I am not so big an ass as to make a trip 30 kms west and return without going to the Powers That Be - thats the admission office. They have a confidential list of course - four pages full of names - which they waved at me but didnt let me have a look....but the list is not for public consumption.
The admissions chaps told me that there have not put up any list on their notice board and will be individually mailing all selected and waitlisted candidates. And from their talk, I am NOT AT ALL sure that there are 120 seats this time...though thats what mr kgk pillai told us at a seminar before CAT.
Hey vipin...i asked the two people who had gone to check the list for me...they both said it was not displayed on the notice board...instead it was being displayed THRU a glass table at the office or mr. pillai's office (i forgot to ask where exactly)...u know...it was like the chocolates on display or jewellery at display...except that it was inside a glass table rather than a shelf...and my friends again confirmed that there r 120 students who have got in...with 60 waitlists...so this is what i have gathered from them...as i had said earlier...offer letters would be despatched from tuesday...i don't think that u'd want to make another trip there...but if u do...i hope this post would help u...
and karishma...my interview was just after u...the last person to be interviewed...the person who kept walking through out the day...three people from our group of 11 have made it...(including me)...and when u make it (which by the look of things u will)...u would be the fourth...imagine...what a ratio...4:11...and i thought our gd was the worst!...anyone at PG from that group who didn't make it?
I have no idea what criteria mica looks for...if it was just how badly we wanna get in then i dont think we would have had any problem...i think they are jus plain crazy i guess...to not take u in.......and bugs...has the message changed for you guys????????? Kari

There are some amazingly talented people in the PGP 1 & 2 batches here at MICA. All those who make it have to go through gruelling levels of testing: CAT, MET, GD & PI...

abt selection criteria and people not getting selected, yes, this is not a MICA bashing thread, just a thread for MICA hopefuls.. some have got thru, some have been left confused and unsure by MICA's amazing communications, yet others have seen their dreams dashed etc etc... since MICA isnt all too forthcoming abt info and like someone posted, isnt very transparent abt the selection process, it opens itself to criticism and or blame... just a natural reaction of people perplexed, i wud say...
I don't know, really, no one's criticizing MICA for who it selects and doesn't select. Of course the Insti. has a right to choose whoever it wants to, just as we have a right to express our opinions on who we thought were deserving candidates. That MICA will come up with 90-odd brilliant students for its PGPCM batch goes without saying. It doesn't mean anyone who expresses an opinion or indulges in light-hearted banter is bashing the Insititute.

If 120 ppl hv already been selected for an intake (as of now) of 60...where does that leave those in the waitlist with supposedly "very high chances of being confirmed"??? From the way things look on this and other MICA-related threads, it dosent look like many of the selected 120 will drop out...Then y the hell have the guys at MICA given us a pseudo-optimistic message that will push us even more down in the dumps if we are not selected..?? I personally feel that if there isnt a close to 100% chance of being selected, the waitlist people should not have been given such a deceptively optimistic message... I have already started dreaming about life at MICA...daydreaming about myself sitting at the MICAfe with a bunch of like-minded individuals discussing about the ultimate meaning of life and my all-time favourite topic-the question of whether God really does exist... I will be totally, completely, devastatingly shattered if I dont get thru after having such high hopes...And something gives me the sneaking suspicion that I am the unfortunate no. 60 on the waitlist of 60 people...I really am going maddd...:shocked:

MayB says its 120 selections for 120 seats yaar...and 60 waitlists.... I still maintain there are 90 selections for n number of seats...if seats are 120 it will explain why MICA is gungho abt waitlists getting cleared; if seats are 90 then lets hope most selected ppl get through to the IIMs...

Not having met you or spoken to you like Kari and Bugs have, I can't claim to know much about ya....but your posts and your blog prove you've got creativity and a great deal of talent...

I dont buy the fact that the 60 Waitlisted guyz dont have any chance....
As per my analysis, CAT scores was given a god amount of weightage... True that some guyz with %iles in 80s have got in but it is also true that ALMOST NO ONE with above 98 %ile has been rejected.....so it holds both ways....
And if i assume that everybody above 97 %ile aggregate has had a decent (not fantastically bad) GD/MET/PI, we can safely assume that atleast 60 % of these 120 guyz selected belong to this lot.
Now this 97+ lot has a very good reason for rejecting MICA (other calls)... And hence we can safely create a place for 60 guyz.
BTW.... I have been selected...My profile is as under:
Aggregate :98.71
VA :99.85
QA: 91
DI: 67
I shall definitely NOT go to MICA... So one spot is vacant and up for grabs !!!

what absolute mayhem on this thread....Deepa first of all noone is interested in bashing mica...you may by now understand how much the people here want to get into your institute...all i have tried to do is cheer up some people who i felt should have been given a chance..sure i have no clue what mica ultimately looks for...and this is not to demean the people who have been selected...or to blame the institute in any way...its just to express surprise over some of the decisions.....I believe that this is a thread in which one can be vocal about what we feel...so pls dont feel offended when we do that......im sure you were in the same boat last year..especially because you were waitlisted too....so please try and understand the frustration of seeing ur dream so near and yet so far....anyways i apologise if i have hurt your mican sentiments in any way...shall be a little careful in the future about any references to mica......

well, well. somebody finally realised my potential, hey MICA panel 1 duo, r u listening?? jokes apart, thx for the king words scarlett. me tired of waiting but hv no option.
and jormund i am not hiding , just didnt get enough time to logon and go thru the mica thread which flows like Ganga. i was back at my routine with office ppl tired of my cribbing and telling them each week tht from next week 'i wont be coming' and things like tht. finally they got hold of my butt and sent me on yet another training session.

Pleeezzz Jormund! U really have a problem gauging u're capabilities! I know i speak for everyone on this thread when i say that u're posts and u're blog is oozing creativity and panache. I very strongly feel that its MICA's loss if'ure not there. If all the ppl on this thread who rave abt u're writing cant convince u, who can??? Oh btw, Im definitely coming to M'bai {provided the selection commitee ppl at Xaviers and MICA are'nt likeminded} and as soon as i get there, i will embark on a hunt for PG's favourite sea-serpant! It'll certainly make my stay there fuitful! And yes! I wud really appreciate it if u drop the prefix, MISS.

Ummm..received wisdom on this thread seems to indicate that there isn't any Waitlist number, there are 120 seats (as reported by a bloke who has been to the MICA Office) and there are 60 people on the Waitlist. Your chances are obviously pretty bright if this is indeed accurate information.
the waitlisted candidates will know if they have converted only after the 20th of april.before that ofcourse we are expected to pay the first sem fees which will be returned to us if we donot convert.
