ISB 2017 Aspirants

Hi,

I am applying for the first time to ISB. Hereby I am listing my academic and professional records followed by some queries.

10th - 87.4% - D.A.V Public School , Jharkhand, 2005

12th - 83.0% - St. John's International Residential School, Chennai, 2007

B.Tech - Civil Engineering - Manipal University - 7.94 cgpa - 2011

Larsen and Toubro - Senior Engineer - 2011-2013

Sponsored for Construction Management by L&T to IIT Madras

M.Tech - Construction management - 2013 - 8.31 cgpa

GMAT Score - 720

I shall rejoin L&T in July. Thus, my approximate work experience till March, 2016 would be 33 months.

Apart from these I have been  Science club secretary and house vice captain in my school, school and college cricket team captain, President of a university based social and adventure club. I have various certificates in public speaking competitions at various levels.

I would be really grateful if my following queries could be resolved.

1. Based on my short resume, what are my chances to get through this year?

2. For the recommendation, would it be better to get it from an IIT professor since I am just passing out from there or should i take from a L&T manager under whom i worked two years back?

Thanking you in advance.

Regards,

Sounak

...i see a campus visit option on the website...and then i see a form that need to be filled..

1. What exactly happens if I fill that form? ( Is there a selection even to visit the campus!! as they ask for the resume to be uploaded)

2. If I do  visit the campus, any idea what happens during the visit?( Can i meet the adcom and bribe them 😃 )

Hi @ISBmantra.com and everyone else on the forum.

I am keen to apply for ISB PGP. Can you review my profile and provide some feedback (my chances / etc.)

Total Work Experience - 12 years - all 12 years in Analytics Consulting

 - 4 years in India working for India based global analytics consulting firm (last position was of project manager leading team of 4).

 - 8 years in USA

      - first 3 years working for a leading bank within analytics strategy

     - last 5 years as founder and principal consultant of my own analytics consulting firm working with market leaders in banking and telecoms.

GMAT - 690

Education :

B.Com (48% - financially struggling hence was working jobs during university, was lucky enough to pass)

12th - 49% (same reason as above)

10th - 52% (same reason as above, couldn't afford tuitions, etc).

Have also done - PG Diploma in Mktg Mgmt from USA

Non-Indian Passport Holder

Reason for MBA - Move back to India to live with family. Careerwise planning analytics start-up in India.

With academic performance way below average (I am not academically dumb, I just had different priorities then. In-fact my work is highly analytical and involves intensive problem-solving, data analyses, statistical modeling, etc. However, my acad-grades are something that I cannot change), do I stand any chance - at all for an interview call??

Hi,

I have a 680 in GMAT and it will be great if someone can suggest me some good GMAT instructors/personal coach since I am a working professional and would need a personal trainer to help me improve my score. I am specifically looking for a jump in my verbal score which is at an abysmal 33.Planning to give my GMAT in September.

Thanks!

Hi,

I am interested in applying to the Fellow Program in Management in ISB. Could you have a look at my profile?

Tenth: 83.5%  (2000)

Twelfth: 80.2% (2002)

I started working with the Indian Railways after Twelfth

Graduation(Commerce): 63.8% from Osmania University, through Correspondence (2005)

Post Graduation(English): 57.7 Correspondence (2007)

MPhil(Women's Studies): Tata Insititute of Social Sciences, (2016)

GMAT score 590

I participated actively in Extra Curricular activities only till the twelfth class, I stopped once I started working.

Work Experience 12 years  in a variety of positions and locations with the Indian Railways.

1) Would I be considered directly for a fellow program or would I have to first do a course in Management considering that my Post Graduation and MPhil are in other subjects?

2) Is the GMAT score good enough or should i reconsider taking it again so as to improve my score?

Hi Puys and Experts

Applied last year but didn't get the interview call. Will be applying again this year

Below is my profile.

GMAT: 710

10'th : 88%

12'th : 69% L

B.Tech Mechanical from U.P.T.U : 67% (Although % is less but was in the top 20% of the class)

Workex of 5.5 years in IT. Working with Infosys.

First one to be promoted in my peer group.

Active in extracurricular activities right from school. Have won around 30 prizes in diverse activities like Quiz,Debate,Dramatics,Music,Art etc at school and college level.

Have won few prizes at current organisation also for work as well as for extracurriculars.

Actively involved in organising team and account level activities.

Other than evaluating my profile, kindly help me get out of the dilemma I am in right now.

I have keen interest in Marketing and wish to apply for same(As did last year). However, I was recently interviewed for another B school  and was bombarded with questions like why do you want to spoil your IT experience and suggestions like IT should  have been your chosen specialisation. Also I was told that Bschools after workex of 5 years are for career acceleration and not career change. Kindly let me know if my aspirations here are a bit unrealistic and this could be one of the reasons for not getting an interview call last year.

Since new season of admissions is starting now, I first want to get out of this dilemma and then start preparing my applications.

Eagerly waiting for your valuable inputs .

Hi ppl,

I am a re applicant, How do I get feedback on last years form, I've applied for a feedback but haven't received any communication yet
