Need some Opinions on CFA

@[241172:harry4u9]
ok thanks so much..

also tell me how to get all the materiel, and cfa exam details like syllabus and all.

and one more thing once i get into a job will i be able to continue cfa preparation...?

@[592008:dakshnjain] u can order Schwesser material from Laxmi Xerox & Om Xerox in mumbai search thru the thread u will find their numbers

for CFA institute material u will get it once u register for the course on cfainstitute.org

CFA preparations is quite demanding so pls think through for urself as it will require a lot of dedication & self discipline especially when u r in to a job.

Hope that helps!!!

@[280110:Mad-Head] As far as I know payment through credit card is the only way

Ah ha! a believer in cash.

Hi
I m currently working as an assistant professor in a management college teaching finance subjects. But now after 4 years i find the job not challenging enuff and lucrative also.
I want to shift to corporates. I am planning to give CFAL1 this december. Can you please tell will clearing CFA L2 get me the desired break into corporates or my teaching experience affect my chances??

puys how many dedicated hours study is required to clear cfa level 1??

if level one is cleared , will it add some value to cv ?

Is it worth joining an MBA institute, on of the non premier ones and then prepare for CFA simultaneously..??

@Mad-Head said:
Honestly speaking NO it'll not add any value to your CV as there are more than 20000 CFA takers from India every year plus by just having a CFA - L1 means nothing when you got people with MBA + CFA + FRM/CA + MBA + CFA/CA + MBA. Not to demotivate or discourage you but all I want to say is if you have some relevant work-ex on finance domain still a CFA - L1 will not work you got to have atleast L2 cleared but along with another professional degree like CA/MBA/FRM CFA looks good.
thanks ..

also i want to ask whether the syllabus and study material for the L1 changes every year or it remains the same . The situation is that i have just cmpletd my graduation and i will be doing cfa only post mba and work ex .. but i am thinking to start studying those L1 notes ryt away now .. so if i plan to give the Level 1 .. may be say , 2 years from now ... should i start preparing for it now onwards (u can say a kind of "pre preparation") or will the syllabus get changed by then (pls forgiv me for my ignorance as i am new to this CFA terminolology ) . I also want to say that i have already read the NCCFM module pdf which is available on the NSE website free .. and i hv pretty decent knowledge of these financial terms , related terminolgy .. etc . Also to add that i have always had a quite strong inclination towards FINANCE ryt from my 1st year in engg. So CFA is something .. for which i would like to dedicate myself whole heartedly .. but at the moment , since i have only heard about this thing (and have only some info regarding this ) .. so i want u all to enlighten me as to how shud i go on to start wid d prepararion if i plan to do it 2 years before giving the actual CFA L1 EXAM.

THANKS A LOT in advance 😃

ok thanks a lot 😃

was a sound piece of advice .. thanks again 😃 :)

Dear how much is the salary likely to be

Yesterday i was doing scheswer q bank and the no of questions were just immense. I feel just in FRA total questions will be around 400.
But sad thing is i had only 55% answers correct

Hi Seniors,

I am evaluating my profile for CFA/MBA/FPM.

My Profile:

10th : 76.8%
12th : 71.1%
BE (CSE) : 74.23%
Work Ex: (a)3.6 years with an Indian IT MNC.

Worked in Porfolio Management, Asset Managment and Capital Markets

domain for Fortune

top 10 client.Currently working as a Business Analyst for a

Business Intelligence Roadmap Strategy project relating to Risk

Mgmt in Capital Markets.

(b) Worked as a visiting Lecturer for 5 month in Engg college,

(during the wait for my joining for current job, as I had got

campus placement) .

Certificate for beginners in Financial Markets from NSE.

I attempted CFA L1 in June but couldn't clear, planning to appear in

Dec 12 but unsure as I would be appearing for CAT 2012.

June attempt made me realise that its just the coverage which matters. I lacked preperation on my part for CFA. Although I found it easy to crack if one covers up the syllabus religiously.

I aspire for CFA as it (financial concepts in depth) helps me at my day to day office work and it would add up to my profile for MBA or FPM courses which I want to take up.

Keeping in my mind long working hours in office, and very little time left to prepare for both CAT and Dec CFA L1, Shall I register for CFA or not??

Looking forward for your insights and guidance.

Regards,
Deepti

if level one is cleared , will it add some value to cv ? and does the Flip course also provide useful in addition to it ??
actually i am a fresher pursuing my pgdm, first year. what i heard from my seniors that with mba it is possible only to clear 1st level as because 2nd level requires extra coaching and that much time won't be available with pgdm. so just wanted to know the following:
1. that at the end of my 2 yrs of mba is it possible to clear more than 1 level??
2. does the Flip course provide any benefit with the first level of cfa ??

please someone reply

@Deepti

Cracking both CAT and CFA L1 will not be easy. See what is your priority. If its only CAT and not any other B-School exam then you can register for CAT at an early date write CFA as well. You will get 1.5 month time after CAT. But again saying all this easy.

If you are fairly done with CFA L1 now only then 1.5 moth will be enough.

And if you are writing all MBA exams along with CAT, its really very tough to do CFA as well as it requires diligent study.
