Hi Guys.. I have done Maths (Hons) in my graduation after that MCA in 2011. After MCA, got selected and joined govt. job (Tax Asst (Clerical job)) I have completed 2 years there, but I am not happy with the clerical profile, also the growth in terms of promotions and salary is not much there. So decided to pursue Actuary as I have interest in this field and side by side started looking for jobs in IT sector, I gave interview in Mercer for VBA developer and selected there also. And I have cleared ACET (in dec,13) and will be giving 3 CT papers in may'14. So should I join mercer as it also has an acturial dept and will try for IJPs from IT dept to acturial dept after clearing acturial exams?

An earnest request everyone. IAI has floated a survey about comparison between Indian and UK actuary. All of the student members has received the same in their registered mail id. Please fill that survey and mention about the low pass percentage in IAI as compared to IFOA. If this thing gets rectified it will be beneficial for all of us.
Please don't ignore the survey. It will take 5 mins but it is worth that.
Questions to all experienced folks -
I have cleared the ACET this Dec and planning to start the voyage through CT papers.
But I have started this pretty late - already have 9 + years of experience (in IT / ITES industry as techie as well as in consulting profile). My domains include Life Insurance (mainly policy admin) and general insurance (mainly around Claims Transformation) - I am a BE & PGDM (from respectable institutions) and hence placed moderately well in my job in terms of position, payscale, etc.
How much sense does it make for me to go through the rigours ?? - I want to understand exactly how much leverage can I get over my present situation if I say clear 3 of the CT papers - will I have to again start from the bottom of the pyramid as trainee actuary or I can use these as an addendum to my current credentials - please advise.
The entire purpose of planning to invest to efforts in this journey was to move around the stagnation which I can foresee for myself in the future 
I do not mind putting in hard work but that should not be aimless😠😠
If one were to ask students as to what they want to do after 10 2, most would say they want to take up medicine, engineering or chartered accountancy. However, students have a wide range of options to choose from which are not only equally rewarding but also have a far better career scope.

hey guys.. I am B.Tech(Computer Science:2009) graduate and did MBA (Finance :2011) and currently working as an Analyst in an International Bank. I am planning to take ACET June 2014 exam. I have some doubts regarding this.
1. What materials do I need to follow to crack ACET other than IAI study materials?
2. Do any sort of coaching will be necessary for cracking ACET?
3. What is the career prospects of a Student member after clearing ACET. This doubt is because when I searched for Actuary jobs in Bangalore for student members, I am not able to find much.😟😟

I did receive the confirmation of IAI regarding student memebership. Can anyone tell me if there will be much difference between the study material of 2013 and 2014(I want to give only CT1 this may)? Also what is the total no. of pages in CT1's study material(approx.)?
I have cleared ACET in dec-2013 and recently got the confirmation of my membership from IAI. However on logging in the website I dont see any option for exam registration for may 2014 diet. So do I have to first purchase the study material and then the option for exam registration will open up?? or the exam registration for may 2014 diet will take place later??

Guys wanted to know about CT7 study material. Confused about IAI saying that they are short of books written by John Sloman, Kevin Hinde and Dean Garratt.
So needed to know "the above said textbooks also require to prepare for CT7 or IAI material is sufficient". And where do i get those textbooks. As per IAI i can read through Athens Portel but it offers only 8% of total pages of the textbook to print or download.
