The panel had 3 members and the questions pertained primarily to my current work, essays and career goals. My essays were thoroughly bisected and they delved a lot into my current work trying to understand the nature of my work. They also probed into my aspirations and how I would be able to achieve them through ISB. The entire interview lasted 35 minutes.
Pointers to people yet to give their interviews - Go through every single word in your essays and your application and ensure you have all the facts and background in place. If you do this I think the rest will fall in place.
Also guidance and feedback from someone who knows the system well will help you a great deal. Hat tip to @Llewellyn75 for my interview prep. A big thank you Mr. Llewellyn :)
I've been following the forum for quite some time and it has been really helpful in terms of understanding not just the variety of questions that the panel asks and how to structure one's answers but also understanding the ISB's focus as a whole by looking at the profiles that are shortlisted for interviews.
Have been invited for the interview on 29th, 12:15pm, Mumbai location.
what is the main reason that an applicant is not called for an interview at the location of his/her preference? Is it just that the slots are filled or is it that such candidates are lower on ISB's preference for final selection?
News you can use: For candidates with e-commerce in their career goal essay, prepare well for a question on why you would want to move to an industry so unstable and uncertain. Some of our candidates have been asked this question this season.
The interview went on for almost 50 mins. The panel consisted of 3 people, they did not introduce themselves.
They asked everything possible from my essay and job responsibilities in the present job section. They picked out certain points from my essay and asked me to justify it and then also give an example of the same. A lot of cross questioning. One of the interviewer was smiling, other two were mostly expressionless.
No general questions like - Introduce yourself, why MBA, why ISB, long terms goal, short term goal etc were asked.
has it been a trend this year for delhi interviews that 8+ years experience applicants have not been invited for interviews. If yes, then is it also true for other cities?
They started by introducing themselves and were very cordial. Asked me mostly on my profile and work. There were questions on my venture and then they tried to ask me how would I apply learnings from my job to my venture. Overall the interview was more like a conversation even when they tried to probe with follow up questions. Asked me about situation when someone was not performing upto the mark in my team. No questions on why MBA or why ISB or any standard questions.
Thanks to @Llewellyn75 I was prepared to put my thoughts in a crisp manner and had the confidence to handle probing to second or third level of followup questions.
Hello Everyone, I have my Skype on coming Saturday (28 Nov). Should I expect one word extempore? I saw some interview experience blogs (from past years) and candidates were asked to speak about provided word for a min? Has this been the case with anyone this year? What about the case study?
This post is directed to experts. I am an applicant with merchant navy experience (5 years). My GMAT (690) is below class avg. Could you (@Llewellyn75, @ISBmantra.com) give me the estimate of the number of applicants from same background for Co 2017.
Somehow I feel that knowing the relevant number is important for me to weigh in my chances, considering my low GMAT.
Most of the questions were around my work ex and essays.
No why mba kind of questions.
Not at all a stress interview but I was a bit nervous, stuttered a bit while answering and couldn't present myself in the best way. Also I've committed silly grammar mistakes while speaking. Just wondering how will it effect my chances?
Interview in Delhi- 21st November Panel 9, 11 30 AM slot
2 alums and one adcom person
the interview started off with a quick introduction- they were extremely cordial and forthcoming. questions were basically centred around my job in consulting- had a minor case study- basically to judge what i do and how well i know my job or not. much to the contrary of other interviews that day, they did ask me the usual questions of career goals, why mba, what will i bring to the class etc.
quick interview-may have lasted around 15-20 mins.
seemed to have gone off smoothly without any cross questioning- but only time will tell! Now the wait begins...
