Pa-gal

Hey Vipin and Pa-gal,

Sorry about that insidious question put forth by me. It was one such instance of sheer prying quiddity of mine that propelled me to ask. I second your opinion, Vipin, that if not for Pa-gal, a lot of us would have been deprived of teeny-weeny tidings and realities. Hey Pa-gal, thanks for that. And let's reach a full stop on this by asking Pa-gal to continue reporting with her gyaan!!!!!

Hey Pa-gal .......your earlier post looks bleak with your signature.......want more gyaan?

Godspeed.

Hey Godspeed,

And your sign reminds me that I have a lot of unfinished business to keep up with... and for all my gyan, you sound like a talking dictionary... what vocab, man!!

So on that note, to you, vipin and all others...

Free subscriotion....of Gyan Channel

from yours truly

Want some more Gyan???

Hey Pa-gal .......your earlier post looks bleak with your signature.......want more gyaan?

Godspeed.

Hey Pa-gal,

There is a minor correction in the text. Hey I have been screwing it up. Haven't I?

" Your previous post looks bleak without your signature..........want more gyaan?"

It is not " With u r signature" - how in the hell can it look bleak with u r signature? That's what raises everyone's brow.

Sorry bout that.

One word interspersed wrongly can make a helluva of a difference. So I hope you are not taken amiss by that.

Man I need to refine my proofreading skills.

Hey,
BTW that signature is my fav dialogue from Kill Bill which happens to be my fav movie as well.

Godspeed.

Hey Godspeed,

Happens. I thought as much that you miss the 'gyan'...and thanks for the info on Killbill. I have heard its a scary movie...

neways, good to be here and getting new gyan myself...

Pa-gal

Want some more gyan??

Hi Mican and Pa-gal...

Seems like we have monopolized the discussion among ourselves...whither the original denizens of this thread - kari, jormund, zonked et al?

And pa-gal
since it seems that without your knowledge parinda bhi par nahin hilata at Mica, tell us ur opinion about what chances the people on the waitlist have of getting a confirmed call? you see, there are many like me looking for some reassurance...

Vipin

Well hullo everyone....what with the discussion about gyan and some more gyan and then even more gyan i thought my absence on the thread would go unnoticed.....But thats not to be...hey vipin here I am...and also to all those who pm-ed me to ask where i was...welll just been a very hectic 15 days in office....no time to surf the net or even muster up the strength to post...too many campaigns on fire...(Euphimism for had to go yesterday!)...so.....sorry havent been able to give my contribution or gyan as is being put forth here in the past few weeks......

Am wondering what has happened to Jormund, Zonked, Cestscarlett, absolutely clueless and a host of others as well....

To people who remember Quo Vadis....she got into IIM Indore!

Oh and almost forgot....waiting for the waitlist conversions.....

Kari

Hey Kari, Vipin, Godspeed n all others,

I am psting here what I had posted some time back

"Normally what happens in many insti is that just like all those with confirmed admissions are treated equally (No merit list there) even all on wait-list have an equal chance. Then it is up to the person on the waitlist to take a call and confirm his/her interest by paying the fees. Suppose all on the confirmed list fill up the seats, then waitlisted guys anyways get their fees back. I guess that must be the reason for MICA saying "you have 99% chance of getting in."

Like Quovadis, there may be quite a few others who got into IIM-I, K, or even MDI, SP Jain etc... so I feel that the waitlist people do have a chance. A good chance, may be.

Only thing is that the wait is getting sooooooooooooo loooooooooooooooooooong!

Pa-gal

Want more, some more, even more... Gyan??

Me around. Quite contrary to Kari, me left my job recently and am verrryy busy reveling in blissful laziness. Just dont hav any gyan to post. Me never even actually been to the MICA campus... physically at least

About the waitlist speculation, I believe someone had also posted something about this being a way for them to gauge how badly we want to get in... but see, after four rounds of testing, if MICA still needs to hold money as a criteria/ ransom to determine worthy candidates, methinks it lame. Ya dont think?

Hey, me not bitching. MICA rocks, and I do want to be there verrry much. :)

This wait is just painful though, it is.

its been so long ago and oh so long ago since i have posted on this thread since the scriptwriting i did .bt since i had no gyan or pure creative entertainment to offer i thot lets be just an observer:neutral: ....well absence of evidence is not evidence of absence right?!...so here i am!
its a relief to see this thread transform from a total mayhem ground to a platform of exchanging ideas and information.
bt the real reason for me posting is not the BS wat i did above
i got an e-mail from mica!...yes....for a flick of a second i thot maybe i am back to my day dreaming again...bt no it was there....right there in my inbox!......from KGK pillai:wow:

Dear Candidate,

This year, we received around 5500 applications. In such a highly competitive situation, we regret, you have not been selected by the Academic & Admission Committee. As you know, this certainly is not a true reflection of your abilities.
However, MICA will be conducting a series of one year Post-graduate programmes in various segments of the Communications Management. These Career Development Programmes will be specifically aimed for placement of students in respective industry/areas
beats me!....i wasnt even shorlisted for gd/pi.......seems like they sent a mail to all those souls who had applied to them!!!!!.....
i had long burried the memories related to a disasterous cat and an even more disastorous gd/pi sessions i had.....old wounds have been scratched again..sigh wish i cud be exchanging pleasantaries just like you all!.....
ok so before this whole post sounds like a weepy willow's cry.....n the mods crucify me of making this place a therapy centre..........just wanted to ask for suggestions.......do these one yr programs look good enough?...shud i think bout them
kari?...u seem to have conveniently forgotten me ........where r u in my time of distress?! .........other wise souls.....plz guide me!:eh:

Hi Appy, the expert pagal!

Short term courses : a short view. Here it is.

A. The courses in Public Relations and Event Management (PREM 😉 and Broadcasting Management are already in second batch. Both doing ewll. Placements have been 100%. What's more, quite a few of the guys have PPO from the internship they did in industry. If you are a guy with work-ex in relevant field, industry will garland you and set up a welcome committee for you.

B. Design Communication Management - second batch is announced. There too, placements have been 100%. It's a course whose time is yet to come.

C. A radio and TV broadcast studio is being set up on MICA campus.

D. All courses are taught by MICA faculty along with practitioners from industry.

So, with this info, think thru. Take opinion of people you know, and then decide.

PS: What a signature line, Appy. I love it!!!

Hey appy i surely havent forgotten ya...just that you had not posted on this thread for so long that i thought u werent even reading it anymore....

About the short term courses....contrary to what pa-gal has said i believe that placements are not that great after these courses....and by this i mean average placements...not the 8 lakh package that someone from broadcast got last year....

On an average the salaries you can expect are lower than that of PGPCm...another case in point is that the short term courses are not hard core advertising...the pr and events course is for well pr and event management...The creating crafting communication is hard core creative (not strategy like PGPCM) and broadcast (though a very good course) is only for getting into channels...

Therefore if you want to get into account or brand managemtn, these courses are not the right way to go...

It would be far better for you to do a course from XIC or Sophias in Mumbai as they are also well recognised.

Or you could join an advertising agency for some time and learn the basics on the job....

All of these options would be the right way forward if you want a career in advertising or Brand management.......

Kari

Hey Appy,

Kari is right. For one thing, you can not compare any lateral placements with regular ones. Secondly, any one year course, where selection has not had the CAT and following regour, can not get students who can be compared - in most cases - to PGPCM. And obviously, if the one year course students are getting the kind of placements that two year CAT genius might get, who will opt for two year and 4.50lakhs??

Hene the need to evaluate your career goals with what's being offered by any programme.

Want more Gyan??

guys is MICA gonna be giving us text books are we expected to be buying them during the course of the program ....I am asking this as a major chunk of the fees has been allocated to study material and library costs in the break up sent to me.....also if I wanna get a feel of the subjects in the first trimester are there any books I can start reading or any websites I can look up...

Hi Al Mustafa,

Books and reading material are provided. You re not expected to buy them. But I guess, Vinay from 2006 batch would know better. Also about what to read etc...

Hey,

Me too...........no idea bout the books and the study material .........guess they should be giving it to us?

Websites ...........visit agencyfaqs.com for news in the communications industry. Same with exchange4media.com, also visit adforum.com for some international news and outstanding creative wizardry. For articles, compilations, case studies et al visit www.ries.com. And most agencies have websites......so do a google yaar... google hai naaa!!!!!

Godspeed.

Hey pa-gal and all,

Don't miss Kill Bill on the morrow at 8 pm on Zee Studio (MGM). And clean up your ears for some staggering dialogues. Awesome plots........just don't miss out.

Thurman's performance is a humdinger. She has taken the movie to heights unscaled.

And ..............just don't turn a deaf ear to " You and I have unfinished business".

Godspeed.

hey thanks a million for the suggestions both kari n pa-gal!....... ...i am not interested in broadcast or pr...never considered them as an option.....was more intrigued bout the crafting communications course...for a fact i wud rather picture myself making or shaping ads than haggling with the clients or mincing money!.....even these sound like fun bt on the lesser side. ...moi more inclined towards creative dept....thats y i asked u guys...

i feel n u all will agree too that this course wud do wonders if i have some prior exp.......so i think i wud chuck it this yr...concentrate on my job(dunno wat to make of it of late! ) and give a short at cat...get into brand management!...well seems like i have chalked out a career plan after all!!

kari n others....keep posting bout the final mica calls!..waitlisted guys shud get thru since iim results are out.

n pa-gal......yeah i luv my signature
