Congratulations to all those who have finally made it. Those who didn't - tough luck. You've probably realised that wanting something badly isn't enough to get you that. Takes a little bit more than that.
I'm sure the batch that's coming in will be a rocking one... barring a few exceptions... law of averages and all. We've tracked what's been said in these threads and we have a fair idea of the kind of people who are coming in... whether they will "screw life for MICA" ... we will wait and watch.
To put an end to the debates about engineers at MICA... they are neither at an advantage nor at a disadvantage. They are equally clueless about the courses when they come in. We study almost 40 courses in the first year of PGPCM. The BMS/BBA folks find some of them easy. The Eco grads find some others easy. And the engineers are comfy with some other subjects. As for Genetics/Psychology/History/Literature grads... we plod through most of the courses and do well at what we enjoy most.
And please, some courses cannot be dealt with by creativity - you'll find what happens to the supposedly "creative" folks here soon enough. At the same time - numbers may be the foundation for management in practice, but numbers don't give the answers to everything. Only 1/4th of my batch are engineers - a lot less compared to most other Management Schools.
You don't have to be an engineer to become a marketing manager - you just need to be good at it
Yes, there will be the feelings of sour grapes ... it takes a higher degree of evolvement to get over that. Who knows... you'll probably going a place that is more suited to who you are.
Those who've made it - you may love MICA or you may wonder what the hell you're doing there. Just remember - you chose it, just the same way that MICA chose you.

Well, If MICA eventually does not increase the number of seats and all 70 peeps who have accepted so far don't chuck, then we both still remain in the waitlist basket and the difference of 40 b/w both of us is not gonna do any good any further. Well, since there are if's and but's invovled here and if it is contrariwise, then you make it from 5 and take a big high-five from my end for that. And I will be more than happy that my pal Al made it.

Ok, I need some help. Doing an assignement and want to give a 'Strategy'. Have a brand that's meant for people like us. Young, energetic and with a goal. Need a brand ambassador.

Ok... the situation stands at this in Mica currently. The reason why the screw up on the number of seats has happened is because the AICTE approval on the increase in the number of seats is not yet through. That is why the number of selected stands at 70 and no further. Mica is still hoping for a word on the number of seats by AICTE and also expecting a positive from then. Until then they are not making any statement on the waiting list and neither are they sending the DD's of the candidates likely to be affected by this mess back till then. Prof Tandon has arrived in Mica today so hopefully there should be some kind of decision.
So now what are our chances? Very bleak i am afraid. As our future lies in the AICTE's hands and that being a government body....well i dont need to say further.
I hope someone can get us a more updated version from Mica as to the likely dates on this entire issue.
Al i think even if sana was being sarcastic, she would still be supporting one side of the argument? Which i believe i explained was worng. Taking sides is whats getting to me...
And i never proclaim to be an enlightened soul...so kindly refrain from making such observations of people...because then i shall add some of my own about you...which again does not resolve the argument.....

I'd say saif ali khan because the others are OK if you are targetting a slightly younger audience and are selling something like Fast track Eyewear......I gues Saif Ali Khan would fit in perfectly post Kal Ho Na Ho and Hum Tum.....
hey i would pick up saif this is more of an elimination process john is very rough, tough kind guy...would be good for a C,D or a SUV kind of a car....palio more like a family car zaeed would nt really give the impetus the car wants to have shahid again very low on brand impact....plus personality is nothing too great to talk abt saif on the contrary is suave ,stylish and gives u a very cool kind of feeling would have maximum brand retention and is equally popular amongst all age groups so my choice would definitely be saif amongst these four guys i hope i have helped you in some possible way regards nikhil

U got ur result via phone on the 20th, right. Well, 20th was when I trudged into mica once again and KGK repeated the balderdash yet again - only this time the percentage was 70 instead of 99 or 101. That is no small a shift in itself. He kept saying that there shouldn't be any problem for YOU - which told me that there were problems for those who were supposedly behind me on the w/l. On the 21st, I got a call from Luv and KGK telling me to hang on until Tandon takes a call on increasing the intake. In fact, when I asked him how was I who was supposedly w/l no. 1 according to them not in - surely someone must have cancelled the admission, KGK replied that nobody had. We know that that is a lie bcoz many ppl on this thread itself have left Mica for IIMs, IMT, IIFT and other instis.
Mica is 20 kms from my home and I've already burnt up a gallon of petrol in getting there often enoughbelieve me, I don't feel like going all that way only to be given some vague excuse or blatant lie or even being told point blank that I am rejected. So much for my geographical proximity to the mecca of advertising
About the AICTE thing, KGK had claimed in a seminar here in Ahmedabad that Mica had been given approval for 120 seats by AICTE and that intake was definitely being doubled. So either he was lying (yet again!) then or now.
An advice for almustafa and others.
Don't take ur w/l nos seriously. These ppl said I was w/l no 1 - apparently that is untrue as sonu_summerflower got through.in short any communication from Mica need be taken with a pinch of salt. Even if they confirm ur admission now on phone, don't believe until u have a letter in hand.

the dates for mica had ben extended after they said seats were to increased.i was one of them.I didn't get thru.

I had stopped coming to thios forum for sum time.As i used to read the threads,i used to feel worse.....the evr present euphoria used to jolt me in the nerves.The thread went a long way..started of with announce ments...and then poured in the sentiments.The anxiety...the happiness...the sorrows...the winners and the losers.....alll of them posting.Some were happy that they got thru...some couldn't ignore the fact that they lost. this was the fact that i made a post that this thread is going like a movie. There were heros and there were heroines.All that was lacking were the villains.Some one in a post had tried to show that MICA was a villainf actually.Some MICA students and alumni had stepped in And then had started the theme that "MICA bashing won't help".This sentiment had been grabbed by the people. But as i read thru the recent threads....threads which i had missed......all of a sudden no one is saying that MICA isn't a wimp. Looks like with recent postings in the last Four pages.....MICA some how turns out to be a villain.From goofing up the process....to raising false hopes...cheating...money making...Back door entries...lying...and what not. Just couldn't help thinking that WHAT..WHAT if these people had gotten through.What if they get thru next year...Will MICA be good again? But surely vipin any communication is better than no communication at all right...im supposedly waitlist no 18...but i believe their math is skewed since they said am 82 on the overall list and 70 people are through...so that makes me no 12 right?...I havent received any communication from Mica at all...not even a sorry to inform you that you have not made it...yeah bout the aicte thing even i was present in Mumbai when KGK made that speech...only the difference was in Mumbai he had said they are most probably getting the grant...but that hasnt happened yet...believe me cause i tend to believe this source...and this is something another friend of mine at Mica also said...but she had said that they are gonna wait till may for the approval and then the waitlist people will be cleared....
I believe the final word on this entire issue is going to be Prof Tandon....I was asking you the questions because you stay nearest to Mica...believe me 20 km doesnt seem much when you live in Mumbai....i mean i travel 25 km to work everyday!!!!!!!!!
At this point if we can get any information it shall be good news...so if u can manage another trip...if not atleast call up and speak to the admissions office...also try calling up as waitlist No1 and then waitlist No 45 (thats the Mican)...lets see if the information changes in any way....im telling you all this cause it will be a local call for you whereas its Std for us...

As much as Id love to I dont really buy the seats gonna increase theory less than 2 months before the commencement date. This is a residential programme, and I cant help but think it takes lot more than a last minute decision to increase the seats. Bah, I hope Im wrong too. Lets be optimistic and hope Santa comes early for all of us... If not now, what the hell, life goes on... and hes gotta come eventually with the pending goodies!
Who knows what they have in mind... Whoz gonna believe them even if they tell you? Lets just wait for the bit of paper thats heading our way and see what it says...

well...finally some kind of sanity seems to have returned to proceedings here...now that all allegations and counter allegations have ceased i wanna raise an important point here...reading some posts here tells me that people who have work ex in this industry and have been rejected have found it virtually impossible to fathom it...and i think in the process they have undermined the credibility of the people who have made it...
lets understand one thing clearly...when MICA or any other institute selects candidates, they select people who r best suited for their course...the purpose of the MET and the interview was to shorlist people who have the aptititude or the potential required for this field...and i'm afraid that having work experience in the communications field does not amount to having an aptitude for it...i hope u guys would appreciate the difference between aptitude and experience...i mean...there are thousands of people working in communications field today...can we assume that all of them have the aptitude for it?
not suggesting for a moment that people like kari should have been rejected...but my point is...why don't we explore the possibility that MICA may have found someone with a better aptitude for the subject?...they've been doing this for years...and i'm sure they know what they are doing...and even if they've made some blunders in selection...i think its something very natural considering that they are trying to judge a person in about 20-30 minutes...some deserving people are bound to fall by the wayside...infact i'm sure that if they were to take that gd/pi again...we might find a different set of people getting in...that's how close the competition was!...
from what i've experienced thru this journey of trying to get into a decent institute...the institutes don't follow a process of selection, but rather a process of elimination...that's how tough the competition has become...and i think that what the institutes need to do is be more transparent as to why a particular candidate has been rejected...every shortlisted candidate should be given individual marks for his/her gd/pi...and if that's not possible, then atleast should be given the reasons for rejection...after all we invest thousands of rupees in this!...if they can ask us why MICA in the interview...we should have the power to ask them "why not us??"
by the way...this was the point of view of a person who has made it to MICA...so u may dismiss it if u like...i still think that a lot of u waitlisted people would get in and probably laugh over all this at the convocation ceremony two years hence...amen to that!...gl...Mayank.
