@rimcollian_2001: Well dude, some preference would surely be given to student applying from CAT, I think they are following a 30-70 principle this time. i.e. 30% MAT students and 70% CAT students. Your score seems to be good for MAT, and if you are well groomed you would get it.

@diesel boy: hey sarthak..thnks a lot...r u online? cud u come on msngr?..i want to chat wid u something abt the bimtech stff , if u hve time.

@diesel_boy
hey, thanx for the luck!i had lots of backlogs in btech, you think that might effect my chances?(applied for pgdbm, pgdib, pgrmm, also cat percentile is 75.xx)can you tell me about this retail course, that is,paypackages and all(not much info given in prospectus)

@alterego*: Well, in the end what matters is your final score, not how many back logs you had. I don't think it would be a problem... hmm, retail is an upcoming industry in India, so is this course, and I find it pretty neat on my part. Well, can't say much about the packages right now because I still need to compile my data well.... but yeah all I can say is that it rocked!! and I mean it...we are trying to come up with an online retail information website as well...so all your queries would definitely be listed there 😃

@diesel_boy
hey thanks for the info but can you give some rough picture on the pay packages also any news abt our results?when did you guys get them last year?i was told that they will be put up in a week, but its been more than two weeks....

my gd pi venue was hyderabad. i started early to make sure that i would be there by 8.45, the reporting time! by the time i reached there were a couple of candidates already waiting in the auditorium hall.
Groups were divided comprising of 10 members in each... i was in the second group, and the topic given to us was, "beauty peagents derogartory for women!?"
i didnt want to start the discussion as i thought raising the discussion would be potential rather than giving a start! the lady beside me initiated the dicussion. and it went on... i have taken enough chances to raise some strong points, which has given me intense satisfaction. i should say, the group was very well groomed and people were concerned enough for one another leaving enough space for discussion.
it went on well and i have given the conclusion for the discussion and there it ended.
after about an hour, i was called on for personal interview.
there were two panelists. after a warm greeting, i was asked to be seated.
Q1. Being a civil engineer can you suggest some measures for hyd municipality to improvise their traffic pattern?
A. i answered that i hail from visakhapatnam and i hardly every visited hyd.
Q2. Ok., tell me what are the major industries present in vizag
A. steel plant...
Q3. port??
A. a sea coast... obviously port!! ( i couldnt make it better here)
Q4. what is the name of the port?
A. Visakhapatnam port trust.
Q5. sure?? have you been there any time?
A. yes. i was an active member in a consultancy work done for VPT by our college.
Q6. So tell me what do you think of the open drainage system work which is going on?
A. i said i feel it is more of political view i find in rather an advantageous one. as i didnt want to continue in this kinda topics, i diverted it to my area of interest, global warming, saying that, "global warming is turning up so quickly, so i feel if we can do some project which would fruit in a year or two rather planning for hundred more years ahead"
Q7. (my idea worked here!!) tell me what is global warming all about?
A. (i have crossed my fingers there and ... started with def. and went on with all interesting statistical data which i had)
Q8. (they wanted to divert here...) so tell me what are your hobbies?
A. ( i guess this is because i have written graphology as a hobby in my application form which was present with them)... it is the best of my hobbies... i have been working on it from my tenth class. i explained them what it is all about!
Q9. The lady appreciated me for that, and gave me a piece of paper comprising of her handwriting asking me if could analyse and tell her something out of it.
A. i did.....
thats it... she said it was nice talking to me. i replied formally saying same here...
and a thank you!
in between some more questions were there like... why delhi and why birla... i answered them also.. (as its been some days that this happened so i couldnt make it when was it in the sequence!!)
i left the room with full level of satisfaction! this is all about my gd pi...

well i was told that result shuld be out by 2nd march bcoz right now also gd/pi r going on ... was told on the gd/pi day that result shuld be out by 2nd march..

I faced the admission process on 17th February 2007 at Greater Noida. They had called the aspirants fron Northern India

(Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, HP, J&K; and may be some more places).

My reporting time was 12.30 pm but reached there at 1.05 pm.

Admission Process: Presentation started at 1.30 pm and after that we were given a topic on which we had to write a 250 word essay. Topic for all of us was : Should one judge a person from the external appearances? Then we were divided in the groups of 15 people each. Some groups went for the GD and some for PI. I went thru the PI first then GD.

PI: The students of BIMTECH had organised whole of the process and it was a very good effort on their part. They managed it well. I was the number three for the PI. When my turn came, I went inside and took my seat. There were two panel members-One from Industry and Other from the college itself.
P1: Tell me about yourself?
P1: Why you want to do MBA afetr Civil Engg. as the country needs many Civil Enggs.?
P1: Do you watch TV and which channel?
P1: My profile at Job and some questions on it?
P1: Dont you think you have done a mistake by leaving your job for MBA?
P1: Have you ever had a fight wid your boss?
P1: Wid your father?
and finally P2: What if we offer you some other course at BIMTECH like IB or retail?
P2: Achieved anything at the National or state level?

They kept my work-ex papers and then asked me to leave.

GD: There were 2 panelists and 14 students. The topic was: Is India moving away from a secularist state?
Some of the group members were quite good. I had a so-so GD. At the end of the GD we all were given a minute each to summarize.

About the college: Infrastructure is really good, but the location is not a plus point for BIMTECH. It is very far away. When you enter G. Noida then the industries comes first and the college is at the far end even though some other management colleges were nearer. They will provide the hostel facilities to the boys outside campus (2-3 kms). They had made good arrangement for the parents too.

Placements: Maximum 8 Lacs( Eicher) for PGDBM & PGDIB and PGDRMM's placement will start in April. Overseas placement maximum package is 13 Lacs. Average for the PGDBM is 4.5 Lacs.

Overall a nice experience.

@mount_kdn83
Have you got admission anywhere till now?

well buddy.. me got thru icfai hyderabad.. gave irma intr.. have my mfc(du)interview .. also have intrview fr ximb(pgprm).. thats all frm me what abt u i guess u had few decent calls how did all that go..

So you must be joining ICFAI HYBD even if you get thru BIMTECH. I was not able to get thru the process of SIOM and now only KJ Somaiya is left for me. Welingkar and ITM are also there, but the gd/pi list isyet to come. So all my hopes are on BIMTECH.
