Hi GuysI am Prateek. I completed B.Tech from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University), New Delhi in 2010 and since then working with HCL.I am planning to do MBA. But first I have 2 questions.1) Is there any cap on work-ex in most of the companies in India. I have heard that preference, in placements after the MBA degree, is given to people with work-ex of around 2 years. What happens when the work-ex goes more than that?2) Does it really matter the brand and the name of the company in which you are working when it comes to admissions in the MBA colleges. I mean in the shortlisting stage or in the interviews or in the placements. I am currently working in HCL but I have offers from Sapient and Deloitte Consulting. Sapient is giving joining in Gurgaon, which is near to my hometown and Deloitte in Hyderabad. Which one should I prefer if the profile offered is same?Looking forward for answers from Puys who are either currently pursuing MBA or completed their MBA.

I am Sandeep Singh, B.Com(Hons) graduate from St. Xavier's Kolkata & a Chartered Accountant
I am presently working in an obscure Pvt. Ltd. company , but i have to admit the quality of work is top-notch, most of times. Apart from cost analysis, cost management, partaking in various finance decisions of the company. I am learning a whole load of soft skills such as negotiating with people, getting them to work the way you like, without being rude. But other days, work sucks like handling petty cash, i effing hate that.
Seriously i am bored of my job, my existence. the fact that I am not a hot-selling property in marriage market, due to some medical reasons, has left me deflated. So, thinking of attempting CAT this year, to see where I stand among the best brains in the country along with finding something to keep me occupied, lest this boredom consumes me.
Funnily, this is going to be first CAT attempt, I have been deliberating about appearing for CAT for years, but never had opportunity to do so.
I am in PG to find like minded individuals, who inspire & motivate me to reach for next level. I am sure I am a powder-keg of untapped potential, just need a fuse to blow up!!
Regarding aim for next 1 year in life, I am already accounts manager of my company, so I don't think I would climb much higher in my company hierarchy. In regards my soft skills, i hope I am much more matured person after 1 year, learn to control my anger, in short be patient with people, & get job done.
As regards, CAT 12 I have already given up hopes. But CAT 13 is going to be a honest attempt, I have never given my all in any exam, so CAT 13 is going to be the one.
So hoping for little bit of guidance & motivation from all senior Puys
@mohanpyare buddy there are a lot of threads that you can follow and discuss your problems in.
besides I believe yahan pe IITians aur NITians se kuchh nahi hota in fact most of the talented ones here are from colleges other than NIT and IIT ;)
