@[609066:MissWorld] depends on what you plan to do ... If u intend to make a career in media and if u have done your research and know that media and comm in TISS is better than Xaviers or any other institute then go for it .

I'm Arjun originally from Bangalore, India but currently living in Dubai UAE.
I've always been fascinated about running my own business at sometime in my life. After a bit of research, I understood that it took 2 things to achieve my goal:
1. Business acumen and market know-how
2. Strong financial bandwidth in order to scale the business (or save yourself when your business has failed :P)
The above listed reasons are why I want to do an MBA. And seeing the world and quite a few of its pleasures (traveling to Europe, Middle East, U.S, India etc) have led to some high aspirations.
I have 2.5 years of work ex in my field (Business Development and Marketing) in a small but highly recognized information security firm in Dubai. I graduated from BITS Pilani (Dubai) having completed my Computer Science Engg. with a GPA of 8.00. I also am quite articulate in expressing myself and have the gift of gab (evident from my rather long post). I've completed my XII in CBSE syllabus with a score of 87%. I've changed 9 schools since childhood, so I've grown accustomed to change around me. I'm also a musician, writer and public speaker.
I've given my GMAT once and gotten a disappointing 650. I'm currently studying for it to re-take the exam. My goal is to reach a 720.
Here is where I need your opinion PG veterans! Now that you know my background, what do you think are my chances of getting into a top tier B-School in India? I'm also applying to other schools outside India, but my top preference (considering the current economic scenarios globally) is back home.
I plan to apply to ISB, IIM-B, IIM-C and if need be, SIBM Pune. Your views are much appreciated!

@[608204:pria_cat]: you have a decent career. What is your workex(duration)?? Focus on your weak areas and stick to some good test series(time,ims,cl). This will help you sail through smoothly considering you have a good mathematical base (as from nit)

Although i am not the best person to guide because i myself have started preparing few days back. If you want to crack the CAT, target this time itself why are you aiming for next year. still more than 2 months left which may be enough if you study properly. Your acads are great and decent score could fetch you many calls. I would suggest you not to go for any coaching class now, better start doing the basics yourself and then go for mocks.

yeah.. u'r right..but along with job..i thnk its very late for covrng syllbus as i hv nt given it earlier..
and i m planning to take a test series frm a good coachng instt..

Follow "Arun Sharma for quant, TIME material for LR-DI" as prescribed by PG veterans. PG threads are also good source. And go through basics before appearing in mocks because there is no point in giving mocks without basic stuff and doing so could result in low score which affects the morale. This has happened with me thats why i am telling you.

To improve english, read a lot and start cracking RCs as 9-10 qs(aprx) out of 20 in CAT are from RCs. Solve these from any GMAT book(Barron) and also start practising parajumbles.
