1.Can we the CFA level 1 during the 3rd yr of B.Com...i.e final yr of graduation??
2.Is there any criteria like 4 yrs studyin exp or job exp...anything for applying for CFA level 2?

This doubt will be cleared once you read the above link.About Level 2, you have have to clear L-1. No such criteria of work ex. for L-2.

i m manish frm hyderabad. i made 3 attempts to clear CA inter unfortunately failed...
now i m looking take career in investment banking and advisory fields....
hence i m looking to pursur CFA either from US or icfai pls suggest what to do
interested in taking CFA aimr US but coz of no classes ,guidance, study material....
unable to dare to take CFA usa ....
i just wnt to know is it possible for me to clear CFA level 1.. i m b.com graduate
appeared for ca inter but lost in only 1 sub 5 marks
if u know any coaching centres in hyderabad pls suggest
i know a website sen finance where lecture videos are available
pls suggest what do either CFA from US or ICFAI flexible prog
and if CFA US shall i take exams in dec 2008 or jun 2009

Will appear for CAT in November 2008 and for CFA level II in June 2008.

I had done a months research on cfa, n accompanying issues. I can understand that its hard to find the right person with all the knowledge but i've made an effort to shed light on every issue related to cfa. I'm giving level 1 attempt from dubai or nepal (final anwer comes on 26th august). Well let me anwer in points only.
1. U must have a min. work ex of 4yrs in finance to be eligible to get charter at the end of level 3. HR work ex is not valid. So i suggest u shift to finance as soon as u can. This way u'l learn about the practicalities involved in fin, and ur knowledge of finance will expand. It'll complement ur studying.
Also if it is possible to get the entire work ex shifted as finance it will help u immensely, if tht possible it will ease up the process of getting charter a lot. Try if its possible, most of the ppl arrange for such work ex using their contacts in HR, which i hope will be feasible in ur environment.
2. It costs slightly above Rs. 47000. Precisely $1078, and the conversion will be depending on current exchange rate. This is for level 1 only, for level 2 the cost is halved. Also the later u register the higher fees u will have to give. Till august 15 the price is $1078 and it will increase thereafter.
Can u tell me about the the schweser notes, even m looking for them, plz give me the details.
3. Cfa is in a dispute with icfai, the issue has been resolved with the final hearing of the court on 25th august. It has been approved to hold tests in india, only the decree is left to be pronounced. Still cfai is advising for choosing a centre abroad. If i get a well paying job i'l travel to dubai myself or else i'l travel to kathmandu to write this exam.

Thank you very much for solving my problem.....
Being a techie shifting to financial sector is not easy for me..........I will be working for software development for financial sector..........if you say that it is possible for a techie to work in finance( i dont have any financial background) i will look into this matter...

Hi Bro, regarding centre, I think people who took level I in June, took exams in Mumbai...pl correct me if i am wrong ...if some one surely knows if we can take Mumbai as centre, please confirm here! ...
regarding Schweser notes, we in Mumbai take it from Vile Parle among many other shops...they are basically photocopies of original books and cost 1200 Rs...mebbe u will get same in Delhi too...

I have downloaded the videos. I saw Economics' videos. I did not find them so much helpful. The presentation is not good. No prior introduction of the subject in the beginning. It was like, he was expecting to walk me at the birth. :shocked:
For engineers I am sure it won't be of a any use. Even for finance guys, I don't think it will be of much use. Prefer Schweser videos. I have heard they are good. I am trying to get my hands on them.
No. Your technical exp. will not be sufficient. And, it won't even be counted for CFA. Don't worry for work experience so much. Even clearing L-2 & L-3 means a lot & you can get a good job on that.
Ye, many engineers are doing CFA. (I am one of them
) I have gone through some of the material. You really need to put a lot effort into it.You may not understand a lot of notes. So you have to google those terms. Hurry, the fees are going to increase after 15th August. (In case you are preparing for L-1 Dec'0
Ya the senfinance vides are not that good..... But explanation for few of the concepts is good.......... Basically, I find books are more than sufficient for L1...... So dont run behind the videos.....
