One India & One World 2025: A Grand Celebration of Culture, Diversity, and Unity at LPU!

Lovely Professional University (LPU) once again lit up with a spectacular celebration of culture, unity, and talent during its much-anticipated One India & One World 2025 event. For several days, the campus buzzed with energy as students delivered vibrant performances, showcased mesmerizing cultural traditions, and created unforgettable moments. In the One India 2025 celebration, students represented the rich traditions of Indian states. The School of Physical Education, representing Punjab, took home the Winner’s trophy. The School of Computer Science and Engineering representing Madhya Pradesh, and the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, representing Tamil Nadu, were declared Runner-Ups. The Second Runner-Up titles went to Odisha, represented by the School of Bioengineering and Biosciences, Rajasthan by the School of Education, and Andhra Pradesh by the Mittal School of Business. Third Runner-Up honors were shared by Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala, with a number of other states earning consolation prizes for their impressive efforts.

On the international front, the One World 2025 event showcased the vibrant cultures of more than 30 countries. Nepal, represented by the School of Physical Education, won First Place. Gambia (Centre of Distance and Online Education) and Mongolia (School of Fashion Design and Technology) took Second Place. Third Place went to Tibet, Myanmar, and Ghana, while the Third Runner-Up positions were shared among Bhutan, Papua New Guinea, and Bangladesh. Several other countries, including Malawi, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe, received consolation prizes for their captivating performances.

The Chief Guest of the event, Col. Lovely Professional University (LPU) has taken a proactive and student-centric approach in response to recent concerns expressed by students and their families.

Considering the current situation and in light of concerns raised by parents and students, LPU has introduced an option for students who wish to return to their hometowns. These students will be allowed to appear for their end-term examinations in online mode, subject to government regulations. The dates and guidelines for these online exams will be communicated in due course of time.

For all other students who prefer to continue staying on campus, the university remains fully operational, and examinations and academic activities will continue as per the original schedule starting 12th May 2025.

Citing national security concerns LPU terminates MoUs with Turkey, Azerbaijan

“The move comes in response to the pro-Pakistan stance of Turkey and Azerbaijan,” said Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Rajya Sabha member and founder chancellor of LPU.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has terminated all memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with institutions in Turkey and Azerbaijan, citing recent geopolitical developments that it deems contrary to India’s national interest.“The move comes in response to the pro-Pakistan stance of Turkey and Azerbaijan,” said Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Rajya Sabha member and founder chancellor of LPU.

The move came against the backdrop of Turkey backing Pakistan and its condemnation of India’s strikes on terror camps in the neighbouring country and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor. Pakistan also used Turkish drones on a large scale during the military conflict with India.

Dr Mittal said this decision includes the immediate termination of student and faculty exchange programmes, joint research projects, dual degree initiatives, and all other forms of academic collaboration with institutions from the two countries.

“When our brave armed forces are risking their lives—whether in covert operations, air defence, or patrolling our borders—we, as an institution, cannot remain indifferent,” he added.

He stated that they will never associate with any institution that undermines India’s sovereignty.

The expo spotlighted a variety of standout creations and amazing problem-solving projects. One such project was the Counter Drone System, a sophisticated real-time drone detection and tracking solution developed using ROS 2 Humble. This system employs a trained AI model to identify drones through camera input and automatically tracks them using motor controls governed by Arduino. The project reflects immense potential for application in security and surveillance sectors.

Another innovation was a LoRa-based smart helmet for coal miners, equipped with sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, toxic gases, fire hazards, and workers’ vitals, along with an SOS button for emergencies providing a life-saving edge in hazardous environments. Adding to it was a breakthrough Posture Pal, an AI-assisted wearable that detects poor posture using motion sensors and delivers haptic alerts via vibrations. Compact and cost-effective, the device also logs real-time posture data through a connected mobile app, helping mitigate long-term spinal health issues.

Declaring the expo open, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, expressed immense pride in the students’ path-breaking innovations. Dr. Mittal encouraged every student to put forth their best, emphasizing, “Every project, big or small, reflects your passion and potential.” Citing the journey of Sri Vishnu, who secured a ₹2.5 crore global package, and successful student startups like Digantara and King Hills, Dr. Mittal accentuated how LPU promotes ideas that grow into impactful ventures. “Students are identifying real-world problems to executing creative solutions this is the essence of EduRevolution: empowering change-makers for society and the globe,” Dr. Mittal noted.

Broadridge, a leading provider of technology-driven solutions for the financial services industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lovely Professional University (LPU) today, marking the beginning of a strategic industry-academia collaboration. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia, equipping students with real-world skills and practical exposure to be industry-ready.

The MoU was signed between Ritu Rakhra, Head of HR, Broadridge India and Dr. Monica Gulati, Registrar, Lovely Professional University. As part of the initiative, Broadridge has introduced a structured Train the Trainer program, where its SMEs mentor LPU faculty to ensure effective knowledge transfer. The program will run for 80-90 hours over 16-17 weeks, with live sessions scheduled every week. The sessions include real-time case studies, interactive workshops, assignments, and pre-shared course materials that faculty can review in advance. Key topics covered in this include Product Management, Agile and SaFe, DevOps & SRE, Cloud & DevOps, and Cybersecurity.

Broadridge is working closely with LPU to enhance the curriculum based on faculty feedback, incorporating specialized areas such as Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, and Cloud Performance Management, amongst others. This specialized curriculum provides students with in-depth knowledge of financial technology, combining hands-on case studies, industry workshops, and interactive Q&A sessions to equip them for real-world challenges.

“This collaboration with Broadridge strengthens Edurevolution; LPU’s initiative to revolutionize higher education through practical learning and profound industry integration,” said Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU. “Through structured training of faculty by industry experts, the focus is on ensuring that students gain not just conceptual knowledge but contextual understanding. After completing the training, faculty members will receive Training Completion Certificates. They will then conduct a bootcamp in June and July 2025 to equip the 2026 graduating batch with industry-ready skills by August 2025. From 2027 onwards, these specialized topics will be incorporated into LPU’s B.Tech curriculum as four elective courses under an Open Minor program, with students taking one course per semester from their fifth semester onward.
