Need some Opinions on CFA

@ashish

Hey, I am also planning to buy it from ebay. Did you get a warranty with it ?
If yes, for how many years ?

@ Akshat

Dude, Congrats for clearing all the three levels. I have gone through all of your previous posts. They were very informative.

Please let us know about your L 3 experience. How did you prepare for it ? How L3 is different from L 1 and L 2 as people say it's the baap of all three levels with descriptive questions. Any suggestions, tips etc you want to give to future L 3 candidates.

Best,

Darius

One year limited warranty... i got BA II Plus Professional actually. Not worth paying the extra thousand bucks though.. Only a few extra functions and a great look..

Has anybody sold CFAI texts of previous level, is there any secondary market for these books??

Do bookstores purchase these books !!!

Hey!! so which calculator do u suggest??

Hmm.. the added features of BA II Plus professional are:

1) Modified Internal Rate of Return (MIRR)
2) Net Future Value (NFV)
3) Payback
4) Discounted Payback
5) Modified Duration

It's upto u to decide whether u need these features at an extra cost of 1K depending on how often u might use these feature.. The normal BA II Plus calculator is good enough to clear L1.

Hi, I cleared my Level 1 the past year and have applied for Level 2. I have no financial background previous to this other than clearing the advisor module for mutual funds (by AMFI/NSE). How should I go about studying for the Level 2 exam?

What is the pattern for the exam, type of questions(MCQ?) and what basics are prerequisite to study Level 2 material? What areas of study should I focus most on?

I cleared my Level 1 with not too many problems and studying for just a limited time but obviously I expect Level 2 to be much tougher. Are Schewser notes enough? (They seemed good enough for clearing level 1, if not for understanding the concepts clearly)

In the end, is giving practice papers and doing a question bank is enough? What books/resources do you suggest.

Thanks.

MBA_Must:

The web site adarreview.com has a free practice exam. Also, they have a discount for people taking the CFA exam this December. You can get an online membership for $40. You must use the coupon code: 1209FRM40

I think that the web site is very helpful to practice before the exam.

Best of luck.

You need to do CFA if you have interest in Finance especially investment banking. Doing CFA just to have additional qualificaitons is waste of your time. Do it only if you have interest in it and want to pursue your career in IB

If you have cleared L1, then you should not have a problem in getting through the L2, just put in maybe 25% more effort and you will clear. Focus on all the topics

Dude, I don't have the link to the 2010 QBank.. In case you want to continue using your 2009 QBank, try changing the date in your PC to some date in January 2009... That should work fine...

Thanks Nooruddin,

That's what I'm currently doing. Just in case someone gets a link where the 2010 L2 Q bank is uploaded please PM me!

Cheers,
Vivek
