Its dissapointing to say the least. I had quit my job and have been slogging only for June 3rd and wanted to clear this very badly. I hope somehow someway the exam happens on JUne 3rd.
I would advise everyone to wait for atleast the next 48 hrs, if we get an update/confirmation abt the exams from CFA institute. Heard that some top guys (Fund Mgrs at big MFs, senior people at financial institutions who are charterholders) are willing to lend support for our cause. They say things could work out. May be CFA institute would apply to the court and file a stay order and buy some more time to let us write the June 3rd due to less notice period to students. So, lets stay positive and continue the preps.
Worst case scenario, if they confirm that India is not on, may be time for some Nepal or Lanka bhraman. But till further notice, lets continue our preps.
Ok I called up the reporter and they just shot an interview at my office...
The reporter tells me the CFA ppl are going to file for a stay order with the Delhi High Court.
She also tells me something which I long suspected.
She told me that she came to know about this when the ICFAI P.R called her in the morning,the ICFAI P.R machine is going all out to use this announcement to their benefit making us the sufferers in the process.
She also said that a stay order is unlikely as it will be contested by ICFAI and they are quite influential :(

'cos thats the only way things get noticed in India. those ICFAI SOBs....
though i'm preparing for the Dec 2007 Lev 1 exams but i'm deeply hurt and shocked by the selfish attitude of the ICFAI ppl who are hell-bent on spoiling our future.
We as the citizens of this free country have the freedom of Choice and the Right to decide what we want to do in Life.
But the CFAI ppl are also to blame equally. where were they all this while. and now they are making a mockery of everything...like go to another country and take the exam ??!!!!! ask them to pay us the cost of travel and living outside India. with barely 10 days to go they are coming up with all sorts of wierd suggestions. It really shows their immaturity and inablity as a responsible institution.
yeah we shud actively take up this matter with the media and ensure that it comes in the limelight.

i checked some sites
the return airfare for colombo from mumbai is 18000 rupees
also , frm pune to kathmandu is 17000.

Saw the news-item on India Business Hour on CNBC today abt the CFA issue. Good that Rajat and others' efforts has given it media coverage. The news said that CFA institute will take steps to challenge the order and try let the students write the exam on june 3rd.
Lets hope they manage to do it.

I was planning to give my CFA level 1 in december 2007 . I have not yet paid the fees though. But, was really shocked on reading in the Economic Times today of the cancellation of the June 3 exams.
Now What does the future hold for CFA in India? I know they are planning litigations and all, but what will be the outcome of all this?
AICTE's action is shocking..
I am not able to understand...
1. There are hundred's private courses (tech/non tech)..AICTE has not done anything about them?
2. ETC/GMAC -- Do they have approval from AICTE?
3. Does CFA really need approval from AICTE to conduct its test?

No just a questionnaire to gauge initial interest.
The chances of exam being deferred by a few days are nil... i got a mail saying in case the exams couldnot be held in India, then those who would not like to take it outside India would be contacted by CFAI in mid-June and they will be refunded the fees completely.

PEOPLE ! i have been trying to study SINCE yday...but to no effect ! just cant get myslf to read nething related to LEVEL 2...not even ethics ! dis is very unnerving...further i cant go out of the country, so i m FULLY dependent on Mumbai happening...have been gettng news and counter-news regarding the big question...nothign definite ! so now even if the xam happens...i lose cuz i hv lost the tempo...n if it doesnt happen...still moi a loser !
