Guys,

Having now cleared CFA L1, I am in a dilemma - whether to go for CFA L2 or GMAT next.:-? I opted for CFA due to two main reasons - profile diversification and out of personal interest. However, ambition was always to pursue an MBA. Does CFA L2 help the MBA cause in any significant way? Or from a career perspective it really doesn't matter whether CFA levels are completed after MBA?

I would highly appreciate any insights into this which would help me choose the correct career path.

Hi folks,

I have cleared my L1 (wrote in Dec 2007) and now plan to take L2 this June. All those who have cleared their L2, can you please tell me if this is realistic or am i being too optimistic...
Also, suggest me a realistic study plan and precautions which need to be kept in mind when i start my L2 prep...

arey me wanana give june 2008 LI exam.
me from commerce so are 3 months prep enuff for L1 ? me from delhi so wll nepal be best place to give the exam ?????

being frm a commerce backgrnd. would certainly help u in ur L1 prep
abt. d prep. material; dere are mainly two institutes viz. schweiser and stalla whose notes u can buy....u can buy d photostat copy of schweiser notes(would cost u arnd 1500 bucks) but they most probably wont be d latest ones prescribed for june08 xams
since u r frm delhi , the other option would be to join d coaching institute in hauz khas which would provide u wid d original stalla notes..the total fee would be smwhere arnd 1000$ though !! dere's another coaching institute called as ace3levels which conducts d classes in CP.....so u might jst consider dat as well

I was going through CFA website which says that from now on we get
course notes along with registration (990$) for L-1. Do we still need to buy Schweser
notes or CFA notes wd be enuf>??
Also how much time is ok for an engineer toprepare for L-1

The Quant topics that you have mentioned are the basic building blocks and dont change so often.Leave Ethics for the last.(Just skim it ,if you want to get a hang of it)
And if you are preparing for '08 L1,rather than wasting time,start with Schweser 07(avaialable on net) -the quant topics that you have mentioned --(practicing with the calci --ofcourse).
Meanwhile you can also go for Schweser '08 Material from Laxmi, ASAP.
Hope it helps.

There was a recent notification on CFA Institute (India page) that they have decided to allow Indians to register for the test and take the exam in a country outside India.

hi ,
i am an engg working in bangalore.
i am interested in finance and CFA sounds like a good option. I have a few questions:-

1)i am thinking of doing in MS financial engg(fall 2009). I hope CFA level -1 improves my profile.NE suggestions ?

2) i am in bangalore and i need the xerox notes...is there any way to get that here ?

3) is there a study group in bangalore ?

4) does the CFA provide materials along with the registration ?the cost is around $1000/-:sleepy::sleepy:
