@bvdhananjay Wow congrats man 😃 U have a very balanced profile, & thats a huge weight off ur shoulders 😃 As for eligibility, IIM-A--> 99.1
IIM C--> 99.61 (this is their normal cut-off, even if it appears high)
IIM-L--> 99.5+
IIM-I--> for them, once u get 90 up with balanced sectional, it doesnt matter if u are 99.1 or 100 or only 91 [I know!!! its absolutely rubbish!!!]. Only ur acads are gonna matter & ur 80+ throughout profile will sail through....[Atleast this year, this was the criteria. Next year, it may change though]
new IIMs--> anything above 97+
Unfortunately, u will not get calls from S (engg cut-off of a mind-numbingly stupid figure-- 87.3%). K & B [very tough].
Then there are the other big colleges like FMS, MDI (a score of 99.5+ will cement ur place even with a bad PI), NITIE, SJMSOM, IIT-D (99.2 is more than enough). The great, XLRI is also there but they dont give too much weightage to ur past. U need u give a balanced performance there to convert---> good XAT score+ good PI..... SIBM-P, SCMHRD, NMIMS, IMT-G (marketing) -->can be ur back-up options if u are too desperate to do ur MBA in 2014-16 session... Best of luck 😃 Be happy that for u, the headache of whether I am gonna get a call even if I rock in CAT, is virtually non-existent :D

bro thanks a lot.. bt that 82.4 in xth does not include hindi.. I had french and eng as my languages.. Hindi was an additional subject for me and given nly to satisfy the government services catergory.
do i need to include it to calculate the xth percentage??
If yes den includin that makes my percentage to 78.7... Nw does that greatly reduce my chances for the same colleges??? This is imp pls
@ordinary_guy thank u sir for ur motivating remarks....as of work ex it is 9 months till date nd yes 1 more query.....do i stand a chance 2 make it to any old iims nd wt score is roughly required 2 get a call????
@bvdhananjay Actually they do mention repeatedly that include ALL SUBJECTS when u fill up ur marks section or u can be disqualified during verification at the GD/PIs.... WB board & CBSE students faced the same problem this year.... U may ask any senior in ur board who is already studying or EVEN BETTER, ask the IIM help-line once the registration begins. But as far as what I've seen goes, they will ask u to include it, especially when its HINDI.... Yes, including that does hamper quite a few calls. Like for IIM-A, for this slight variation, u now will need 99.9+, for IIM-C, 99.7x+, no Indore Call..... L, new IIMs and the non-IIMs remain the same though... Honestly, i hope that they let u consider 82.4 or else it will be quite tragic.... Lets just hope for the best & even in case of 78.7, u do have a substantial no. of GREAT colleges at ur disposal. So no need to feel down.... Wait till August atleast before feeling sorry for urself.... Best of luck bro :)
@imrover Bhai, IIFT does'nt look into ur past that much... Obviously someone having a great profile will leave a good impression in the minds of the panel but that's where it ends... Usually it is considered that a guy with a very high IIFT score will NOT get rejected as the emphasis on the entrance test score is quite huge.... One the IIFT result is declared, u can go through the convert thread & u will notice this trend... But a good IIFT score + good PI is an unbeatable combo in IIFT.... Profile does'nt play much part there....
@simplydevesh Plz dont call me 'SIR' as I too have 13 months work-ex & a first-timer 😃 Yes, u do have chances in IIM-C (99.61), L (99.5+), new IIMs (98+, to be safe).....

But hindi wasnt my subject in Xth or even in IXth..I had french as my subject! Hindi was given just for government services eligibility criteria! I hope they allow me to include 82.4, i seriously wish the do.. Jo bi ho.. i wud give my best shot at cat 2013...
@bvdhananjay Were there many students who gave the Hindi exam? 😲 Is it mentioned in ur scorecard? 😲 Were there any other additional subjects or just this hindi? :O
yes there were others who also gave hindi.. yes it is mentioned in my scorecard... And only hindi was my additional subject and that too for only for government services...
@ordinary_guy a lot of students give the Hindi exam additionally in Xth because clearing that is an eligibility criteria for government services etc....
@bvdhananjay Well buddy, from the looks of it, it does seem like u may have to add that too 😞 Since it will be explicitly mentioned in ur mark-sheet, they will ask u to add it, in all probability....

that kind of puts an end to the old iim dreams... Right?
@bvdhananjay Not really bro.... L is pretty much the same. C has increased slightly (99.7+)... but then again, don't lose hope.... If u can convince the organizing officials that the Hindi score is just a formality, not a necessity, then u may sneak in with ur ideal profile (80+ throughout).... Keep in mind that at first, they will persist with their standard line--- ADD ALL SUBJECTS but u should keep on persisting as its ur life & ur dreams.... BTW, which board do u belong to? Amidst all the conversation, I forgot to ask this main thing.... How can French be in the compulsory list of subjects? 😲 Finally, dont lose hope till the help-line people tell u to add Hindi... Keep ur hopes up, it all depends upon ur convincing power....
@ordinary_guy from cbse board.. After class 8 v cn chose any of the 3 languages.. Hindi french or sanskrit.. So i chose french. R u sayng that initially i put my marks as 82.4 and den later i shud try and convince d organizing officials that the hindi marks are jst a formality? By organizing officials u mean individual colg officials or the officials f cat 2013??
@bvdhananjay Oh! And u took the blunderous decision to select 2 of the mentioned 3? 😃 Kya bhai? 😃 Khud ke payer pe hi kulari chala di? 😃 No no no, don't fill 82.4 during filling of the CAT form & change it later... They are not gonna give u any chance to explain urself as it is clearly mentioned in their Rules & Regulation during registration..... During registration itself, a help-line number will be provided & u should pitch ur query there... At the same time, u can contact IIM-A,C & I seniors(the institutes where u have the maximum chances of facing problems due to this 82.4 or 78.7 dilemma bcoz 78.7 basically disqualifies u from getting a call from them. So if they deem that u have misleaded them, that will be a criminal offence as clearly mentioned) & explain ur doubt in detail.... That should give u a clear idea....
@ordinary_guy bt i think that wudnt solve any probs since m sure they wudnt remember my particular case out f the thousands f queries they wud get... And even if they say fill 82.4 they can easily go back n their words..
and i din pick 2 subjects aftr class 8... I picked up jst french.. And during d xth board exam gave d hindi exam aftr 1 day f prep.. Cz it wudnt matter even if i wud hv failed.. Cz it was an additional subject.
do u think a letter or something from d cbse board sayin that the subject must nt b counted n calculation of percentage wud help?? And the result stands irrespective f my score in hindi...
@ordinary_guy bro actually on the reverse of d xth marksheet it is mentioned that for a candidate to b considered pass he needs 2 pass in 5 external examinations... And d additional language shall b considered only when one fails in the main subjects under some constraints.. So i think it is wrong on the part f the iims to make us include the additional subject for percentage calculations..
They shud however make it a point that additional subjects are not considered for percentage calculations...
Is dere anyway i can take it to d cat authorities?? Now seems d best time.. Or anyway that pagalguy can voice dis to the cat authorities.. So that it isnt unfair to students like me.. Esp who give hindi as an additional subject.. Jst to fulfil eligibility criteria for govt jobs??
if ne one knows any pagalguy mod.. Please inform him if he/she can take d matter to thr cat authorities.
