They already had most of the photocopies that applicants had sent to NITIE while applying to NITIE. So they collected only the ones they did not have (like the CAT score card photocopy). They asked me for 10th Certificate of Marks as it has the DOB on it. ( I had submitted 10th Marksheet which does not have the column for DOB in it. )

The seniors really helped a lot. Thanks a lot to them.
It's only for the educational certificates dude... to add on character certificate is not mandatory at the time of GD/PI, if you don't have one then they will ask you to give a undertaking that you will submit it at the time of admissions.... here are some points for ppl having GD/PI on 13th and 14th..
1. Seniors are very helpful so you need not to worry about anything. If you miss some photocopy, they will be there to help you out.
2. If someone has real emergency, talk to seniors with proof (like return flight tickets etc), they will reschedule your GD/PI.
3. If you have not recieved call letters you need not to worry. You will get a duplicate copy on the spot.
4. Be prepared to stay till 7-8 pm (if you are not very lucky).

Was going thru all the experiences posted here... All look pretty decent... One interview whr someone was quizzed excessively on sports 😃 , well it's ok not to answer all the questions... u ve tackled it in a pretty decent way by saying 'total football' and all...
Mane Garrincha was Pele's strike partner. One of his legs was shorter than the other. So basically he was physically handicapped. But he worked on it and leveraged it to make it a strength.... the physical disability enabled him to dribble the ball amazingly well...

Said points like that brand defines the quality of a product, people correlate different products with their brands and some gyaan.
Talked about Education sector with schools like DPS,DAV running their schools successfully abroad for the last 8-10 years.
Talked about Medical Tourism ppl coming to India for medical treatment..........some gyaan.
Infy listed on Nasdaq etc. etc and 1-2 examples.
I would rate the GD as average, coz of fish market, many ppl engaging in parallel one to one discussion etc.
The moderators even put their pens down while we were carrying on. :(

We had to reach NITIE at 8am...
We all were made to sit in an auditorium and given a presentation in detail...i have to say though thw whole thing was very long and drawn out but the background music in the presentations were AWESOME :)
One by one the groups were sent for the verification process..followed by GD and PI
A word of praise for all the seniors who ran the show nicely especially getting the photocopies done for everyone who hadnt got the photocopies for CAT scorecard,10th markscard etc etc..Well done TEAM IMPACT !!!
AS i belonged to the group who had got their GD/PI dates rescheduled, naturally ours was the last group to be called for verification which ended at the stroke of lunch hour....
Lunch was in the mess of NITIE, after which i met a senior who studies in NITIE and he took me around the college...the view of Powai lake and VIHAR lake is quite awesome...u have to see it to believe it :)...
AFter lunch the GD took place...

A healthy discussion with no fish market at all...a couple of cross talks which dies down in a couple of secs...I did ok types here...started the GD...gave 3-4 good points in between and started the summarizing part at the end...OVERALL a good GD...

had mine on 14th. as all have mentioned we were supposed to report at 8 in the audi which was followed by the nitie presentation which yes had amazing background music and also help me clear few of my doubts.
there are a few criticism about the process but i would appreciate the IMPACT team for the way they have handled the whole process and the entertainment they provided was really good. they were really friendly and helped all the students calm down.
now coming to my process,
i was the last guy scheduled on 14th so for me it was a long wait till the time i was called for verification process (but enjoyed the time watching nitie videos and other stuff) our verification process got over with the announcement of lunch break and had our gd after the lunch.
during the lunch had interaction with amit srivastav who cleared a lot of my doubts which made me prepared for the pi. after the lunch it was gd time
GD topic: Is there racial discrimination against Indian Celebrities.
Candidates: 10
Panel members: 6
Time division: 3mins to think + 18 mins to discuss + 2 mins to summarize
GD started off with shilpa shetty case then came in harbhajan and we were out of points. could not find more points to discuss. one of the candidates did come up with vijay malya case but was himself not aware of the case in depth so could not be discussed. We discussed on the various circumstances under which this happens and the role of media in this was also discussed. Was overall an average discussion from the points coming but there was no fish market and good sync. amongst the participants so seemed decent.
my role in gd:
entered after quite some time but with a some good point and then made 3-4 more enteries and to be sure that i was noticed.
went back to audi enjoyed the quiz being conducted by nishant and our very own billi and the chocolates won...
PI time as per the schedule would have happened at 6- 6:30 but had a train to catch and thanks to seniors - Jayendran and Tanu they got it rescheduled and was sitting in front of panel at 4:00.

Really didn like the way it was planned. We were asked to assemble at 8:00am in the auditorium and i was in group 20. My turn came for PI came at 6:30pm.

First of all this is not to be taken as a post in defense nor is this a justification... Its everyone's right to post his/her views. Fact is, at MBA we don't learn to focus on Questions and Complains. Rather we look forward to getting Constructive Feedback from within ourselves and outside and then providing Solutions.
Now regarding the presentation, couple of facts why it could not have been avoided:
1. We need to inform students what all we have in offer for an aspirant like you and hundreds of other. You might know them all but we can't assume the same for everyone.
2. We wanted to showcase the kind of freedom students enjoy at NITIE unlike many other B-Schools:
a) We had the entire control over the operations, starting from the panel preparations to getting the xeroxes done to marking the attendance to handling the entire auditorium with a full strength of around 220 to so many other minute details... Trust us there was not even an iota of faculty intervention nor was any approval required..!!
b) Where do you find students of a B-School screening movies or conducting Quizzes just to keep the students anxiety level down, when a process as formal and critical as GD-PI is going on... Again no intervention from Faculty obtained nor any approval sought..!!
Of coursethese things were not part of the presentations but the presentation had to mention the amount of freedom we enjoy and that was done in the presentation of Student's Activities.
3. Last but not the least, almost all the aspirants have the following queries:
a) How are IM/ISEM/ITM courses different?
b) What was the placement scenario (as in profiles/sectors) this year?
c) What all extra-curricular activities do we have at NITIE?
d) How we as a B-School are perceived in the outside world and
through the eyes of media?
Imagine what would have happened if we had not done the presentation... There would have been umpteenth number of queries to the volunteers from so many candidates... and if we would have got engaged in answering them personally... then entire operations would have had come to a standstill.
Our only message to the entire student's fraternity is that, all of us at this side of the fence.... (or for that matter any B-School and their students) think of the aspirant's convenience as the very first thing, and then try to design the process considering all the constraints.

I simply did not find NITIE worth that much effort.
Guess, this is really an unwanted comment... You might not be interested... As I was not interested for IIM-I and IIT-B last year... But never posted it like this...!!
This is a public forum and not a place to put forward your grudges... Not everyone had to wait till 8:00 P.M. Only those people who had got their rescheduled had to wait for the whole day. The reason being others scheduled for that day had to be treated first. And just to correct your facts almost half the total number of aspirants on each day were done with the GDs and PIs in the first half (that is by 1:00 P.M.) itself...
Neways... no points in discussing all these... as you did not see the process you would not be able to appreciate what NITIE is and where does it really stand...!!

Had my GDPI on 11th march 2008 at NITIE.
reached the NITIE on 10th evening itself and the Team IMPACT was guiding and helping a lot to get the accomodation and also to know abt the process in prior to the gdpi.
campus is greensome:).... i was given a room in 7th floor in pgp1&2 hostel. there were some power cuts accompanied by lift fault, which forced me to climb up and down the staircase several times
......but leaving that, on the previous day night, personally IMPACT members Amit and Gautam came to each room and greeted us and also shed light on the process...
The process started at 8AM in the auditorium which is located on a hill top:wink: bcos again some 100steps had to climbed to reach there....
certificate verification:
i produced the character certificate from my college which was dated 2006. and i said my company doesn't give any such certis... then that mam asked me, 'how do we know that your character has not changed during these 2 yrs' :shock:
after seeing my cat score printout, she asked - 'you have got other calls then why do you want to join here'.... i said, i am interested thats why i am here now...
(but still i dont understand why she asked me that.)

i was in group 13 for GD.

discussion was peaceful, with me chipping in just 4 times with some decent points....
then when the panel rang the bell for commencing the summary, every one was looking at each other to start.... then again panel said "you may start summary now"
then it started... but nothin really to summarize... i also just gave 2 summary pts and our group stopped and relinquished the speech before our stipulated time.

saying "not many are interested in nitie is baseless". The reason that many have not yet posted their gd/pi experience is because most would have been in travel to mumbai and may have other interviews like me. Coming to the case of NITIE process though it was a bit time consuming, to be fair to the seniors it was really well organized. As mentioned before only candidates like me who had rescheduled gd had to wait till late evening. Not all were made to wait. Further the presentations were definitely not boring. Only after seeing that did i realise that nitie is one of the 15 centres of excellence of government along with iims,iisc and iits. May be a few people would have got bored about waiting. But that cannot take the sheen away from the efforts the seniors put in organizing the process.
They even took care of taking photocopies of our documents while we remained seated. They dint trouble us asking to run here and there looking for xerox machine. Such gestures only show the extent to which the seniors are willing to help all. Further i guess not a single person would have groaned about a lack of replies from impact team regarding any admission queries. They were very prompt all these days. So its unfair to zoom on the shortcomings when you have a lot on the positive side.
ps: sorry for spamming gd thread but felt i should tell people about the efforts of seniors.

First of all sincere apologies for intruding your thread but i cant stop myself pointing a fact out here.
When should a person say that out of X,Y and Z he chose X as he was not intrested in Y and Z? Only when the person has option of choosing any one of them......
From your previous posts i have found out that out of the two institutes names mentiond in your post above and ur institute u had an option of choosing only your institute, do correct me if am wrong(or u had a choice but u dint post on pg then please clear my doubt)?
So i would re-iterate your words with slight modifications that this is a public forum and not a place to put forward your grudges/manipulations ......

to be fair to the seniors it was really well organized.

The way the entire set of seniors were searching for some guy who took his GD and disappeared before PI ( I dont know whether he returned ) they were very concerned and made all efforts to trace him! It really shows how much care was shown even to a person who cared not to attend the entire process / went mid-way.
Even i had apprehensions about my turn coming at say 7 pm or something. But to tell the truth, when i had my interview at 6 (one of the very last persons for the day, as i had rescheduled) i hardly felt it was an agonizing wait! Instead, i had so much fun b4 the GD/PI started. Nobody had their PI after 6:30, to the best of my knowledge, atleast on 12th. The process can be improved for the next year by having 2 batches maybe. But it does not warrant this kind of remarks by people who never came.

yeah very true... the process was actually commendable... i was the last person to be interviewed on march 13th 2008 in panel 1 and i went in for the interview at around 5.20pm... and was out by around 5.35pm... further this was because i had rescheduled my interview and in all fairness to others, my intvw had to be at the last... and the panel also didnt show any signs of weariness inspite of conducting intvws whole day...
i feel the guys@NITIE handled it very well... maybe like u suggested, next year the candidates can be divided into two batches and given time slots which can help the candidates a bit...
All in all, a job well done by the IMPACT team... particularly, i liked the quizzing in the audi!!!

Came in twice properly, everyone shut up and listened (including the panel I hope :)), which was a pleasant surprise
spoke about ads dat are useful like for NGOs, AIDS awareness etc.
den second time spoke about ads dat are used for passing information for eg. the nitie admission notices in papers
said something in the summary
then came the long wait
before the lunch break i was told i'll be the third candidate after the break :-)
surprise surprise, was called for PI at the fag end of the day coz all the outstation ppl were called before me 
Finally The PI:

M : Tkd abt clg, being topper, scholarships moving on to extra curriculars when suddenly was stopped...
P1 : Which stream have you did your engineering in?
M : Civil Engineering sir (unfortunately :sad:)
P1 : All right tell me about the biggest civil engineering structures you have seen and visited
M : Duh...(mind went completely blank here :bad-word:)
then suddenly a flash... sir i have seen mumbai-pune express highway and...and...and...then had to make do with Brahma Sarovar (pretty damn surprised to see one of the panelists nodding at the mention of this name :satisfie:)
P1 : All right, describe brahma sarovar in technical civil engineering terms :shock:
M : Duh again...(Pehla powerplay to barbad ho gaya 
)
P1 : How about the expressway?
M : Finally an answer came from yours truly 
P2 : So where have you been working?
M : Told
P2 : Where is your office located?
M : Told.. then two panelists started having discussion about where the office was exactly located 
P3 : So which language have u been programming in?
M : No languages, working in and ERP
P3-4 : Questions on the ERP and my role at work
M : Finally, pehla chaukka
P2 : What about your extra curriculars?
M : Mentioned a couple of points then was asked to stop
P : All right then, you may leave, all the best (ye kya, second half se pehle hi redcard 
)
Finally the season is over and I can relax and loaf around 😃

I had my GD/PI on 13th March. I want to thank the IMPACT team for making such a brilliant arrangement for GD/PI. From the moment I stepped into NITIE campus and till I left NITIE, the experience was above my expectations. This year I have attended GD/PIs for other institutes also, but none was like NITIE. Seniors helped in all the ways that were possible, starting from accommodation, photocopies, breakfast, entertainment between GD/PI (which helped to ease our pressure), etc. Kudos to the IMPACT team and everyone who were involved in the GD/PI process.
Some Suggestions (my personal views):
1. It would have been better if GD/PI process was divided into two parts (maybe one from 8 am and the other from 2 or 3 pm). Already the aspirants were divided into multiple groups and their time slot was pre-determined, probably they should have been called according to the time slot.
2. The presentation on NITIE and various courses was good. I was looking for such informative presentation. But I think instead of sharing these information with us on the GD/PI date, it should have been shared earlier (may be some link in the NITIE site). I think if I would have gone through it earlier, I would have been able to prepare for the PI in a better way. Also some of the pages were skipped fast, I could not go through it. May be a link to that ppt would help for future reference.
Anyway, the experience was great in NITIE and I am definitely looking forward to join NITIE (if given an opportunity).

Date 13th march....panel 6.
Well, this is one of the well organised GD/PI's I have ever thought of or attended...Hatsoff to the seniors...really gr8 job....
They helped for everything, even for getting the photocopies without a word of dissent !! Everyone seemed to be very helpful and responsible for everything...The one thing unique here is the screening of videos and movies in the audi... which took by shockk !! Quizzin in between was also fun...The environment was like some fest. was going on !! :D
So, getting in to the process,
Presentation started rite at 8am....lasted for around 45min..!! Did shed a light on many things we had doubts about !!
Doc. verifications started at around 9....my chance came an hour after....
I missed out because of my unavailability :sad:(poor guy...went on a call..) and was late for my document verification proces....nevermind.... seniors took care and lemme go through the GD within 1hr....i.e, arnd 11....
My panel had 12students and 5-6(don remember xactly...didn see though :-P) panel members....i was the 12 member..... was asked to announce the topic...... "Indian industry lacks visionary leaders...

So abstract....dont think GD went well totally.... no1 had much content...was lingering arnd tata and ambani's.....
Me too tried most to interrupt in middle ...bt invain for abt 6-7mins...but managed to get thru then..... made abt 3valid points....every1 noticed....
So...ok ok typess !!! Time.. : arnd 12pm...
Asked to have lunch and PI's would start at abt 2pm....
was bak in audi by 2pm.....its mvie time again...dil chahta haii :sad:
My turn came at arnd 3pm....
Shocked to see 6panel members there insidee 😲 Didn get a sight of 3 of them in my short lasting 7-10min PI... :D
