hey Y'All,
I tried to register on the CFA website and was told that the institute does not accept registrations from students inside India due to the legal struggle with the desi CFA.
I have no issues with giving the exam out of India but somehow it still doesn't allow me to register.
Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on registering for the exam or do we all just twiddle our thumbs till the lawyers sort this one out?

CFA Institute in India
I am sure many of you have already registered for the exam. It would be helpful to others like me who are yet to register if you could share some info on -
1) Did u receive the material on registration?
2) Where do you plan to appear for the exam? What is the cost you are incurring and name of the airline you are planning to travel by?
I just checked the fares to Singapore - the airfare per person is ~Rs.9000/-return trip. Accommodation is around 128 Singaporean Dollar per day. Let me know if you know any better deal to Singapore or to any other country.
Thanks,
Paresh
Thank God we can register for CFA now. I would now register for L1 in June, even though it means travelling abroad and giving the exam. If things go really well and Indian centers are later allowed, we can change our test center to India (before March 17 2008 ). Experienced Puys, correct me if I am wrong here.
Anybody from Hyderabad taking CFA Level I in June 2008? We can discuss and plan for the exam and for the travel together. I stay in Hyderabad and right now I think Colombo is the best option.
BTW, does anyone know where to get the Schweser L1 2008 notes at Hyderabad? Also, I would like to know if the CFA study material that we get along with the registration is sufficient or not?
Regards,
RKA
Not a single response :(. I wonder if there is anyone from Hyderabad appearing for Level I June 2008.
Anyway, as the deadline Feb 15th is approaching fast, I have finally registered for the exam with COLOMBO as the test center. This seems the best option as there are no direct flights to singapore or katmandu from Hyderabad. Also, colombo seems to be the cheapest (around 23K for onward and return flights) with just 2hrs of journey. Anway, if need be, I can put a test center change request before March 17th. That should take care of any contingency.
Let me see how long it takes for the curriculum to arrive.
Once again, anybody from hyderabad going for it, let me know.
Regards,
RKA

I am in the final semester of B.Tech from IIT Delhi.I have scored 99.70 in CAT2007 and have calls frm I & K.I would be taking CAT2008.I was thinking of taking CFA in dec 2008.But I wanted to know how useful the CFA charter would be for me considering that i may enter A/B/C next yr.Are the investment banking jobs one gets after a CFA similar to what one does after IIM A/B/C?And what is the procedure for payment of fees?
It seems lot of MBA ppl are also writing CFA........ But the curriculum of CFA (at least of level 1) looks very much similar to that of MBA (Finance), isnt it ????? Or did I misinterpret the curriculum ???
So is it worth for a MBA(Finance) person to write CFA????? In other words I just want to ask is what added advantage a MBA(Finance) guy will get by writing CFA ????
TIA
ohhh Rajat, thanks for your quick reply !!!!!!
But i think i still have doubt from different point of view !!!! i dont know why but I found this article focusing more on MBA Vs CFA and what i want to know is advantage of writing CFA for MBA(finance) guy as i am learning almost the same !!!!! and one more thing can you throw some light from India perspective as i found this article focusing more on international exposure where people generally do MBA at around 29-30.........
TIA

I need an advice from those who have cleared CFA level 1.Would it be a good idea to register for the JUne 2008 exam and start preparing now onwards.WOuld 4 mnths suffice?
Hi everybody,
I am planning to give june 2008 Level 1 exams.
Can anybody tell me where to get the shweser notes in chennai?
Thanx
Am writing the CFA L2 in Kathmandu this june .
Does anyone know of any place where i can get schweser xerox notes in bangalore ????
I have registered for June 2008 L1 and am wondering if we really need Schweser notes as we get the complete curriculum this time. I have 2007 schweser notes already with me. I feel that notes along with 2008 curriculum will suffice.
Can somebody who cleared L1 throw some light on this?
