one
My profile:Class X: 85.33% (CBSE)Class XII: 76% (CBSE) -this is where the problem is....B.Tech: 8.34 cgpavery little extracurriculars..dat too at school level..working in TCS....currently on bench...3 months work exp..with this profile, what r my chances of being selected in a top 20 or 25 B School, if I have a good score in CAT 2013 nd other xams nd a good GD,PI?
If top 20 top 25 is your target ..there are number of colleges which may call you for interviews 76 in XII and 3 mnths work ex might not be big problem for many colleges :)
