dude i'm not able to access the link
can you pls pm me the content.........TIA

Well I got a touching PM, part of which "i respect ur views abt finance...but what if one has certain responsibilities to fulfill then definitely he will talk abt job....."

I thought I might post it here as well.

Guys, when you're willing to struggle with a solid backup plan; just remember struggle isn't really struggle when it's about the passion of your life.

I'll emphasize again about the importance of networking. There are several positions for investment research which are never advertised... just filled through references. Reference/recommendation is one of the most important thing in this career. These include positions at all stages of career.

And the person who wrote the above quoted bold text, didnt write in mere enthusiasm, if you are on linkedin can check his profile for his achievements.

go for the CFA by CFA institute dude...preferred by many in the industry..ICFA CFA doesnt even come close...

Talking about CFA from the CFA Institute, what scope does it have in India? Is it easy to get jobs in India after completing CFA level 2?

Also, they say that there is uncertainity of the exams being conducted in India....a person like me, who wishes to pursue cfa and doesn't want to go abroad to give the exams should take such a risk?

What is it's value? I mean, it's globally recognized and stuff but I am curious to know the job scenario after clearing all the three cfa exams.

Hello Guys..
I am planning to go for CFA Level 1 in Decemeber 2010.And i will certainly register by June last week.
But as i have completed my BBA in 2009 and i am a dropper i do not want to waste any more time just for studying. So kindly tell me what kind of jobs shall i look for which would help me in getting experience.
I am ready to work in Delhi and Mumbai. I know as i am a fresher i will not get good opening but as a start what shall i do.

CFA is recognised in India as well...infact the more levels you clear the better your prospects of getting a job in a Bank and other FIs..
usually CFAs get into trading, equity research roles...while in the initial phases one might not get into the trading roles as such..but after some years one usually makes into front end roles...CFAs also get absorbed into investment banking roles...
visit CFA institute website..they have got a chart of different roles and profiles CFAs get into..

About the risk taking thing..well I've heard that CFA exam will be conducted in other metro cities across India from this year itself (read somewhere on this thread only)...so there's not much risk involved..

You can start by looking for jobs in brokerages etc. Mind it do not go for sales roles..they wouldnt help you...
As a first step, make ur resume on job sites..and put forward clearly that u would be pursuing CFA and are interested in roles related to research etc...
u can also go to NCFM website..download capital markets etc courses from there and go through them to start ur preps...
if you wanna go for some certifications..you can go for NCFM certifications..altho I would recommend Treasury and Capital Markets certifications by Finitiatives...hope this helps..

Hello puys, It's great to find some people doing great job by helping others in their pursuit of CFA..

I'm a commerce graduate and now going to study PGDM at TAPMI. ..
I also want to study CFA along with MBA.. But i'm a little apprehensive about the things turning out to be too hectic..So I'm confused about taking this Level 1 on december 2010 (or in june, 2011).. So i want to know how much rigorous does it get while studying MBA.. And is this possible to carck level 1 in december 2010 with good grades and also not letting your MBA's grades suffer.. Need some opinios on this, puys....

P.S. I've been working for last 26 months.. So, most of things about finance, I learnt during my grad have become blurred.....

most probably you would be taking up finance in the second year...
in the first year many subjects would be common with the CFA L-1 course..like economics..quantitative application..basics of accounting...other subjects like equity, fixed income and derivatives etc would prepare you for MBA 2nd year subjects...

it is going to be rigorous..but you will get help in many subjects..and to tell u the truth..people pass in HR, marketing etc etc without much studying..its subjects like quants etc which are difficult to crack and these would be common with ur cfa...

Hello friend, Do not use the term studying as well as waste of time in parallel. It seems you are just 22. There is ample time for you. I would suggest you to do either CA or ICWA, for CA if you appear for cpt this december, you can appear for ipcc in next 8 months to dec, once you clear that you are bound to get a job of atleast 8-12k in delhi or mumbai, for icwa you shall be allowed exemption in foundation and have to appear in inter directly. i am saying you this because BBA itself is not of a good value, but if done simultaneously with some rigorous financial courses it is a magic course, don't think your age is over or something like that. I know many people who have started CA at 25 or something and completing by 29-30, and many people keep on appearing the finals too many time. It is better to do ca or icwa rather than cfa for your profile. PM me if you need further help...........
How is the curriculum shipped and when will I get it?
The curriculum is shipped via UPS (Worldwide Saver for international shipments/UPS Ground for North America shipments). Candidates should allow six to nine business days for delivery. For international candidates, the package should reach the customs department within nine business days. It is the candidate's responsibility to clear the package from customs.

So do I have to clear the material from the customs myself?
