Even the pandemic could not stop the students at LBSIM from celebrating the Cult Week. The events were conducted online, however the fun was far more than offline ones.

After ethnic day the event concluded with RJ day or popularly known as Romeo-Juliet Day where 14 pairs participated and were judged on the basis of compatibility tasks. The event would have been incomplete without Bajrang Dal’s participation in disrupting the love in the air.

Altogether, the week was a great way to make the new students feel warm and welcomed.

Aakriti Dua, Coordinator - Cult Committee, shares how her journey was an adrenaline rush of multitasking during this one year at LBSIM.

My One year at LBSIM was full of presentations, projects, events, conferences and sports. It was difficult and exciting at the same time. The most important thing that I learnt was to push myself and try as many diversified things as possible, thus bringing out a new side of me each time. Was it stressful? Ofcourse! Eventually, I started to enjoy even the most difficult times and all the sleepless nights they entailed. The first year really got over in a blink, leaving a lifetime of cherishable memories. The most memorable time for me would be all the cultural events and the sports fests which led to stronger friendships and teamwork. My advice to the newcomers would be to indulge in multiple extracurricular activities while managing your studies well. These will transform you and bring out the best in you.

CultTeam-‘Talent night’ was the most awaited night of the year. All the four clubs - Razzmatazz, Mantra, Vogue and Abhivyakti entertained the masses with their inherent talents. Mantra, the music club, mesmerised the virtual crowd with a melodious medley of catchy tunes by the junior members of the club. Abhivyakti, the dramatics club, moved the audience to tears with its masterpiece, "Asha-अंत", a short film on Mental health to encourage a dialogue among the younger generation in these tough times. Razzmatazz, the dance club, pepped up the students with live and recorded performances of party numbers filled with graceful moves. Vogue, the fashion club, grabbed people’s attention by bringing various fictional characters to life and also making the boys guess make-up they have never seen before. 2nd October is the birth anniversary of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji, who always worked towards making India self-reliant. He carved and followed the path of hard work and honesty.

 Shanmuga Priya, Coordinator - Razzmatazz, shares with us her cherishing experiences throughout the one year journey at LBSIM. An MBA is not just a course. It is a journey through hard work, pain, motivation, sleepless nights, fun and friendship. My one year at LBSIM has been smooth yet exciting. Each day held in itself is an opportunity, which helped me acquire new skills and knowledge. My area of interest was PGDM Finance, but coming from a technical background, it was challenging for me to learn something new. I highly appreciate the faculty, management, seniors and my batch-mates who guided me at all times. An MBA teaches us more outside the classroom than inside. I was part of clubs such as Razzmatazz and Zenith & performed on-stage at various occasions. I started taking up responsibilities and worked passionately for our annual fest - TATVA. My most memorable moment was the one when I was being appointed as Coordinator, Razzmatazz. I look forward to another year as an improved and more humble person, taking each day as a challenge because it is always the journey that counts.

At LBSIM, we take pride in extending our legacy with the Smt. Lalita Shastri Debate Competition, the annual debate competition, organized by Plithos, the Literary and Debating Club of LBSIM.

The competition was first conducted a decade ago but now it feels like it was just yesterday. As the competition is held annually, great participation and a healthy discussion is witnessed. Participants from various top B-Schools come together to showcase their oratory skills and present their views on the Worldly topics.

In the silver jubilee year of LBSIM, LSDC'21 is organized with an aim of nurturing great ideas and opening ourselves to new and innovative thoughts by the dynamic candidates.

“Har Internship Kuch kehti hai”.

"Especially this summer, when the whole world dealt with a juggernaut – COVID19, internships of all MBA students were affected and mine was no different. Being a sales & marketing intern with Asian Paints, it was a gargantuan challenge to connect with the dealers, distributors, contractors, and other stakeholders in the channel. When it came to the interaction with the AP officials, it was also limited as one tends to interact informally in the office and can learn a lot by observation and after-hours catch-up.

This hiccup was well managed by the virtual platform provided by AP central team. We were able to engage and report our performances to the guide and mentor via Microsoft Teams. Soon, early morning virtual team meetings and late evening conference calls became the new normal. To my surprise, I felt I was more effective in delivering my KPIs and deliverables timely."

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi organised an International Seminar on "Business Transformation: Turning Technology & Innovation to Achieve Excellence." The seminar started with the welcome address given by Dr Praveen Gupta, Director, LBSIM. This was followed by the introduction of the theme by Dr Shivani Bali, Seminar Convener, Senior Associate Professor, Operations, LBSIM. The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) U. Dinesh Kumar, Professor - Decision Sciences, IIM Bangalore, India. The keynote address was delivered by Mr Shiv Kumar, Head of Analytics, Schlumberger, India. The first technical session began with an introduction of the keynote speaker Mr Varun Mehta, Director APJ (Global FSI Practice), SAS, Australia. He discussed the topic, "Analyzing Spend in Large Enterprises". He helped everyone gain knowledge about the supply chain and the usefulness of analytics and data quality in the same context. Students learned about AI-based approach used in analytics and relation of it with the supply chain. The next keynote speaker was Dr Krishna Venkatesh, an Academic Consultant, PEREGRINE GLOBAL Fellow Institute of Directors, Santa Clara, California, United States. He talked about technology and innovation opportunities post COVID-19. He talked about various real-life incidents and examples in resolving issues and made sure that students learn about analytical reasoning and concentrate over actual challenges. I felt ecstatic about being selected as a summer intern in the sales domain with an industry stalwart, Britannia Industries Limited. Bags were packed and my ticket was booked, I had to report to their corporate office for the induction program. The pandemic hit us and amidst the fear of losing the opportunity of a lifetime, it made me feel extremely fortunate when the team at Britannia reached out with a concept of a "Virtual Internship". The rules had changed and the field was unique, remotely boosting sales team productivity during Covid-19 was extremely challenging and strenuous. With initial apprehensions, in the beginning, the situation later made us try newer tools and techniques and urged us to constantly innovate and adapt. Our on-ground workforce was one of the first to reach the market and their relentless attitude and mindset motivated us to formulate effective strategies and make tactical changes on a day to day basis. Our seniors, colleagues, and channel partners were an inspiration and an epitome of the strength of Britannia's culture. Our team fought like true warriors of the essentials goods industry.
