@abhi
The fee for enrollment & exam till 15th February 2012 for the June 2012 exam is $1125 (if you opt for ebook curriculum - not hardcopies). So the cost in INR will be
$1125x(the exchange rate of $ on the date you register) + transaction charges of your credit card.
Today at this time the rate of $ is Rs. 51.22 so it will be Rs. (1125x51.22+charges) i.e. between Rs. 59k to 60k. The way Rupee is going at the moment it is bound to increase further.

Hi, can anyone please throw some light on worth of cfa?
what kind of job profile will u get after clearing L3, about salary in india?
And also is MBA(finance) supplementry or complementry to CFA?
Please do reply!

Hi the mechanic,

You don't have to think or worry about the worth of CFA, in India or anywhere else. Though there are plenty of CFAs in India, but the demand, in the Investment Industry, will be greater than supply, I think. CFAs are very well respected in the Investment Industry. For the rest of the fields, it may not be mandatory or much value enhancing except knowledge addition. CFA makes you a super analyst 😃 So, in sum, CFA has a lot of value.

CFA doesn't restrict you to a single profile. It totally depends on you. You can opt for Equity Research Analyst, Credit Research Analyst, Treasury Manager, Investment Banking, Portfolio Manager (in the long run), Head - Equity Markets(in the long run) & so on and so forth. I'd suggest you to check out this link for various roles that CFAs pursue. I can't comment anything on the remuneration part, though, as I possess inadequate information for that part.

MBA(finance) would be added advantage along with CFA (or vice versa!) It all depends on your interest and your career goal. I recall someone mentioning "MBA(finance) is foot deep and mile wide, CFA is mile deep and foot wide". After MBA you can choose any role in Finance. Just to add, CFA is known (mostly) as a career enhancer, MBA is known as career changer. Which means that clearing CFA L3 doesn't, necessarily, mean that you'll find a job wherever you want. Whereas top tier MBA helps, pretty much, doing so.

You'll find much better answers & clear path by doing some introspection. If you are sure you want to go far ahead in the Investment Industry, then CFA is "the" thing for you. MBA, only if you want to go for it. Apart from this, you might want to consider getting some work ex while you are preparing for CFA.

Keep exploring 😃

Hey! I wanted well as the thread says, certain opinions from people about the CFA degree, I am currently in my final semester of BMS and I am also attempting the CET and the NMAT this year, I have a strong affinity for finance, economics and accounting. I know that the CFA course offers me all of this, but what I needed to know was that if I choose the Indian CFA, does that affect my future prospects of getting a job as and when compared to the american CFA ( please bear in mind that I want to work within India, but do not mind going out of the country for giving the tests ) also what value does the BMS degree, a CFA( whether american or indian ) hold in the market today, mainly looking for investment banking, equities specifically, etc.

I know its a long read, but I'd really appreciate the help guys!

The Fees will be around RS 50,000, including registration and exam fee for 1st Level. visit cfainstitute.com for more info.

@ satya
You said,"The Fees will be around RS 50,000, including registration and exam fee..."
Please note (as said above in my earlier post) "the cost in INR will be $1125x(the exchange rate of $ on the date you register) + transaction charges of your credit card."
Taking this Saturdays $ rate @ 52.24 (minimum) it will be Rs. (1125x52.24+charges), so it can not be less than Rs 58770 +transaction charges i.e it will be above Rs. 60,000 (unless transaction fee is zero!).
Please note correct info before starting registration payment process is essential as to whether it is below 50k or above 50k because in many cases the upper limit of foreign exchange transaction of individual's credit card is 50,000 only. Hence , info on correct amount is crucial for most people.

i am not the right person to provide any suggestion on this but i have heard that it is somewhat like CFA only and some even say that it is the European CFA. it has a lot of value bt within the European territory.

For getting info regarding the share market, you can try NCFM certifications..it will give all knowledge of share market and many companies require people to get certified in this, for job..and also you can try CFA (USA)..
