I have downloaded the videos. I saw Economics' videos. I did not find them so much helpful. The presentation is not good. No prior introduction of the subject in the beginning. It was like, he was expecting to walk me at the birth. For engineers I am sure it won't be of a any use. Even for finance guys, I don't think it will be of much use. Prefer Schweser videos. I have heard they are good. I am trying to get my hands on them.
No. Your technical exp. will not be sufficient. And, it won't even be counted for CFA. Don't worry for work experience so much. Even clearing L-2 & L-3 means a lot & you can get a good job on that.
Ye, many engineers are doing CFA. (I am one of them ) I have gone through some of the material. You really need to put a lot effort into it.You may not understand a lot of notes. So you have to google those terms. Hurry, the fees are going to increase after 15th August. (In case you are preparing for L-1 Dec'0
Thank you..............
I have found some rapidshare links for the videos.......
Level 1:
1. Core Video Series 2. Problem Solving Video Series 3. Video Seminar Series 4. mp3 Study Sessions 5. Schweser notes 2006, 2007, 2008 6. SchweserPro Question Bank 2007 7. Schweser Quick Sheets 8. Other Useful Ebooks 9. Schweser Secret Sauce 10. Practice and Sample Papers
Buddy ... u r rite ..In June 08 Paper was conducted in Mumbai but it got confirmed only one week before the Exam Date ... I hope it wud get clear very soon for December exam ...As the case hearing is scheduled on 25th August .. :)
so we cant surely give India as centre if we register till 15 August...but can we change the centre later on?...lets say, we give kathmandu first, then change it to mumbai if the case says its allowed in India?...i think thats what those who gave in June did...let me know...
Offer codes are used for promotional discount, if you dont have offer code simply leave it blank, if you provide offer codes you get a discount on $1078, but since you dont have offer codes leave it blank and proceed ahead with your registeration and make a payment.
I hope your doubts are cleared.

Someone please answer this query. What are these offer codes ? :tellme:
As of now you cannot opt India as test centre, since 15th August is second dead line i would suggest you register before that and give any other centre which you feel you can go to if test centre in India is not permitted. The final hearing of the case is on 25th August after which the picture would be pretty clear and then if the judgement is in favour of CFA then we can give exam in India and we can change the test centre with out any extra cost.
Last time in June similar thing happened, just 8 days before the exams they allowed Indian students to take exam in Mumbai and there orignal exam tickets of foreign centres were allowed to take test in Mumbai. However this time it would not result in last minute changes as the final hearing is on 25th August and we have enough time to decide after the courts judgement.
So my advice to you would be if you are really thinking of giving the exam register now by selecting a foreign country and then if judgement comes in our favour we can change our centre to India with out any extra cost. I have opted for Singapore as the test centre, but I am very much hopefull that decision would be in favour of CFA.
Take care,

hiii everyone, I am an engineer in the final year and would be soon pursuing CFA course...... I just wanted to know whether the Investment/Equity research work that is done at KPOs like evalueserve and smart cube or rocsearch eligible for the CFA charter or no??? plz reply asap
Cudnt really understand your question but I think it might mean:
(1) Whether an Investment Research experience at the above KPOs count towards the 4 yr work ex required for the award of the CFA Charter?
The answer is I think Yes.It should definitely count.
(2) Would the CFA program help you in an Investment Research profile?
well actually my question was intended to be the first question that you have specifically quoted...thank you for clarifying...... on a second thought I just wanted to know will even something as basic as Level 1 cleared would get me an investment research job in a KPO or no??? with an engineering degree which companies would give give me an investment research profile..... I guess that would be a good way to work towards my requisite work experience of four years for the charter....
Well I graduated this yr frm IIT Delhi and applied to all sorts of Investment Banks and KPOs for a job in Finance. My experience says that it is quite impossible to get a job in Investment Research without any CFA Levels.
But after CFA Level 1 you should be able to get into KPOs without much problem. Also since you have a good academic background in the form of DCE you could apply to various other Investment Banks/Equity Research firms.
I am taking the CFA Level 1 Exam this December and expect to get into a good Equity Research profile thereafter.
However, thoughts such as whether you will be able to get a job after Level 1 shouldnt stop you frm pursuing the CFA Charter. In case you are planning a long term career in Finance, you should go ahead with the CFA Charter without thinking about the job prospects after CFA level 1.
sir can u tell me about some good KPOs which I can target off campus where after l1 or l2 I can target a investment research profile..... at the moment the following comes to DCE>>>>>
evalueserve dunnhumby rocsearch smartcube grail research
Please PM me your queries and limit the discussion on this thread to CFA only.
In yesterday's TOI, there was an ad from ICFAI, Tripura.
It was for the course CPA. Certified Professional Accountant. I am not sure what 'P' was. :(
Just the day before yesterday, the ad was of CFA. Does that ring a bell of good news for us ? Or this CPA is another course than CFA ? I know the verdict will be out on 25th.
P.S. I have finally registered for the exam. Let's hunt it down :gunsmilie:
I have qualified as Chartered Accountant in May'08. Since my articleship for 7 months is pending, I cannot go for a job right now. So I thought of giving Level I in December.
I want to know:
Whether a CFA international degree would be of any value addtion to my CA?
Buddy ... CPA is Certified Public Accountant which ICFAI has started on lines of CPA courses available in US & UK & other developed markets ...
CPA is based on Accountancy & auditing related fields similar to CA in india ..
Regarding CPA, Another thing can be added to lines of Amit Boss is that :
Good News: CPA can be completed in 1 year that too by your own choice when u prepared , u can give the exams and clear it. but there is one things here which u may call bad it has some "Credit Systems" meaning we need to get SHOW some credits of somthing im not aware of.
the main info i can share is that its not for engineers Normally Indian CA aspires to do CPA(US) and get into Auditing,Maintaing Acconuts n stuff..
CPA u can say is relatively easy than CFA but dude CFA has its own Width and own area of gains.
Between wish to know few things: 1). Can some1 enlighten upon the work area a MBA can do and where he may lack in while working in finace field , especially for engineers.See i feel an MBA can give look and feel of Finance and CFA can make fill the gap of Financial Knowlege and Manging Finance . 2)..There are few more queries but i would ask them again.I hope people can give some torch on it ;)..

Hey, CPA is much into accountancy. And the CPA Certificate ICFAI is offering also has an accelerated course for CA's and MBA's. That is it for them the duration is just 12months and the normal duration for the course is 24months. Rest log on ">http://www.iutripura.edu.in/cpaprogram/
I want to know a couple of things regarding CFA exam:
Is there any negative marking for wrong answer? I suppose exam consists of two sessions of 3 hrs.(morning & afternoon) 120 questions each. Is it correct?
I know a shop in Delhi where you could get CFA level 1 full notes(photocopied 5 books + 1 test book) for apprx 1700Rs. If u need and the administrator allows I can provide the name and No of the shop,

Yes thats true , Level 1 has that pattern. Level 2 is again a set of 3 hour papers, but with 60 questions each.
Well, today Level 2 results were out and I am Through....... Level 3 here I come. Guys following this thread, feel free to contact in case of queries.
It's been some time I have been studying. And, I have found Schweser is not explained in details. You can understand subjects like Economics & introduction of FSA but then for subjects like Securities Market you need some other source. Schweser is literally notes. Well, of course that was for non-finance (& *dumb ) guys like me.
Just yesterday I got CFAI's study material. It's huge. :eyepop: Almost 3000 pages. Would they give me Nobel, in case if I read that all ?
Well, I guess I should go for CFAs material for Securities Market. The basic terms & concepts are not explained in Schweser. :(
Also, if you people need some quick & easy explanation of some topic go to the link below. I have not gone through much of it. But it's helpful sometime.
