hey i am from Pune and will be giving Level 1 dis december..
Got my books form Laxmi Xerox d other day.. Regarding classes, i dun think der's any coaching classes in Pune...there r sum in Mumbai..
Jus PM me ur number.. we can contact each other shud form a study group as even am newbie to CFA..

i had a chat with a guy from pristine careers and he said that they can start a batch at pune if there are upto 20 students, they already have 5 if if can gather another 10-15 students then we can get a batch started at pune for cfa coaching....
and i m not from a finance background and cfa being tough and expensive i don't want to take risks and hence need adequate coaching...
let's start finding people in same boat....what say buddy???

whether u can take december Level 1 exam in India is not known yet..
They allowed the june exam in India which was held in Mumbai but for december the case is still on... U can enroll ur self On the cfa website which i guess is cfainstitute.org..
U can go through previous post in this thread...Almost every query is answered over here..

I think we are already 8 people...(5 they already have, that includes u and then 3 more have joined to it, including me).
If we can find 7 more people we can probably form a batch and ask them to take up coaching for us.

Any updates abt the centre in india for dec 2009 xam. If not india then which centre would be choice of ppl from india?
do i have to register with the cfa institute only even if i intend to choose india as my centre..??..im asking this cos i contacted the institute and they told me that they dont arrange for exams in india..

u have to register to CFA institute to give exam anywhere in the world.... u can choose India as center if india does not appear in the option choose any center of ur choice... later if the Indian court permits CFA institute to conduct exams in india then u will be given an option to change ur center...

Hi Puys...need some info wrt CFA. I'm Vandan,techie by profession. I am planning to have a career shift from IT to Non IT background. I have a good amount of interest in the Finance domain. Though an expert, thru external resources I have a good awareness in the finance domain . I have few queries which I would like to be answered before I make any move and enroll myself for CFA.
1) Being an Engineer and considering myself as no vice in this domain, is it necessary for me to read external resources like business mags and understand the market scenario's in a much better way before I make an attempt to enroll?
2) Does CFA as a course provides more insight to the Finance sector then majoring in Finance??
3) Lastly,how much effort do one needs to put to clear the exam.

Yes actually you can go ahead and enroll for US CFA.. If you are really sure that
this is going 2 help you in future. I just gave the CFA Level 2 in June n wish I had given it just after completing college.......
