Hi All,

The application of a b-school demands that one should write a short essay to describe any gaps in resume.

I had a gap of 1 year after 12th to prepare for entrance exams. Since then i have had no gap in my work experience of 3 years. Do you think this one year drop after school also comes under gap in resume and should be written about in a short essay ? And if it does , should i be honest about it ?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks !
Chirag

Hi puys,
I have a similar problem.I did my 12th from a boarding school but then due to various confusion and family issues had to drop a year.I have done BSc after that from my home town.
Can you please enlighten me whether this is some cause of worry with regards to admission to the top b-schools?

Thanks,
doux

Hi Frds,

I have 2 yrs of gap after my 12th which i took for IIT coaching and had not qualified also.

but no gaps there after.

Whats the solution??

talk to the people at roekee.com they might be able to help you out

It is not so important that you have no recent experience. I have a great idea how you can smooth the issue with a gap in your experience. Just use Functional Resume Format! It will help to close the gap and show your skills. I found a good  site with examples. Here you can see in detail how to make such resume format and see a few samples: https://resumesbot.com/junior-java-developer-resume-example/ The main thing is that you have desire and worthy motivation. Undoubtedly, the employer will appreciate it over time. But first you need to convince him that it is you who are perfect to this position.

As a personal suggestion I would recommend checking out

https://www.mentorrd.com/book/ and  https://www.mentorrd.com for free resume analysis and this is precisely what I started with and found it really interesting enough to further contact the team for certain queries at [email protected]. They had an expertise panel from top B schools who provided great guidance.
