Its been 10 days in Bank of India and its been full of learning and new experiences.. My first job.. First 10 days of being employed.. As some of you may know I have been posted at Nehru Place Branch of New Delhi. Being from commerce background and CA Inter pass out the head of our branch thought that it was best to keep in advances department. Given that there was a vacancy in the department as well as my leanings towards the department it was in the interest of both the bank and me. In the last 10 days I have learned a lot of new things like learning how to make bank guarantees, how a loan is processed although i cant make proposals as of now I can handle the customers and assist the seniors in the process, how an inspection is done before granting a loan, how various files and registers have to be maintained so our audit rating doesn't drop. There has been some public dealing but most of it over phone otherwise there is no rush in retail credit. Since getting my finacle password I have learnt how to open and close an account or an fdr. Learnt about various products offered by our bank. So all in all living the dream and absolutely enjoying it. Coming to the admin side people are helpful and willing to train you as much as they can although the processes can be slow and frustrating at times. The branch environment depends on the head as well as you, if you are positive and willing then this bank has amazing opportunities but if you are negative and joined the bank as a stop gap arrangement then you will absolutely hate it because you will have almost no time for other preparations The biggest plus of being in retail credit is that even 50 year old people call you sir. Hope you guys don't mind such a long post

Hi guys,

need some suggestions. I'm preparing for UPSC and side by side i'm appearing for other exams also. Now Indian Bank has come up with HR officer post.

How is the HR officer post in Indian Bank? Can i continue with my UPSC preparation after joining it? Hows the workload there for an HR officer? Do HR officers get posted in HO/RO or any office? And in case i dont make it through UPSC how is the career progression of an HR officer in a PSU Bank?

TIA

Incase a PO decides to quit his job from Canara Bank, either for higher studies or other jobs (ssc, upsc, state psc jobs) within probationary period, should he pay any penalty amount other than Rs.25K mentioned in order? Also clarify whether relieving process would be simple or complicated? Any other service conditions to get relieved from bank (notice period, salary etc.)? Seniors please guide..

Hey Puys! If u could help me with my preference list for IBPS  I will b very thankful...

I am searching for a bank which has tremendous opportunities to learn and grow, where good and hard work is appreciated and promotions are fast based on good work. I ideally want to do an MBA after 4-5 years of work experience so good brand name and good career enhancement would be preferable. Money is not the priority. Location is not a restriction if other conditions are fulfilled but Tier A cities are preferred.

I have prepared a list for the first few names. Any advice is appreciated.

BOB, PNB, IDBI, BOI, Canara Bank, Union Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, United Bank, Corporation Bank, CBI...so on

Kindly tell me is this list ok according to my requirements and also if

PNB should be preffered over BOB?

I HAVE A QUIRY IS THERE ANY PROVISION TO TAKE LEAVE FR UPSC OR ANY OTHER EXAM WHILE IN A PROBATION FOR BANK PO

IBPS PO form filling doubt:

hey puys please tell me the names of a few banks (like ECGC and BMB ) where postings are generally in main cities and not generally in rural areas.....

Hi puys,

I request you to read whole post and help me genuinely.

I am in deepest dilemma & can't focus on anything. I work as Windows Phone developer & tech lead since 2+ years in Ahmedabad. I am 90% satisfied with my job. My in-hand salary is 28K-30K. We have flexible time, 5 days a week work, overtime being paid per hour, smaller & good staff (50-60 people & no politics) and best thing is we are total 3 Windows Phone developer among them I was the first to join the company. My company is also in growing stage (4 years older only). Why 90% satisfied because Windows Phone is not successful at all, so my career is in danger and another thing is job security in IT company. Though I am pro in IT but I can't move to any govt. job after certain age, so I have to decide now where to go. An IT guy has to update himself with newer technology & platform. It's like a student life till death. I can move to Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore but I want to settle in Gujarat ONLY.

So I decided to do job in bank as IT officer or as PO/clerk. I have heard IT officer get posted in metro cities only. I don't want to go to south or north India. I am willing to work in west part only since I am the only son of my parents. I don't want to go far, so I am giving IT officer less priority. Now turn comes for PO. People are saying PO has more work load, targets, frustration, bla bla. So I am now confused. I want genuine opinion from veteran & current PO, especially from those who were first working in IT companies. Clerk can be posted within home state, but it has less salary plus less growing chance. I want to grow in home state not want to wander to grow & earn money.

I read this blog http://experienceinbankingsector.wordpress.com which changed my perception about PO. My life goal is to settle within Gujarat with a secured job with good salary.

My questions/confusions are given below.

1. Is the stress level higher than IT company in PO?

2. If I clear IBPS, is there possibility of getting posting in UP, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal etc. or I may get posting near to my home state or within state?

3. What kind of targets are given & what kind of work I will have to do? Please give me point wise answer regarding duties & responsibility.

4. If I am selected in PO but I don't like the job then it would be too tough to return back to IT job. So how can I test myself whether I will like the bank PO or not?

5. I can choose clerk but it has less salary. So I thought I should do IT freelancing in free time with clerk job, is it good option?

6. Last but not the least, RRB. Gujarat has 3 RRB if I crack it I can settle in Gujarat. Should I give high priority to it? Is it worth compare to IBPS PO or IT Officer?

7. After how many years as PO my transfers will be stopped?

Thanks for reading this & helping me. Best of Luck & God bless you.
