Introduce Yourself - II

@ArminMustafa welcome buddy !!

hey guys
Dhruv here frm Engineering background.i hv worked in Accenture for 11 months,nw resigned and preparing for CAT!

I was sitting idle today so thought why not introduce myself

Well I have done my Engineering from the "Bengal Engineering and Science University" and Currently employed in Kolkata . It's my first attempt in CAT. My discipline was ECE.

My academics are not exceptionally good - Just an average Joe !

10th- 87%
12th- 78.4%

Grads- 69% (screw up big time)

Would like to get introduced to some MBA aspirants from Kolkata. Hello anybody out there from Kolkata ?

Hello guys

Hi Friends
It has been 3 weeks since I joined this and I thoroughly enjoyed being in this community.
Browsing through many threads I gained confidence that if I put my hardwork and efforts I can get through the qualifying exams to get into an MBA...may in more than one attempt..

But I am in a big dilemma now , and if there is anyone who had my kind of state , please advise me.

as I introduced myself , I am 32yrs old , with good graduation but had been with family businesses. I dont need to do MBA for a job or something. Then..why I think of MBA...
answer is..
I came to a stage in life where I am confident that I can maintain the kind of lifestyle for me and my family with constant decent earnings.
Now I want to try my hand at doing some higher projects in business out of my own innovative ideas and also establish sister-concern NGOs where I can divert share of my profits to society too (well I am confident that if my implement my business ideas correct I draw Profits )
I am also okay for losses, as I have secure home business at hand.
But all the business associates and contacts I have had sofar are local small town people who cannot vision anything than "SAFELY" running the businesses already they are in.

For such higher levels, I am getting people who are associated with corrupt systems (politicians / scamsters ) and I dont want to do business with them (though I am sure that I have to wet their hands at some point of time )

I want to associate with educated minds and right spirited people , and I feel I shud get into an MBA college just to get such contacts !!

Is my thought process right ??
or..is there anyother way I can meet such people ??
and if so , which one wud be my best option to go for MBA ..? I am 100% sure that I will not go for jobs in other companies after graduation... when I have crores (dont mean to boast..just to emphasize the cost of projects i have in mind ) to invest a new business should i work for someone else now ??>

@parvateesam wow, what thinking man!!
i am also an mba aspirant and i seriously suggest you to go for executive program..of course, you will meet a diversified crowd in an mba school(say for example, there will be a lot of ideas and opinions on a crucial subject like homosexuality etc. which will certainly open and widen your mental horizons)..well if there will be proficient contacts or not??i have to find it out..aim for a good b school..may be iims
@siddattri i considered MBA with the same idea...
but doing that means...lot of sacrifices for me . Have to rest business into someone else's hand for those 2yrs or so and there will be some periodic visits i have to pay in real estate n finance fields i m in which i cannot avoid..so going abroad or staying in other states might be too risky to have my absence here
Its tough to maintain both..but ofcourse NOT impossible
but is it really worth all the sacrifice is wt i m thinking
bcos in real life, i regularly see / hear of Goons , bootleggers , corrupt officeboys , roadside businessmen becoming top businessmen...establishing media houses , hospitals , chain of restaurants , and even "dot-com" businesses !!
especially in a country like India...i see most of the bosses (or capital investors ) from semi-literate backgrounds n from ruffian lives !
on the other hands , few handful number of friends i have in various fields (including a couple who did MBA in top universities ) are just being employees ...and even with my invitation to join me in new starts they are not willing to take "risks" ! they r just content to draw salary and live with families and at the most drop in few hundreds in the name of charity. totally disturbing contradiction
may be i am in wrong groups...but this is what i am observing :(

Hi friends, it has been a long time I have joined PG but am not a user on a regular basis but now I think I must introduce myself It is my second attempt for CAT, in my first attempt I have score:

Sec 1: 99.4 percentile

Sec 2: 87.6 percentile

OA : 98.60 percentile

m an engineer graduated in 2012...

@parvateesam well, if u can manage it or not totally depends on u. i would say there comes a part in life when when u r in dilemma and u want an answer. its only u who can decide.talking about semi- educated people being successful; this is life, if it is fair then it can be unfair as well. In my opinion its not necessary that a b school can help u being a successful entrepreneur. it can tell u some perspectives and frame some examples but the implementation depends on the person. furthermore, executive program is just for 15 months so it can be managed (may be a more experienced person can guide u better at this stage as i am in my final year and its my first attempt to cat)
