Need some Opinions on CFA

I have been reading this thread for quite sometime now but I am more confused than what I was when i started. I had decided to do CFA through ICFAI but now I come to know that there are other popular institutes abroad like AIMR to quote one. Please guide me in choosing the rite institute. Moreover I have also read about ICFAI having a pending case about the validity of its degree, Could someone brief me as to what may be the implications of this hearing and when would it be over. ??

I don't know how much you have read on the thread, but when I started reading about it, I did now know about CFAI or ICFAI's CFA. But after going through thread I am pretty clear about it.

Please do read at least 40 pages of the thread to know about it. Knowing from people who have researched on it would be better, still would tell you a little about it.

CFAI is an international institute which offers CFA degree since almost 60 or so years. There degree is highly recognised & valuable considering international career. ICFAI started it's own version of CFA afterwords. ICFAI's degree is not recognised internationally. So it's upto you, chose according to your career goals.

As far as the case in the court is concerned, I read somewhere the result will be announced shortly. Don't rememeber it now. Just wait till it's announced.

correction.....there's just one institute which offers the CFA charter globally and i.e the CFA institute (formerly AIMR),U.S
apart frm dat icfai awards d cfa charter through tripura university but it cannot be used outside india

I am pursuing my MBA in finance in Mumbai, i am planning to go to the UK next May, i would like to know if one can get a job in the UK based on an Indian Mba degree and whether having cleared a CFA level 1 make it any easier.

Hey,

I think if you can clear the interview then of course you will get a job. I guess you are doing MMS from Mumbai Uni. Its will recognized. So dont worry.

And yeah CFA L1 will add value to your CV. So if you can clear it then it will be better. In fact if you want to get in equity then its mandatory to have CFA L1 in most part of the world

I had finished my graduation and was interested in the profile of a Financial Analyst. I was thinking whether to do an MBA or a CA or CFA. But After graduation worked one year worked for a BANK and Two years in BPO sector(along with preparation of CAT), Currently I am doing my regular MBA apart from pursuing CFA, Just because of the knowledge which I gained from the preparation of CFA, I was able to get through Internship program at one of the largest financial Service Providing company across the world "PwC- PricewaterhouseCoopers": I got lot of learning opportunity and I am sure it really help those who are planning for MBA and wants to specialize in the domain of Finance. I am sure this additional qualification will help me in getting a good placement while competing with my colleagues.

Im preparing for L1 in Dec and i have last yrs Schweser notes. I went through the E-books from June L1 2008 and could not find much changes in the curriculum.

Could anyone guide me if the last yrs notes would be adequate or do i need to get the new Schweser notes this yr again.

CFA Charter has strong recognition across, you might find good information as who hires CFA Charter holders Who Hires CFA Charterholders?

Hey, there is a lot of difference from what I have heard. I saw some where the changes made. Can't remember. Some LOS are replaced & some have been added.

Better go with 2008's material.

Hey, please use punctuation marks in your post yaar. Punctuation marks are there for some reason. Without them it's hard to understand anything.

From your post, I guess you want solutions for Schweser test papers. Book 6 has test papers & solutions also.

I dont think so. Book 6 only has keys (answers) but no solution explanation. They are available only to people who have access to online Schweser resources.

Oh Sorry ! I mis-read it. Yes Book 6 has only answers. For solutions they have another file on net.

Please stop posting the same thing again & again. You last 4-5 posts are saying the same thing. If you want to ask to some one personally PM them. Quoting everyone & asking same thing is just increasing the length of the thread.

I passed CFA level I yesterday .

Will appear for CAT in November 2008 and for CFA level II in June 2008.

I have detail solution of schweser practice exam vol 1 and 2.
