Hey man
how long does it take for the shipment to come to india
It depends on which city u reside...
Mumbai it takes around 4-5 working days..
And other cities it may take more..
Hi
As u have cleared L1, Can you tell me, is Schweser material enough for preparation of L1 or I will need to go through CFA course material also.
Also can you tell me the exact nature of Exam i mean is it objective one or it contains comprehensive qs also.
TIA
Well it depends ont he level of detail you want to go into.
schweser notes only have those topics that are required for the test. they are better if u just want to pass the test, but i wud suggest that go thru the cfa notes also along with it.
last year they were not giving out books , so i studied only from shweser, and found the test to be a piece of cake.
the exam is totally objective.
I hope that clears your queries.
questions are invited.
cheers

Hi man,
Maybe its an exception, but i registered on 6th Feb and i had the material with me on 11th Feb(Delhi).
It was real quick.
If I had time, then the material is really worth devouring.Everything is explained in a very detailed way.
But i think now it will be Schweser for me and the CFAI material for the tricky topics.
Earlier i was skeptical for the extra cost for this material, but now i think this will always act as a ready reference.(Even after L1).
hey guys,
m taking L2 in June 2008. Havent registered yet. planning to register today. Havent made up my mind where to go
was considering 3 options
1) Singapore (have a cousin there, so no food and accomodation costs)
2) Bangkok
3) Hong Kong (have a friend, no accomodation costs)
What is the best solution in terms of costs and otherwise too? I have heard CFA Institute has quotas of every place and will only clear selected candidates. Which is the best place to go then??
Please Advise
Jaimin
this is totally different question!!!!!!!
what are the payment options ?? Is ECS or Debit card or payment through multiple Credit cards allowed ????
Please respond asap as tomorrow is last date !!!!!!!:o
TIA

Undoubtedly, Singapore will be the best option.
Under some promotion scheme, Tigerairways is selling out tickets of BANGLORE-SING-BANGLORE at quite cheap rates.. I have booked at only 9+ K, And people have even booked at below 8K. And as you have ur accomodation arangements there, so no tension at all.....
Lots of people are choosing SINGP just because they are getting quite cheap air-tickets for there.

Good Evening to all aspirants of CFA
i wanted to know that there seems to be huge flux of people in india going for CFA !! I think the chances and % of cfa exams will reduce drastically now from current 40% for each level to around 10% with applicants increasing many a fold :-|
what do u guys feel? is everybody here doing cfa coz they have genuine interest in the curriculm or just becoz everybody else is doing it ????
any guesses on cfa l1 no of aspirants in dec 08? i think it will be around 20k:o
Hey man
its still 4 months to the exam.
I wud sugegst that focus ur efforts and attention on the prep rather than speculating what wud be the pass percentage as such.
To help u out, i wud just say that , if u can get around 100 out of the 120 questions in the paper, you are thru, no matter how many candidates appear.
Hope that gives a better perspective
all the best
Akshat

Can u clarify if 9K is for both the legs of the journey or just for one way. So, is it total 9K or 18K ? I have applied with COLOMBO as the center, but the fare turns out to be around 23K (including return ticket). If 9K includes return journey as well, I would consider changing my center to Singapore.
Also, can u tell me if we need to take a visa to singapore or sri lanka?

Initially it was 7.5 K for both to+fro journey from banglore (i.e. BANG - SINGP - BANG )
I booked it at 9K.... But, yes as of today, the price has crossed the mark of 11K
From any other location, the to+fro ticket of SINGP, or other near by centres (other than Nepal, Sri Lanka) will cost atleast in the range of 18- 22 K. For ex, from MUMBAI an AI flight is priced at some 21+ K for to+fro journey.
@ VISA: Yes visa wil be required.... but heard that can be obtained very easily, and the fees is around 20 USD -- so quite cheap.... before around 1/2 months of the journey, it can be obtained. But then Visa will be required for any other centre as well (except for nepal)....
@ dont ignore the volatile political and domestic environment existing in Nepal and Sri Lanka... So, better choose some safer option (like Singp.) specifically when it is not costing that high..
BTW, for this JUNE sitting of exam a lots of people have booked that particular Tigerairways flight with the below given journey dates:
BANG- SINGP : Night of 6th June from Bang
SINGP- BANG : Night of 11th June from Singp
prefer the above dates- if you want to 😃
thanks dude!!!

No, dear....
As far as I have explored, it would even be much cheaper option if we catch the flight by Banglore, and book and additional ticket of Mumbai - Banglore - Mumbai (currently priced @ 5K).. so our total journy cost will come up as 15 K- still quite economic.
From Mumbai, the cheapest flight for Sing (to+fro) is priced at some 21-22 K (AI)
