We cannot exactly predict on the characteristics that the interviewers are looking for in an aspirant.
On the basis of our personal experiences and interaction with peers we can say that they expect atleast the following characteristics/qualities in a potential candidate:
1. Clarity of thought: The approach you have towards porblems. You may not necessariyy have the solution but the approach is very important. Try to proceed step by step towards any situation that the interviwer presents in front of you, divide the problem into parts and try to answer each part individually before collating them in the end.
2. Awareness about recent happenings and Business knowledge:Â Please perpare well about the who's who of the business world. Also be prepared to answer questions relating to the recent happenings across the nation and around the world. Please read a english daily to increase your awareness.
3. Academic Background: Please be prepared to answer basic and a few advanced questions pertaining to your academic background and undergraduation stream.
4, Extra and Co-curriculars: Please prioritise your extra curriculars in the order of relevance towards managerial decision making and problem solving characteristics, most certainly point out towards your initiative taking ability, leadership skills, scheduling and ordering acumen, team player qualities etc.
5. Work Experience:Â There may be a detailed discussion on your work experience if any.
6. Be prepared to answer diverse questions relating to your native place, state, background, religion, political views, social stand etc.
While this list is not exhaustive it may help you in drive your interview. All the bestÂ
Puys let me know what category certificate are needed for verification at iim interviews.I have a NC-obc category certificate needed for govt. job application will that suffice or we need the exact certificate format of iim although the content is same.Also let me know if income certificate is needed separately as non creamy layer clause is mentioned already in my NC-obc certi... Â

My TISS-NET score is 68 and category is NC-OBC.
My admit card had shown category as NC-OBC and the cutoff for same is 64.Â
But today in scorecard, it is showing me category as General and cutoff as 76. Hence not shortlisted !!
Plz tell me what to do in this case.....

Interview : 2 male and 1 female professor.. i was last one in my panel...
First question asked before I sat down.... write algo for bubble sort.... i was confused a bit...explained it with help of an example...then asked other sorting algos, their complexity and which is the best one.....till here it was OK... then 1 of the professor gave me Drunken Cockroach problem and asked me to write its algo.... i was stumped...i replied that i had never even heard of it...they explained but i did nt understand....went on like this fr next 5 mins but i maintained my composure...this was the worst moment in my interview....
then suddenly they started talking abt TCS layoffs...i replied but they linked my why mba to it... i said no.... i want to diversify my skillset blah blah blah... they cut me short and asked u want to do an MBA to boost up ur career growth?.... i also replied YES and there is nothing wrong in it.....then they asked why shud we reject you? I replied that i was nt able to solve drunken cockroach problem...they said no...tell us something else.... i kept smiling but did nt reply.... then they asked why shud we select you?
that was where i felt like that it is my moment.... i replied and linked it to my career goal and i kept on talking for next 8-10 mins and they did nt cross question me.....they just listened...
and then they said Ok ...thank u...u may leave...
So..this was it...my first interview...JOKA...i think first 15 mins it was average....but last 10 mins i was able to make some impact on them....or this is what i assume...lets wait fr d result...
