MY QUERIES
1.) how much does CFA exam cost. i mean registration and each level costs?
2.) what is the difficulty level of each level? (for eg. u can compare viz like clearing CFAlevel1 is equivalent to getting 90percentile in cat)

3.) if i clear level1 then for how much time it remains valid? any time limit within which i have to sit for cfa level2?
4.) how should i start prepartion of CAlevel 1 exam. i have not registred for june 2011. so will be iaming at dec2011 or june 2012.
5.) from where i can buy suitable notes in north region?

1). $900, if you register in June, increases to 1000$ if you register in September.
2).Very difficult. You need 300 hours of dedicated study for Level 1. You may need to study more if from a non-finance background. Passing rate is only 50%.
3).It is valid for a lifetime. You can appear for Level 2 whenever you have the time.
4).You should go for June 2012 as there is not much preparation time for Dec 2011.
5).Well there are coaching centres in Delhi (Kaplan Schweser). Waise the material sent by CFA Institute is more than sufficient.

i m planning to appear in Dec, 2011 Level - 1 ...
can anyone plz send me some material plz....
reply me plz...
TIA!!!!

There is only one paper for CFA level 1 which will held in two shifts i.e. morning session and afternoon session, where each session is of 3 hrs...so total duration of xam is 6 hrs..

Hi i am from a non finance background.Am a software engineer and am going to join a reputed MBA institute this june.I wanted to pursue a career in finance and in particular I banking.I want to appear for the CFA level 1 in june 2012 by the time i am done with my first year.

Do you think that my first year studies in an MBA curriculum will help me in my preparation for CFA level 1?
and, if i clear the level 1 will it help me in my final placements ?

Somewhat...CFA is in extension of your normal coursework...You will have to work twice, if not more, hard...

and, if i clear the level 1 will it help me in my final placements ?

Big Time...

Hello all,

I'm a B.Com (H) and currently working full-time with a MNC bank at a junior managerial position. I have overall experience of over 6 years various back office BPO/KPO relates roles (Fund Administration, Fund Reconciliations, etc). My job requires me to spend around 10-13 hours in office around 5 days a week.

I have in the past 6 years come across a lot of opportunities where I was told that I was ineligible because I'm not a post graduate or do not have any professional qualifications. I want to take my career forward from here and after doing my research I have come to a conclusion that a CFA or ACCA could better my chances at securing a middle office position in a finance firm in India & abroad.

I have been planning to prepare myself for higher studies however my current job role would not allow me to study over the weekdays. On weekdays I'm leave home at around 9am and return around 11pm. Finally I've decided to pursue further education.

Therefore I'm planning to sit for the CFA Level 1 exam this December. I also want to quit my job and enroll with a good coaching center. This way I will have enough time to prepare as I have been out of studies for about 6 years now.

Now I have a few concerns regarding this.

Q1> If quit my job now to pursue the CFA course for the next 1.5-2 years will it affect my career adversely due to discontinuity?

Q2> What are the real chances of me securing a much better job after completing this course than what I'm already doing?

Q3> As I would be out of job for about 1.5-2 years would I have to start my career from scratch again or how easy/difficult would it be to secure that dream job post completion of the CFA course?

My thanks and regards to all those who can share their advice/feedback/suggestions.

Quiting your present job for preparation is a big No. Discontiniuties have to be always explained...in the present scenario many ppl are preparing for CFA while working/studying(MBA etc.)...so they would have an advantage if you have a gap..

Hi, you wont get enough time after your MBA studies..this course is full of prep. and hard work..
you need to give dedicated time for that... i hope you will understand by the percentage of people passing this exam(less than 5% in India)

Where did you get this number from (is it supposed to be 50%, 35%? etc) ? Pretty sure it is wrong.

Hi guys,
I am a commerce graduate.I am serving with SBI past 2 years.I need to pursue a
course in finance which would enhance my career prospects.I gave CAT,NMAT this year but crashed
,got a whole year wasted,I want to enhance my profile by completing a course which
will also help me to stand with Ivy league B-School pass-outs.I request you guys to suggest
me a course which would fulfill my requirements. While writing this I have also one thing in my mind that although am not that good at quant/maths part
but still I desire to make my career in the field of finance.

Facts are supposed to be backed up by verifiable evidence not ancedotal evidence or speculation.

So, if you have the number please do show it to us or stop passing ridiculous claims as facts.
