just recd CFA books from institute..... huge books man... has anyone tried stdying from these earlier?? have relied on Schweser for L1 and cleared the exam comfortably... dunno what to do? any suggestions??

hey man same dilemma for me too. cleared level 1 easily using schweser last year.
i am planning to study from schweser and will refer the institute books when i find things difficult to understand from schweser.

if you read thru some of the previous posts on this thread you will come to know about the scope for an engineer per se.
In case you are serious about a finance career, go for this course. Considering the costs involved and the difficulty, think about it.

Well you cud start off with quants and eco first.
Then finish off accounting portion. REad the basics of cash flows and balance sheets well before racing to the subsequent chapters in acounting.
After that u cud finish off with asset valuation of equity , derivatives and fixed-income investments.
Then do corporate finance and portfolio management. by doing corp fin and port. management now, your quant will get revised as well.
you can save the ethics portion for the last as u will have to mug them up.

that's a good idea.... havent seen the books yet... v can stdy more difficult subjects in detail from insti books (read Derivatives)... lets discuss as and when we stdy...

i suggest you to go through this topic from start . It would benefit you more rather than expecting someone to answer in few lines.

I got it from this guy ---Vishal 9899448948.I got the professional one in 3900 approx.
He delivered it to my place,the same day.
Or you can send a DD to the TI bangalore,they courier it to you free of cost --as they were telling me.

So got to see whether to take the risk of booking the exam
late and payin up more , writing in india or booking now and
if the exam gets conducted in india goin abroad and spendin
hefty amounts......:eh:

if its true, I believe CFA Institute should give us option of changing the center and writing the test in India...
when do the results for december exam come out ???
what i need to know is that after clearing level 1 , would there be still time to register for cfa-2 by the second deadline in feb ;
The 2007 Dec L1 result was out on 23 rd Jan. Assume it to be the same next year, thereby giving you enough time to register before the Feb 15 deadline.
