I think you can have a feeling of what is the content in two volumes in such a shot time . But thourough reading of 2 volumes in 10 days is tough . however it depends on person to person.
I start off with a book, do half of it, and then get bored qand start of with the next.. Donno whats happening.. anyways, good news is that now I have 1 Month without any office for studying.. I hope I'll wrap up the course by 20th may..
Will I be able to complete the 2 volumes of questions (Scheweser - not sure bout spelling) in 10 days?

1 volume has 3 tests(forenoon and afternoon) so you will need 6 days to take tests and 4 days to review them, that shouldn't be a problem i think. provided you have covered the syllabus by then. but do take them like an exam.
As you mentioned you are from Commerce background , you might not need coaching classes for Level 1 given you have interest in finance and good grasping...
Any ways i would give you the address of Becker classes

I'm havin some serious questions..Please help me .. My profile-IT(Cognizant) with almost 3 years work ex Age 24 Have made 2 unsuccessful attempts at CAT.I wish to pursue some major financial course like CFA this year.I will definitely be pursuing MBA next year. My dream is to work as a business consultant/Analyst in firms like BCG,Mckinsey.I don't wish to have a career as a fund manager or likewise job. Will CFA be suitable for me.I desperately wish to pursue some good course in Finance/Business so that i have a good knowledge abt the Subject while pursuing MBA.Also, in the worst case if am not able to pursue MBA,i should be capable of shifting from IT to Business domain.. Can one pursue CFA if one dreams of becoming a Business consultant after MBA. I know that Business consultant sounds vague. What i mean is that I do not wish to be in a job which requires monitoring of shares and stocks only..Hope am clear.. Plz reply guys..
Was busy with my MBA interviews and results, hence not very active on this thread. Now that its all behind me,time has come to really slog for the rest of these days. My Level 2 prep is negligible and chances of me passing are low. I stilll have to cover fixed income, derivatives, portfolio management. economics and ethics. Damn Loads to do. very less time.
Level 2 puys, how is the preparation coming up. someone had asked for the link to the cfa videos.
Please go thru an earlier post http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career-discussions/12326-need-some-opinions-on-cfa-134.html#post1002125

hi I am an IT engineer a completely techie guy.. I am looking to switch to financial domain. I have been exploring CFA as an opportunity. I have no background of finance. I have a few questions on that. 1) How much time will be required from my side to prepare for an CFA dec 2008 levvel 1.
2) I dont intend to take on level 2 and 3 in a hurry. I am first looking to shift to financial domain in IT. how much will CFA level 1 help me in doing so..Maybe over a period of time i would complete level 2 and 3.
3) Is self study enough for a newbie like me or some classes or online tools would be required.
4) Last but not the least if at all i dont clear level 1 in first attempt would it still help me in getting to financial domain because I am not sure how much time would I be able to devote with my current work load..

Given that you are an engineer and might have studied mathematics, probably you will need 4 hrs / week or less.

CFA L1 wont help you anyway to get a job in Finance sector, L2 + MBA could give you advantage over others aspiring for same position

I believe self-study is sufficient for all levels.
4) Last but not the least if at all i dont clear level 1 in first attempt would it still help me in getting to financial domain because I am not sure how much time would I be able to devote with my current work load..
Thanks all for any replies...
No, L1-L2 alone will not be of any help, if you are very anxious to work in finance sector, you might think of doing a MBA (Finance).
Till last year the practice exam solutions with explanations were given behind the book. Starting this year, the solutions are available but explanations are not available. They say the explanations are available online - however, it shall require you buying the questions and exams pack online and thence give you access to explanations.
Was just wondering what are other puys doing about this - do you have access to online material / soft copy / hard copy of explanations...
