When I came there for the GDPI, I was allotted one room in PG 3&4 on twin sharing basis. I am a little bit concerned as the room was not so good. Now, my questions are:
1. Where will we be given accommodation? And how good is it? Will it be twin-sharing?
2. Will there be any LAN-ban at NITIE?
3. What are the scholarships available at NITIE?

Ok here's some light on Hostel Accommodation and the facilities:
1. A two year stay at nothing short of a Hill Resort...
2. Twin Sharing in First Year... and Single Seaters in 2nd Year... (There are quite a few B-Schools providing triple sharing in the 1st year and Twin Sharing in the 2nd year).
3. Attached Bathroom with every room... (Am not aware of any B-School providing this till now... Though there may be some)
4. Completely Wi-fied Hostel... (So u don't have to keep ur lappy plugged in to the LAN Wire.. U can roam around with your lappy and still remain connected)
5. No LAN-BAN at NITIE... 24 Hours Round The Clock High Speed Internet Connectivity. PERIOD.
6. Badminton Court, Basket Ball Court, Volley Ball Court, Cricket Ground, Football Ground, Table Tennis... U name it... we have it..!!
7. Very Advanced State of the Art Gymnasium... (U got to see it to believe it)
8. A TV set not at each hostel, but at each floor of the Hostel... Apart from those in the common room ;). Those who stayed in the new hostel should have seen it..!!
9. 2 Mess to choose from during normal running. One night mess and One NesCafe Counter open throughout night.
10. College's Own Dispensary inside the campus with an ambulance on a 24 by 7 basis for emergency purposes...
Filhaal ke liye 10 kaafi honge... Aur chahiye...?! Do ping... :)
As for scholarships, its available to the needy students, whose family's annual income fall below certain minimum limit. I am not aware of the limit. You can inquire about this once you join the college.
As for ur concern about the hostel accommodation... guess u were plain unlucky to get the room u mentioned... Actually rooms were being alloted on a FCFS basis... So ppl got it in the new hostel, where the 1st year stays... And many got it in MDP hostel... Those who stayed there in MDP hostel should vouch for the level of comfort and beauty of the nature visible from their rooms in MDP hostel...
You need not worry any more... for you will be assigned a very different room than where u were put up...
(BTW do u expect an accommodation in Mumbai for as low as Rs. 100/- ??
NITIE makes it possible once a year for a select few... :D)Cheers,
The average domestic salary this year has been Rs. 13.15 Lacs. The international average is USD 77,500.

in the presentation given to us at Nitie...the average was given as Rs. 11.2 Lacs...
i do remember u talking about waiting for final offers to be made...
so is the new average figure the final one?
as in...is this the number that would be put up on the website at a future date?

If you talk about marketing, we have had P&G; and HLL (dream companies for Marketing enthus) as the biggest recruiters including this year as well... and time and again they have shown their tremendous trust in NITIE students... Other biggies included JnJ, GSK, Pepsico, Nestle, Titan, HCCB and so many more...

Govt has come up with the permission from Supreme Court to implement 27% OBC qouta in all institutes. I don't what gonna happen to the NITIE admission process as IIMs have already declared that their admission process will now be delayed at least by a week. Govt has said they will implement it with effect from this year but seats have not been increased, I don;t know what will happen to list that are already out or the students already been selected.

to add salt to wound, i had resigned a week back from my company... and now this quota thing has brought all my hopes crashing down!!
dunno wat to make of it... NITIE wud obviously have to make way for reservations, but would they really snatch away our seats???

only 134 ppl were selected in the general category i believe!!!!

Hi Nitin and other PGs,
You need to confirm your DD submission yourself.
I sent my DD by Bluedart and It sent me the delivery message the next day.
Just some minutes back, I got it confirmed.
You could call: 022 28573371 and then dial Extn No. 370.
Here you need to ask for "Lalita Maa'm".
(Source: Internet + Amit Srivastava "IMPACT TEAM")
And You need to have your NAME:):oops: (when she asked me my name at first I told her Delhi
so you know....) ,NITIE APPLICATION Number... and course name (PGDIM) ready...She will immediately tell if your DD is there or not.
I got my confirmation
.With the OBC thing out, CAT result might be late...
so with fee submitted... I am waiting for the coming Extended weekend...

There is obviously no reputation at stake as far as NITIE is concerned. They will have to abide by the laws. Had it been, would the IIMs had gone on to delay their results by 1 week. But, something that will clear off the dust and could be expected from a good institute, such a NITIE, is to come forward and explain their plan of action to deal with this issue.
As for me, I am waitlisted at 30 and now clinging to thin hopes of making it to final list of general candidates (which could drop to as low as 90, making me effectively waiting at waitlist rank 74). Hope I make it in the end.

OBC seats are going to be over and above the already existing seats. At least thats the norm so that general seats are not hampered in any way. I'm pretty sure that if a name appears on the list of NITIE, and she/he is taking it, then she/he definitely will be eligible to. There will be no name withdrawls.

Even IIMs give out diplomas buddy. The quota system will be applicable for every central govt. funded intitute, irrespective f degree/diploma. But they have the option to apply it in a phased manner over 3 years.
On another note, I have sent my draft today, expected to get delivered tomorrow.

Just now called one senior from NITIE. He said that the Board will meet on Monday to decide the course of action.

I dont think that there will be any change as far the general category students are concerned. May be they will pick up some OBC students who are already selected under general category and show them as selected in OBC category. After all they require less than 10 OBCs to implement the quota this year and that shouldnot be a great problem. If that is the case, then its good news for GC students in the wailtist.
However, as the creamy layer issue is not yet settled, they may just put the admission list on hold. And that's the last thing I would like to see!!!

I am joining NITIE as of now. When will we know about the final fees breakup and can apply for loan? I will try to pay the initial DD by myself for now - which is tough!!! I don't want to loose this opportunity because of temporary monetary constraints. What other options do I have - can you please guide me.
