Oh no... not again... it is really very painfull to wait... This can happen only in our country... I thought this time there want be any last minute chaos which happened in June'08 exams... but this time also it looks like we are going to have a photo finish... and mean while the aspirants have to keep waiting till the last moment... Why they don't understand...if we are going abroad we need to plan the journey... you cannot get the visas @ last moment...
I guess i am really frustrated... Can't help it but to write and show my frustation...
Rs. 25,000 for Nepal. :new_shocked: Please tell me that includes return ticket. That's a lot costly. Isn't there any other cheaper ticket of diff. air line?
(Would they give me a cheaper ticket if I chose to travel in 'Luggage Section' ? :tellme: )
Train to Delhi will take a lot time & before exam I would like to avoid long travels. (I am from Pune. :() What about stay ?
Please suggest a cheaper way. Oh ! The cheapest actually.
P.S. I just realised how much I need to study. 
Given the Indian justice system I guess I will have to all level's exams' outside India.

can u also share some insights on your exepriences for level 3:
1)how much time did it take for u to prepare for level 3
2)was it your first attempt.
3)which all material did you you use,the cfa books + notes(like stalla or scheweser) also and how did you study...like the time frame and stuff
4)why is L3 considered vastly different from L1 and L2, is the content very tough or the exam very different...
5)any insight that you would like to share....

I'll try to answr your queries in the same order :
1) I started in Feb since Schweser was not avalilable till that time. Then I chnaged my job and could not study for the whole of April and hald of May. So I think I put around 2.5 mths of prep (which explains my low score in L3

3) Used Schweser and skimmed thru CFA books .. Wud suggest using CFA books extensively (at least for L3) since the questions seem to have moved away from just plug and play types that schweser specialises in. Discussed time frame earlier.
4) Since it has 50% essay type questions. Dunno abt others, but I feel L3 is the toughest exam in the three. The other two can be pretty easy due to elimination of choices. Its simple .. in an essay type question, you have no place to hide.
5) I wud like to say that one does not need to spend a lot in buydng a lot of materials/tuitions/flash cards etc. . I believe the testing pattern has definitely moved towards checking the candidates' overall understanging of the content rather han just his memory (in byhearting the formulas/concepts). The CFA books do a great job providing you with real life examples to explain concepts. If you dont get time during the exams atleast read the books after the exam (that reminds me of reading MY fixed income books

by the way just one basic question, I don't know if you made a conscious choice of choosing Schweser or did you make the choice after comparison with other material providers like Stalla??
I guess I chose Schweser in L1 since it was the one that was widely used .. I later compared it to Stalla and spoke wid frns who used Stalla .. From whatever I have gathered so far .. Stalla seems to be even more concise and leaves out quite a few topics .. Between the three ... I would choose Schweser if I had just 2 mths and CFA books if I start 6 mths in advance ..

I saw your profile you are only 23 and done all the three levels... that is simply unbelieveable... when did you start your CFA preperations.. did you took any break in between any levels or you did it in one shot...
So now since you have cleared L3 as well ... what are your future plans..
And one more question.. are you from finance back ground or an engineer!!!

I m from Bombay & I m going to Nepal for Level 1 dec 08. I checked with my agent and the return airfare for Bombay-Delhi-Kathmandu is around 33000 /- with Jet airways. one way ticket is around 15500 /- .
I read somewhere that we can save a lot of money if we take train while returning home. but i first need to check about the train route and how many days it will take from Kathmandu to back home in Bombay.
I have not yet booked my tickets. but planning to book on 4th or 5th december. one has to keep some buffer time before exam.

the return tickets from delhi to kathmandu are around 12k right now. u can search for agents of royal nepal airlines in mumbai who can get the tickets for u. unfortunately, it doesnt have an online booking system. search for their website and u can find the list of their gaents in mumbai.
otherwise, u can book train tickets upto gorakhpur in up which is close to the border. from what i know, its around 12 hours from gorakhpur to kathmandu by bus though u would have to change buses at the border.

Go to CFA, CFP, CPA, CAIA, FRM, CLU, ChFC, CASL, and CPCU Exam Prep and Review Solutions - Schweser.com. They have some online tests, but they charge for that. you can get those tests from rapidshare.com or esnips.com. Search & download the tests.
Man, I have just completed 9 study sessions. 😞 And, you are talking about tests ? :shocked:
Anyway, one query! In quants, we need z-table, t-table & other tables. Would we get those in exam center ?
