Pasting what a current class student posted on her FB wall today, verbatim:
"I have often been asked this question: "Is ISB worth the 25 lac investment?"
As I approach the beginning of the end here, it seems an appropriate time to answer it.
I entered ISB with the single narrow minded hope of an industry and role shift. I'd say it was the smallest of my gains here. But yay! anyway.
I made friends who stayed up all night with me when I was going through a hard time. I was difficult but they were unwavering.
I saw failed and successful relationships. And love. More than I deserved sometimes.
I danced all night. Night after night. And woke up early next morning for class (or not :p)
I travelled. Those term breaks were little unforgettable adventures, and I saw more of Goa in a year than I have in the 24 years prior.
I wined and dined with budding rock stars, future business leaders, and many many to be consultants.
I took Spanish lessons, but ended up learning Tamil instead.
I got to meet Farhan Akhtar.
So was the 25 lac investment worth it? I'd say, "For ISB, a million times over.""

Any re-applicants here?

Hello all, I am an ISB class of 2017 aspirant and have the following doubts.
1) I already am an MBA (class of 2014), I am a major in marketing. However, since I have almost 3 years of experience in Finance (including IT BFSI and core banking experience as am currently working in a bank) there, I am planning for another MBA (with major as Finance) from ISB this time.
I had plans of a Finance major while pursuing the previous MBA, but it was only after I got into the college that I realised that the Finance and Ops faculty was absolutely not how the whole crowd had expected. Does ISB have a negative perspective towards people having a MBA already?
2) What are the requirements for a need based scholarship? I read somewhere that the family income needs to be less than 10 lakhs which is weird because my dad is not going to fund my studies anyways and my salary is below 10 lakhs. What to do in this case, any idea?

Also, my gross CTC is ~11 LPA and considering that everyone at ISB has prior work experience . Hence, during campus placements how would an individual with about 3 years of work experience be perceived (considering the average experience in previous batch profiles is about 4-5 years) ?

hi , is it necessary to be involved with a NGO , wont it be fine to be working with my companies Corporate Social Responsibility team????
Hi Puys,
I have an admit from ISB, but have deferred it and would be joining next year. Hopefully many of you will be in my class.
My 2 cents on anyone who is confused about one's profile and wondering what to write in the essay:
Firstly, I read that many of you talk about your 'job responsibilities'. That does not matter that much. Apart from the usual acads, GMAT questions; you should be basically asking yourself: "If I had to pick two projects in my whole career - then what would those be; if they were to absolutely define me as someone who would be able to add value to the class then what would that be".
Secondly, be truthful. You would not have a big baggage if you never worked in an NGO - If all of us contributed to the society, then wouldn't India be a much better place? Everyone is able to see through this, so don't bring this up.
Thirdly, how important is the GMAT? Answer: It depends. So if you want to be among one of the ~16-19 Mckinsey hires from ISB, and you don't have an academic background to back that up and are not supported by a strong GMAT - then why should the adcom think that you will be able to crack the Dean's list in the insanely competitive atmosphere of the school?
I hope that this longish post is able to help some. For all other queries, please PM me.
All the best.
Cheers,
Mayank
