If you can tell me from where can I get the Level 1 Videos.. I visited a couple of sites but it is taking a lot of time to download.. if you know any place which sell these videos in CD/DVD format in mumbai or anywhere else in India would be helpfull....
Any body else having any knowledge on the availablility of the videos in CD/DVD format !!! please do let me know.. if you can actually purchase the videos in CD format..
Man I dont have the videos, and neither have i used them ever. I'll try to look for links to those videos, but mostly it will be some rapidshare link. So the download speed wont be too much anyways. Doesnt the laxmi xerox give out videos when one purchases the material from them ??? If I get my hands on some links, will surely pm you.
akshat ...man u really rock....i read thru this thread 2 hours straight ...collected important and relevant info and as it turned out it was all what u penned down .....keep up the good work....im preparing for L1 dec2009....no knowledge of finance now ....dont want to take a risk with ....50000+.... one question ... which would be a better choice singapore or kathmandu....when there the trade off between money and ease?
I'll be answering ur question after i take the exam this time in katmandu. I took both level 1 and 2 in bombay. i am taking nepal this year, as i need to join college right after the CFA exam and lucknow is close to nepal. As such I dont think theres much of a difference in the ticket prices. If u have time in your hand, u cud perhaps plan a short vacation and go to singapore. Also, singapore is better connected. About nepal, i'll comment once i go there and write the exam.
I have checked out rapid share and there is one more website semfinance.. but it takes lot of time to download those videos... will check with laxmi xerox about the videos....

whether coaching is necessary/ mandatory to clear it. i have schweser notes. will the material in schweser notes is sufficient to clear level 1. i come to know that there is another comrehensive book schweser suice ( 270 pages at all).
please suggest me so that my money is not going to waste ?? i can do any thing to clear the exam ?? plz guide me as u have cleared level 1 & 2. hope u will reply me & guide me.

Hi The site clearly specifies that every level requires arnd 250 hours of work. I'll try to put things in perspective over here for u and other CFA Level 1 aspirants as well. The post is arranged as follows. Try to follow the topics in the sequence given: Topic Time required 1. Quants: Session 2 & 3 : 2 days concentrated study: 15 hours to master
2. Economics: Session 4, 5 and 6 : 40 hours. (6 days) as the concepts learnt here will go a long way in the CFA program.
3. FSA : Sessions 7 to 10 : 60 hours: (10 days) : very very important topic
4. Corp fin : Session 11 : 1 day
5. Equity investments analysis : session 13 and 14: 3 days, important
6. Derivatives analysis: session 17 : 3 days, very very important
7. Fixed-income : session 15, 16: 3 days, try to grasp the various risks involved and the concept of duration and yield curve.
8. portfolio management : session 12, one day
9. Alternative investments: session 18, 2 days
Try to revise your course twice before may. one can do your course once in one month. so finish your course by 20th march the first time around and by april end the second time.
starting May , just mug up the ethics portion and solve as many papers as possible.
I did it this way and cleared the exam. It sounds very comprehensive but trust me, its possible.
I did with a job, and had no background of fin as such.

Firstly, please try to tone down the desperation, as it will affect u when u take the test. Focus more on the effort rather than the result. Trust me, adequate effort will reap in huge gains.
About coaching: I havent taken any coaching, for any of the levels. But since i dont represent the junta on the whole, i wud say its ur call. If u are comfortable with the topics, then coaching is not required. Just be disciplined enough to go back to the books everyday till june.
Schweser notes are more than enough to clear the test. If u want better understanding, then read the actual curriculum. Secret Sauce is a "last minute revision" tool, so leave that for last minute .
Whether ur mmoney is going to waste or not again depends on ur perspective. If ur mindset is that of learning new things, then definitely it wont be a waste, in any scenario. Because after all this also is an educational course, not some short cut to get a job.
U have already gone thru the suggested study plan, so i guess u have all the guidance u need. Start ur prep and hope for the best.

I have a credit card but the limit is 20000 rs and i need to register as quickly as possible for the cfa ..to get the material .. anyone who has used any other means please inform....and dont suggest using relative's card ,thats not an option for me.... I have applied for PASSPORT and PAN CARD and expect them in a week so should I go for registering with PASSPORT/PANCARD or should I register with DRIVING LICENCE NOW?:sad:

Driving license is a valid proof, as such the most preferred proof is one's passport.. but as such you dont have one as of now.. you can give your driving license as the proof.. its a valid government identity proof... moreover later if you feel like changing it to passport at a later date you can do so.. there is option of changing the identity proof... so you can register now with your driving license as the proof.. as it is very much accepted by the institute as a valid government proof...

HI guys I am in urgent need of some information... I wanted to apply for the december cfa before march 16th... And I dont have a credit card ... I mailed the cfa institute regarding the same and they "seem" to say that i can pay the money for registration via wire transfer.. They have provided the details,but I dont have any experience of a wire transfer AND I was not looking to make a mess of it the first time..... ANYONE on this forum who has used a wire transfer for registering for cfa PLEASE HELP.... PM me ur contact number..PLZ
Well I have again landed into another problem. Have wrongly filled up a detail.......!!!!
But I went to the edit section and changed it but my query is when I edited it, the detail that I filled up earlier is in WHITE BACKGROUND and the one I filled by changing the previous one is in YELLOW.....????? So is there anything to worry for?????:sad:

i am also plannin to giv CFA in decmber 2009... hav done engg ...presently workin wid L&T...; i don't hav any prior knowledge of finance.. very much confused whether i will be able to cope up or not.. u hav been talkin about some videos... i hav no idea about that...wud u plz lemme know.... i also want to know where to get the schweser notes in mumbai..
